I am playing this with my accompanist tomorrow morning. Wish me luck! I will try to emulate you,David. As a 68 year old horn player I shall simply play my best! You inspire me. Thanks.
The prolific Mr Bozza. Sounds like something a professional might use as an audition piece. It reminds me of the story I once heard James Galway tell about his audition for the principal flute position at the Berlin Phil when he met the pianist to run through his solo audition pieces. Sitting at his stool the pianist flicked through his music, looked up at Galway and in all seriousness said " what do you think this is, a piano audition? "
I do not think persons who give thumbs down have a clue! I challenge them to tell us why they vote nay. I may be supercritical at times at times but I consider the performance as a whole -- not my nits. There.
messrtwinky although I wouldn't ever down vote (due to the shear skill required), I personally don't like the interpretation of the piece in this video
Too rush. I like its spirit, but I hate people spoiling a work due to lack of care. I'm not speaking about missed notes (which are quite a few) but wrong notes (not playing what you have in the score) Compare this with Baborak's: ruclips.net/video/SahdCZmlme0/видео.html
No disrespect to David Cooper- he has come a long way since this recording and has had much better performances. This one is honestly just messy in my opinion. Rushed, inaccurate, etc. There are much better recordings of En Foret out there. I wasn't one of the ones that downvoted it but I could see why it would be downvoted. Stuff happens. It just wasn't a very clean performance from someone who is held at a much higher standard now
Printed metronome markings for the first section and then final section of this piece are too fast. Anyone attempting to play these tempos or faster runs the risk of it sounding muddy. This performer's video of "Sur Les Cimes" by Bozza is much better.

Великолепно!!!Очень впечатлена!! Концертмейстер супер!! Я сама аккомпанировала это произведение! Спасибо!!!
May I correct you? This is not a work for Horn with piano accompiment: it's a work for Horn and Piano. They're equal partners in this piece.

Not in my ENTIRE LIFE could I EVER play a piece like this on French Horn.
and I even play French Horn.
Believe in yourself, and get to work!
Very good

BTW This is a fantastic performance by both musicians. but I still think accompanist is diluting his control by excessive "relaxed" wrists.
C'est une étude, pas une pièce de concert. Mais c'est intelligent. J'ai apprécié l'introduction du «Dies Irae».
it's distracting when pianist takes his hands off keyboard and drops them between his legs.

I think it’s all subjective, especially with him being principal at Chicago now
