Its because most reviewers will just take the game at face value and base their review on the 1 and only experience of the game they had. Shoot to the rhythm, its a rhythm based game. I never thought I would have to use the term "uncultured swine" in a serious manner but damn, some reviewers really are uncultured.
Finally made up my mind to buy a VR and just bought the game today and I had no idea it was a rhythmic style game. I would have eventually found out but first 3 hour play through.. I almost like the intensity of not knowing. Makes it more chaotic than following a rhythm and I thought the music was there just for background noise. Awesome game though no doubt, no matter how you play it. Anything to get the blood pumping.
I like how you're actually creating your own rhythm and playing along with the song. I'm able to shoot to the beat, but being able to throw in quarter notes or half notes and get creative is where the true depth of this game lies IMO.
Wow, thanks so much for this. I'm surprised the in-game tutorial doesn't doesn't highlight playing to the rhythm. Having been a Guitar Hero fanatic in the 2000s, this makes the game so much better, and I can clearly see that the developers intended this based on when the enemies pop out, their armor level, and shot duration. The "on-rails" auto running actually seems quite similar to the Guitar Hero fretboard coming at you.
I think it’s because it’s so you decide how you play enjoy the game for yourself without putting pressure on you. I don’t think the developers want to have impact on your playstyle.
I was so confused cause I'm a drummer and I was watching other players play this and they weren't on beat with the music at all. I swore that's how it was supposed to be played but no one was doing it. Watching you play I now know I am right. haha
@@CircuitLord I don't think that's the players fault exactly, the game could definitely do more to show the player when it's the best time to shoot for maximum score.
@@Strikerdoodle I mean, it's not that hard. You shoot with the beat, and the music is there to show you "the beat". And if you're still struggling, there's even a vibration metronome thingy that vibrates your controller a bit on every beat to help you find it if you're having trouble.

No hate but ur supposed to shoot the armored enemies and then pistol whip for the extra points. A chestplated grunt is 1 shot then pistol whip, and a full armor grunt is 3 shots then pistol whip. No armored grunts u just pistol whip :)
If you play the game like this, it gets easier, so you SHOULD do that. But there are stages where you shoot in-rythm even if you suck, since they spawn in rhythm.
there is three ways to play; 1. you shoot on the beat with the right amount of bullets per enemy and do some sweet melee on beat aswell. 2. you add some modifier like deadeye and see how bad your aim is without the assist. 3. John Wick mode, fuck the beat. just kill and survive the lvl. I am more of a 3 than a 1 but 2 is fun sometimes aswell.
I stil dont get it. I play it like theres a beat like every single second there is "dum" and enemies go bright for a seceond and the I shoot them but it seems to be wrong
This is awesome :D Nice to see some rhythm to Pistol Whip gameplay! What software do you use when recording? the camera FOV and smoothness looks great!
What's your best advice for not getting hit? Is it just constant head movement? The red circles don't seem to appear all the time. I'm not sure they're terribly helpful either except to alert you to an incoming bullet from your periphery.
yes head movement is key. I found that kinda dancing or bouncing back and forth to the beat helps with dodging and it helps you keep the rhythm but its also very exhausting lol. Try not to stay in one spot waiting to dodge the bullets though it becomes too much, you have to stay moving to throw off their shots.
Yep, pretty much. I just am constantly moving side to side, and up and down, so my head is never in the same spot as the spot they aim by the time the bullets get to me.
Bullets are fired where your head is assuming you don't move. If you can see the shot, just lean out of the way right before it hits you (if another minion fires before you do, they are gonna miss from that same move). This keeps your options open. The more exhausting alternative is to just move in a circle, crouching and standing as you move left and right. Even with a lot of fire you can avoid being hit rather reliably.
Your accuracy is also part of that. If you're getting 170s, you're hitting on the beat. Bring the gun up to eye level and level the sights. Concentrate on aiming and you'll get those 200s. If you're off-beat, you'll get 100 or less, depending on accuracy. 100 is for accuracy, the other hundred is for on-beat.
How dare you shoot to the beat!! You're suppose to spam shoot the enemies AS SOON as they show up and not even let them shoot at you!! Can't believe you would even think of being clever and shooting to the beat.. The game has cool music in the background to shoot to, totally not cool music for you to shoot TO the beat to. geesh you're just doing it all wrong... adding rhythm to a rhythm game... pfff...
