    I'm glad you mentioned about the Polaris shifter. I don't doubt that its less accurate and mushy, but even bigger is that design is so outdated. I'm guessing that somebody at Polaris feels like that ugly twisted stick protruding out the side is a part of their brand recognition but it has to go. Thank goodness they didn't carry it over to the scrambler.
    I'm also not a fan of the big silver wheel hubs in the center of the wheel but maybe now I'm getting too picky.

    I just bought a 2020 cfmoto cforce 600 today for $6100. The machine is absolutely gorgeous and comes loaded with options. Since it is Chinese, I bought the extended warranty. Hopefully the quality is good. My last ATV was a 2016 Polaris Sportsman 450 HO. The cforcre is a more refined machine for the money (EPS is standard). The suspension on the Sportsman was fantastic. I haven't ridden the cforce off road yet but I doubt it could be as good. We will see.

      @@robertbuttigieg494 I just did the 20 hour oil change and a spark plug change yesterday. The ATV is very well built. No short cuts whatsoever. I have 2 issues that I have had since day one. The gear selector has been difficult. It would hang up trying to go from H to P. It would get stuck at R and not go any further. I would have to then put it in R and drive in reverse, stop and then it would allow me to put bike in park. It is getting better as bike is getting more hours.
      The second issue has been back fires on rapid deceleration. Going from WFO to just cutting throttle completely to use engine braking will cause noticeable "pops" out of exhaust pipe. I did not have this issue with my 2016 Polaris 450 HO.
      The suspension is good and has gotten better as bike has gotten hours. Still not as good as the Polaris but very close. I put an NGK Iridium spark plug in yesterday. It was a royal pain in the ass to change out!!! There are no tutorials anywhere. The amount of clips and bolts!!! I was taking all the panels off the left side and didn't need to. I was damn frustrated. Never again!! With the new plug the bike now rips!! Before I considered it slow. The 450 HO I feel would have beat it in a drag race. Now it feels like a new ATV. It pulls very hard and is scary fast in its acceleration. The old plug's ceramic was a light brown. I thought it would be white from running too lean. The fuel injection ecu mapping therefore is "good". Still heard backfires but bike was not fully warmed up during short acceleration testing. The "pops" may just be normal.
      The oil filter is a stupid design. Stupid. Why they didn't use a canister is beyond me. Oil flows everywhere. Dang messy!!!!
      Overall it is a fantastic ATV. I love it. The build quality on the 2020 is superb!!! A heck of alot of ATV for the money!!!

    I have owned 2 different Polaris quads, both with the 500 ho engine. When it comes to maintenance, they will nickel and dime you to death. Nothing major but you will be replacing brakes, bearings and bushings CONSTANTLY. There are also a lot of different electrical issues you may run into if you run your quad every weekend. That being said, though I no longer ride, if I needed to buy a quad again I would buy a Polaris in a heartbeat. The ride on these is absolutely amazing compared to any other brand. The AWD system is easy to use, just flip it into AWD on the go when you are nearing rough patches and don’t give it another thought. It will get through it, or crawl over it. If it can’t I doubt other quads will. Also, power is amazing compared to other similar sized engines, especially on the smaller displacement machines. My 500 sportsman was quicker and almost anything under 800cc except for the can ams. Sure I worked on it after every ride but oh well I enjoyed riding it more than any other brand I’ve ridden so I put up with it. Just wish I still had time to ride or I would still own my 13 sportsman 500

    We were looking at side by sides this week and I caught a mechanic outside at the dealer and he talked to us for about 15 minutes. He let us sit in other people's machines because none of the dealers have anything in stock right now. He said he'd never own a Polaris. He showed us 15-20 atv's and utv's waiting for repairs and they were all Polaris except for stuff that owners had wrecked. He liked the Kawasakis and Hondas they sold and said to buy Japanese...

      Do not ever by CFMOTO they do not perform well in the Heat when they get hot and you turn them off they do not want to start back up right away they will if you force them by giving it gas and holding the throttle a little bit so it don't die but who wants to buy something like that when they can have quality. I bought two of the CF Moto 400 and they both had the same problem they were both brand new 2020s from the store I deeply regret buying them. I live in New Mexico it gets pretty hot up here so maybe if you live in a cool temperature area this four-wheeler might be better for you but still I wouldn't buy it

  • @AusJackal

    the funny thing about your emphasis on the brake lever position is on the motorcycle the brake is usually on the right and the clutch is on the left. Given that most ATV's don't use a clutch I don't know why they didn't leave the brake on the right.. it's where I prefer it.

    • @triangleofdeath6246
      @triangleofdeath6246 7 лет назад

      Jackal's Outdoor Channel The right side is definitely where I'm used to having it. Mainly, I tend to use a Combo of Right lever and Foot pedal for Stopping My old Honda 185s. It does have dual Hand levers for the brakes, but I tend not to use the left one, it just feels weird to use, kinda wrong, really. that's one thing I don't like about the Arctic
      Cat I use at work.

      A little bit of information on the CFMOTO they actually build for other big names for almost 30 years now. They are just new in this part of the world. For Example they build a lot of KTM models.

    • @gregrowe1168
      @gregrowe1168 7 лет назад +1

      I'd still go with the Kymco if I wanted the best price. The 450i makes quite a bit more power than the CF Moto 400 as well. The Kymco 450I is basically identical to the Arctic Cat Alterra 450 as Kymco makes the engine for both.

    • @alburd1
      @alburd1 6 лет назад

      They all come with that zip tie when they are new. I was at the dealer and they all had it. I bought a 500cc CF and it had it too. I took it off and nothing popped out of place or anything. I assume it has something to do with the original packaging? I will say this, SO FAR it's been a great rig. I got a brand new (2017 model) 500cc 4x4 with dif lok, power steering, winch installed, aluminum mag rims for $4999. and when you ride it you don't feel like you are on a piece of shit. It rides pretty nice, looks great. I'm an old school Honda guy and I like this rig. A lot of bang for $5000. My only beef is it doesn't turn very sharp. But I can live with the occasional 2 point turns..

  • @vansantsam
    @vansantsam 5 лет назад +2

    For $1500 in savings gives some room for modifying the suspension and moving the brake lever to the other side if you desire.. I have had my Arctic Cat since 2003 and one of the first things I did was to change the rear springs and make adjustments to preload, tire pressures and added 1 inch spacers on all 4 corners, for my personal desired handling characteristics.. Next changes were a tad more aggressive 6 ply radial tires.. Having owned 4x4's for over 50 years (Jeeps, Scouts, 4 wheel drive pickups etc), I have discovered that in many and almost all cases lower power is better (fosters traction rather than spinning and digging deeper holes).. Narrower tires also foster better traction (gets down through the muck to find solid ground for better traction rather than floating in the muck, and trying to paddle in the sloppy stuff).. Tires and ground clearance is the key with just enough power to pull you through without excessive torque and spinning.. My 400 has shamed many with over twice the engine size.. Left them scratching their heads.. Who do you think would win a drag race on ice, a low powered VW Beetle or a high horse powered Corvette - my money would be on the VW for sure..

    I have a sportsman 570 with over 400 miles and a cf moto 400 with over 500 miles. both ridden on the same trails and in the same way. I also use the cfmoto to plow snow but not the sportsman. cf moto has had no issues at all, sportsman 570, replaced the fuel pump and both rear axles. I was skeptical about buying the cf moto but for me the savings out the door of over $1500 vs the cost of a 450 sportsman it was more than worth it. the ride is good, it makes good power for a 400 and so far has been more reliable than my polaris 570. I would definitely recommend anyone try cfmoto especially if in the market for a second ATV.

      This is especially common in race ATVs, where they will take a Engine from say, a 550, and sleeve it down to about 435 CC, so it fits the 450 class.

The ride is not stiffer than any other ATV I have ridden, I was very happy with how it performed. My property is very hilly with a lot of steep trails, a rocky stream, lots of mud (and snow today, May 8th 2020, really?) . He mentions the sportsman is much faster, well yeah, it’s a 500CC machine that weighs less than the CFMOTO 400. It has a bigger engine, more power and weighs less, duh! The CF also has big steel bars in front where the Polaris is all plastic. The fit and finish is excellent as well. Time will tell with how it holds up, but my first day with it I’m impressed

    I'm from Kentucky. The Dirty South. Everyone has multiple four-wheelers and side by sides and the occasional dirt bike. Believe me when I say no one ever praises the reliability of a Polaris. Whether it's 6 months old or 6 years old, no one is saying these things are reliable. The reason Polaris is on top of the market is because they were the first to come out with the RZR style rig. They pretty much set a trend and have really benefited from it. The RZR is very hot performance and I really enjoy driving one. But like everything else Polaris has you definitely are going to have to work on it and spend a lot of your hard-earned money to own it. As for talking about this CFMOTO thing, I've never heard of the brand until recently. I guess we'll see how it plays out. It's just so funny to hear somebody set there with a straight face and say proven track record about Polaris. I know a few guys that literally never take their Polaris Vehicles off the pavement. They drive them around the golf course. And, they still have problems. The only proof of a Polaris track record is one of wallet draining. I'm not going to be that guy that says one brand makes the best of everything. Different brands have their specialties. And, as well different amounts of reliability. Other than the Polaris diesel that was made when I was a child I'm not going to sit here and praise the brand for reliability.

      I don't see why Not! I'm 6,2, 230 lbs, and a well-used 1983 Honda 185s scoots my butt around just fine, although it don't pull like it used to.
      At work, (Weekend Job) the primary Machine we (Me and My co-Workers) use is a 2003 Yamaha Big Bear 400 4x4 it is used for scooting around the yard for getting parts, or else pulling cars around, does fine, and we often have over 400 lbs of stuff on it, 2 people, tools, and whatever piece we just pulled. It is the primary pulling machine as well, it will pull a 3,500 car around. The only problem we run into is if we get a particularly heavy car, (say, a 5,500 lb fully Loaded 1970 Chrysler New Yorker with a stuck rear wheel. At that point, the rear tends to lift up and spin, unless I sit over the rear wheels and keep the back end down.
      Even with 300lbs on it (ME, at 230lb, 6'2, and a 70 lb Tool Box on the front), I have had that thing up to 40 mph blasting down the gravel Road, and it acted like it was nothing!
      If a 400 Big Bear can scoot like that loaded down, and go through the kinda stuff we use it for, for over a decade (Bought it used, 2009), your BB 350 should have no problems, so long as it has good compression, and doesn't smoke like a bigshot executive with a cuban cigar.

Neither machine have ever let me down and for a beginner, the MOTO is easier to manage. Sometimes I prefer it. The CFMOTO is much cheaper and more easy to replace if I destroy it in remote Alaska doing wild Alaskan things. But the Polaris sips gas compared to the CFMOTO which is important when fuel stations are not so easy to get to.

    This is a very bad comparison. The 450 is really a 500 class. The review would have been better to compare the CForce 500 not the 400.

    You can buy the Sportsman for just over 4k if you look around. CF moto dealers sell at MSRP. So you can actually get the Polaris cheaper so it's a real no brainer.

      Polaris quality has fallen off for some time. They are offering lots of deals to try and keep up their sales.

    I'll stick with my Honda Rancher420 DCT EPS IRS any time. Reliability. I've heard horrible stories on CVT's in quads. Dirt Trax seem to favor Polaris in their reviews. It's not always about power! When I purchase an ATV, I want it to last a long time! Honda all the way for me! Go into an repair shop and look and see what ATV's are there for repair. Let them do a story on that!

      I have owned honda foreman's in fact for thirty plus years Honda made the only thing parked at my place . The day came I was offered a deal on a 700 grizzly third year I have owned it and without question. In every way it provides me with more of everything I like. No more Honda's for me. Honda had for years back brake issues and imperfections to but the usually always started and ran but most say the same about yamaha and kawasaki they run reasonable close with dependability when it comes to rider comfort , aggressive performance. Handling agility. Power to weight.
      Then you see honda disappoints. My son had a foreman and would not consider anything else. Untill he road mine about twice he has already sold his honda.

      What stories? The cvts are pretty simple and easy to access.

    I know 2 guys that had Polaris, my cousin who had I think a 09 and my friend who has a 2011. Polaris seems to have tons of power, a 400cc is fast as hell. Smooth riding, great AWD. But you can't keep the damn things out of the shop. Polaris seems to be good as long as they are under warranty. Soon as the warranty is out, sell it.
    I have no idea about CF Moto, no experience with them.

      my cfmot was brand new and lasted 447 km it ran way too hot and caught on fire.never have a cfmoto again.it burnt my daughters leg.now have a polaris 450 and you feel no heat whatsoever a better drive and much better ride than any cfmotoproduct and i advise people never to buy a cf moto their company puts you on ignore once they realize they have a problem

    Hmmmmmmm To bad you only picked two. The Polaris for long term durability in my neck of the woods{ From friends and personal experience} in N.E. breaks down alot. Whereas I went with the Arctic Cat Altera 450. In my experience and that of alot of N.E. friends Arctic Cat (especially the Altera series) is right up there with the toughest and most durable machines on the market. especially the 2021.
