      Secondly, wolverine's healing factor has always been insane. Even since the 80s and 90s, he's been depicted as basically unkillable..... Besides that, the adamantium literally weakens his healing factor so we rarely even see it at full strength.

    • @yessum15
      @yessum15 2 месяца назад +9

      @@Saxandfifths Spiderman: Through to the mid 1990s Marvel listed Spiderman's official strength limit at around 10 tons. (guide books, trading cards, etc.) and generally depicted him hovering around that limit.
      The few instances where he exceeded that limit were depicted as being in moments of extreme emotion (eg: a mother lifting a car off her child) or simply because the writer did not know the actual weight of the item in question.
      Wolverine: His healing factor went wild after Magneto removed the adamantium from him (~1995) and it never went back down since. Prior to that he was depicted as extremely fast healing but to a reasonable extent. He was far from immortal and multiple characters had effectively succeeded in bringing him to a brink that was only avoided through the administration of emergency medicine (Wendigo, Sabertooth, Omega Red, etc.)
      I guess I was wrong about that being the majority of the character's run with Wolverine, since he's a young character, but it was for Spiderman.

I forgot they basically gave Spidey a power boost (probably from his popularity skyrocketing) from his original levels. But then again, I guess that's normal since Superman has gone through similar power leaps. Most heroes do and I guess it's due to popularity and even just a way to up the stakes in those stories.
      What you said about wolverine makes perfect sense because I do remember as a kid him being less unstoppable. I don't think he'd have regenerated from a single cell back then but now, he's definitely doing wild shit like this and it's expected.

    • @yessum15
      @yessum15 2 месяца назад +12

      It's been previously stated that his healing factor prioritizes head injuries, so my guess is that it in accordance with this principle, it prioritizes reconstruction of the brain and nervous system in general. Which might include both pain receptors and the cognitive functions which allow the mind to somatically create the sensation of some pain irrespective of the existence of pain receptors.

      @@Absolutely_puck_fakestine The brain is a series of electrical circuits which conduct various patterns of electricity. The "wiring" is made of neurons and the connection junctions between these wires are called synapses.
      A memory is a particular pattern of electrical signal that runs through a particular wired circuit that the brain has built. If the memory is accessed repeatedly over a long course of time, the brain thickens and strengthens those neurons so that the signal is transmitted better. These are strong memories. If the memory is accessed rarely then the wiring remains really weak, and in some cases the neurons are disassembled so that the resources can be used for something else.
      In other words, our memories are just an expression of the shape of the brain and it's particular wiring pattern.
      Wolverine's healing factor always reconstructs him in whatever state he was in last. For example, if he weighed 200lb before, he'll weigh 200lb afterwards. He will never heal with longer hair than he had before being injured.
      Applying that to the brain, the healing factor should aim to rebuild the brain precisely the way it was before. If it doesn't change the shape of his nose or his muscles, why would it suddenly get creative and change the shape of his brain? It will simply restore the precise wiring pattern that existed before.
      When Wolverine begins thinking again, the electrical signals will just follow the way the wires are etched, since electricity generally takes the path of least resistance. So his memories should remain intact.

    • @yessum15
      @yessum15 2 месяца назад +4

      @@Absolutely_puck_fakestine Short answer: His memories (like everyone's) are stored in the particular shape and pattern of his neurons and synapses.
      His healing factor always rebuilds the body precisely in the same state it was before injury. This would include the shape and connection pattern the neurons & synapses.
      When he begins thinking again, the electrical current will follow the pattern of the present wiring, since electricity always follows the path of least resistance. Thus the memories should be the same.

      He has even stated in comics himself that taking his head off, killing the brain, or drowning would kill him.
      He drowned his own son with the same level of healing as him in a mid puddle.
      When Nitro burned him, no limbs were lost, and his brain was intact. You can even see his eyes in other images.
      In the Age of Apocalypse, Logan only has one hand permanently.
      In Ultimates Hulk rips Wolverine in two, Logan then has to crawl a great distance to find his legs.
