I was giving a music tutorial on a white board. I was teaching the progressions in Georgia by Hoagy Carmichael. I said Fmaj7. Emin7b5 A7b9..etc. As I wrote them I realized that Hoagy was using the 7ths of F. Face Gmin7 Amin7 Bbmaj7 C7 Dmin7 Emin7b5 Face.. I went min or dominant sometimes. When I realized this I determined to step up my game. I started with the key of Db..Since then I have done many improves just using the Db key. As time goes on I have found this key to habe a certain richness. Just the other day..I found that the dom fifth Ab7. can be appreciated up and down with one finger. Makes since using all black keys..Ican only hit. part of the mixolydian mode. Ab Bb Db Eb Gb. The best.Looking forward to your new post.
