Apparently this does actually take place during the anime just in Korea which makes since its a global alien invasion. It'd be cool to see what that invision looks like in other countries if they decide to make a Parasyte anthology where every country gets their chance to tell a story within that universe.

It looks decent, but it kinda breaks continuity with the anime badly.
You can't have a parasyte and a human share a head.
When the parasyte takes the head, that's it for the human.
It's only the humans who managed to somehow prevent the parasyte from getting into their head that managed to live as 'hybrids' like the protagonist of the anime who has a parasyte in his arm.

Show is everything that Disney wish it could be. Smart writing, intelligent characters, and no stupidity.
With Disney shows, every 5 minutes you are treated to something stupid. Could be dialogue. Could be character action. Could be story. You just never know. But by the end of show, you encounter at least 60% stupidity in the show.

They also explained and stuck on what we know about the parasites on the original manga and anime, managing to make a new symbiotic relationship of parasite/human without destroying the foundation of the world nor forcing the narrative in a new direction to accomodate the new idea.
It's amazing and the people that worked on this series know about the work they're building on, and doesn't see it as a cheap way of fame by riding on an already known media but appreciate the original work and the world it was build upon.

koreans are masters at taking goofy source materials and adapting them into film/tv works that people can actually take seriously. i noticed that japanese live-actions are usually just as ridiculous as the source materials (they don't tone down the ridiculousness at all), so the only explanation is that they're probably aimed towards the exact same audiences who enjoyed the source materials. that's why it's so refreshing to see this visionary korean director making the necessary adjustments to turn a goofy manga into a serious cinematic work, he toned down the ridiculousness of the source material to a minimum and basically turned it into a serious detective/crime/investigation show with a sci/fi element.
what's interesting is that when the visionary japanese director takashi miike made his debut in the k-drama industry, he did the exact same thing: he made a dark, gritty k-drama with a sci/fi element, which looked completely different compared to the over-the-top stuff he usually produces in japan, so i remember having the exact feeling i had while watching yeon sang ho's parasyte. and this is offtopic but if i were to compare yeon sang ho's "parasyte" with takashi miike's "connect", both are fantastic (and surprisingly similar), but i gotta say i enjoyed Connect a bit more, i highly recommend it, like i said it's meant to be taken seriously so i recommend it to everyone not just manga fans (same goes for yeon sang ho's parasyte the grey).

Are you implying the original Parasyte manga/anime is goofy and hard to take it seriously? Bad take. I kinda agree with the rest of the comment tho.

    • @kpop2nd
      @kpop2nd 10 месяцев назад +1

@@seka1nix stuff like manga and anime are childish (almost by definition), especially from the perspective of the general public. the general public is made up of common folks (your neighbors, your teachers, etc.), and the truth is these people will never have anything to do with mangas and anime. so if a film director wants the general public to take his live-action seriously, he has no choice but to tone down the ridiculousness/goofiness of the source material, otherwise the only people who will enjoy his adaptation will be the fans of the original source material (in other words, he would be producing a cult film or a cult series).

@@kpop2nd Dude that is a really bad take what you just said, that's like saying Berserk or Vinland Saga is goofy, anime and manga have different genres ya know. It can be sci-fi, action, comedy, romance, fantasy, etc.

Calling 寄生獣 Goofy is an absurdly poor choice of word to say the least. Manga is not by definition childish in our culture. I would argue if your country find manga childish or goofy then it’s your country’s loss.

My greatest theory on why the Parasyte hasn't taken over the female MC:
Her accident might be fatal. Like, the road she drove was, like, a bridge? She went from great heights, so she might be in the face of death... UNTIL!!!
The consumption process for a Parasyte might take time, stated by the Parasyte itself. I'll call them Ban, which means "Half." Now, Ban is also dying, so, despite taking over the female MC's head, they are also running out of time and settled to half of her face. Thus, our new female MC with Ban is born.
(I haven't finished the anime, nor I tackled the manga, so I beg your pardon for that.)
PS: This takes place in the same universe, but in a different setting. Oh well, let's see how other countries face the Parasytes.

Parasite" is a famous Japanese manga beloved by many anime enthusiasts. It's exciting to see a Korean adaptation being made of this manga.

It was actually really good. It highly reminded me of Venom since both organisms have to live symbiotically in order to survive for the main character just as well.

Just finished episode 6... Hell yea, Shinichi. If possible, budget needs to be increased for season 2, not to look cheap (I'm referring to the storyline), but I suppose it's possible this was intentional, to save the best for the other season(s).
Everyone needs to be honest with themselves, and just admit season 2 can be done a lot better, which would increase the number of episodes.
