    Finally someone throws some drive on this bass and puts it on RUclips! I was super curious how it would sound with some OD/distortion/fuzz, so thanks. Sounds great as I expected it.

    I love the sound and aesthetic of this bass, so cool the way both humbuckers are thick and warm, but also have a clarity to them. The only thing I’d change on this bass is adding a concentric volume pot for the pickups so you can blend the levels of each pickup in the middle position. But in its stock form, an absolute killer.

    I tried this bass with my gear on my local music shop because it was warmly suggested by a friend of mine since I’m looking for a short scale for my new pop punkish project.
    I was A LOT skeptical about those mudbuckers for something similar to punk, but my god, that bridge pu soloed , played with a puck and with a little saturation from the vintage microtubes circuit of my head is pure gold for a tone!
    And the build quality for that price point?? Let’s just hope that squier qc department has received an improvement and keeps quality consistent
    I haven’t bought it yet just because I want to try other short scale basses, but for now it is on the top of my list!

    Which would you choose between a Squier Paranormal Rascal Bass HH or a Squier Classic Vibe Jaguar Bass?

  • @willistaylor4077

    I was going to buy one, and found it too heavy for my liking, and thought the neck was also not wide enough for my liking.
    I ended up buying a Gretsch G2220 Short-scale Bass.

    Curious.. I am a small person and have left arm pain when playing a full scale... overall is this a shorter reach for the first couple of frets? I want this but afraid it will not actually be shorter.

    • @JonnyDibble
      @JonnyDibble  Год назад +2

      Hi! Yes it’s a shorter 30” scale so easier to get around the whole fretboard. It’s not just less frets, it’s smaller 😊

    Sounds nice and rich plus full, but the bridge being so far in makes it look very odd.
    This is probably why the string tension feels tauter, with less distance to span from bridge to nut....🤔

    • @JonnyDibble
      @JonnyDibble  Год назад +1

      I thought a shorter scale = lower tension?

    • @mr_ozzio5095
      @mr_ozzio5095 Год назад

      @@JonnyDibble Have you ever twanged a ruler, on the edge of a table.. i bet you have! The more you shorten the ruler, the tauter the ruler gets the sound becomes sharper.. That's my take on it!

    • @JonnyDibble
      @JonnyDibble  Год назад +2

      @@mr_ozzio5095 Shorter scale basses do typically have a lower string tension, extended scale basses also exist to tighten strings when down tuning (I agree, it shouldn’t make sense! 😝)
      The string gauge and string-thru set up might be playing a part

  • @diluteduk
    @diluteduk Год назад +5

    If the bridge was further back and it was long scale I'd be all over it. It's heavy because the body is huge.

    • @reneebear3641
      @reneebear3641 Год назад +1

      Did you try it? It takes a sec to get used to but plays surprisingly similar to my bass VI, which makes sense considering the nut & saddles are literally in the exact same spot, however of course this has bass string spacing, I really enjoyed playing this thing in guitar center for a while aside from trying to slap which was a nightmare

    • @davisousa9136

  • @robjones7725

    Like the colour and pups but not my shape, so not for me. I've got a HB ray clone and that thumps well and was as cheap as chips! Longer term I fancy a Marcus Miller M5, which is tremendous value for the quality and vast versatility on offer from Sire basses.

    • @JonnyDibble
      @JonnyDibble  Год назад

      I had the M7 and it sounded fantastic!

    • @robjones7725
      @robjones7725 Год назад

      @@JonnyDibble The M5 has the same pickups and electronics and hardware but is quite a bit cheaper because of the lack of flamed maple top/matching headstock and one piece neck on the M7. They sound the same pretty much and I like the ash bodied M5 with the see through graining. For me the M5 is better value for money.

    Yeah, it’s like a longscale if from top of headstock to the very end of the body, the bridge being so high up on the body makes the nut to bridge 30 inches. I would grab one if that bridge was moved back four inches.
