Thank you for this upload Jane, sad to hear that Mrs. Johnson's Emporeum is closing, I have recommended the shop to many fibre crafters since you first took us around it. The damage that the ex Hartes building dereliction has done to this area is immense. From what I have gathered this has been a mixture of red tape and intransigence. the two aspects that also have blighted so much in so many towns and cities. Thinking out of the regulation box would it not have been easier to let the owner have his planned car park but on the basis that after ten years had passed it becomes available for commercial development? This would have provided income for the owner and relieved the retailers in the vincinity of this terrible blot on the area. It amazes me that when certain bodies want to change the designation of green belt or brown belt etcetera the rules can be altered but when circumstances like this and many others in Blackpool and other towns/resorts arise the red tape comes first even at the expense of all those investing in the area. The church is indeed a building of great value, sadly so many churches cannot be maintained as they should with fewer and fewer congregants and this remaining unable to spare enough when problems arise. I hope this excellent example has a vibrant community to sustain it. The scheme to improve and rationalise the area is a good one, I hope that whatever is done creates sustainability. The vital spark that enables a positive future.
We always stay around here when we are visiting Blackpool, we love its honely feel, lovely to know that some of the streets will hopefully be getting looked after a bit better, lots if the buildings are really lovely if you look a little longer, as youve shown in your great video ❤😊
Hi Jane thank you for another great video as always its such a shame to see the boarded up buildings it spoils the look of Blackpool the town has do much to offer and has some equally beautiful buildings too fantastic video have a lovely evening xx
Hi Jane that was a very interesting and informative vlog! Blackpool is very good at regenerating itself.... I am upset to see that Colin (seaside) is having to close his channel due to health concerns! He will be missed, his style was so unique... Until the next one, please give my best wishes to the teaboys
Good afternoon Jane, lovely walk around, looks a lovely day there. I'd love a tour round the big church, bet its lovely inside, can you go in anytime? Would love a vlog,😉. Thanks for the knowledge, amazing to hear it, Blackpool Weekend was amazing, take care and thanks again 😊xx
The essitanals building use to be post office as I move to Blackpool in 1989 and the post office was that one you just pasted with the letter nals on end as I remember going in there (am deaf and can’t spell)
I agree that there are some really lovely old buildings that are well worth saving. We only ventured as far as the excellent toy museum. Sadly the state of our towns seems to be a nationwide problem.

I don't know Hazel, good question. I love these old churches and buildings. I would have asked but a funeral was in full swing when I was there.
@@visitfyldecoast Hi Jane, maybe next time eh 😊x
Hartes should be put back as a department store like it was!
You should do more videos on buildings

Essentials was the "New Market". Next door was Waterloo Market. The post office was across the road.
The Royal Oak pub fireplace was carved by Robert Thompson, the famous "mouseman".
That's the one

Thanks for sharing Jane😊
I never really thought about these buildings but if you like Victorian architecture then Southport is the best for that.
There is some fine buildings there
What a brilliant video thank you

Hi from Paul Goodwin Whitfield
All those old buildings need preserving, I really dislike the new lego looking ones. I hope they get sorted soon. It would look amazing.
The post office was on the right ❤

It's a great shop - I've been in it a few times on my 'Today In' vlogs
Holy Trinity is known as "Blackpool Cathedral".
I didn't know that
Waterloo had 2 markets
It did, I remember them well

Oh I didn’t know - I’ve kept asking after him and people don’t seem to have seen him for a while. I am sorry, Colin is such a lovely chap ❤️
@@visitfyldecoast Check out his vlog from this morning
A real mix of buildings, some OK, quite a few very shabby probably past redemption, no continuity, shame
