I can look down on the Snake River from my living room and my family of violinist has lived on it's banks for over 100 years and I have never heard of this tune. (MY ancestors would come out of their graves and git me if I called the violin a fiddle)
Nice version! I play it, but mine is simpler, especially my A part. Curious what you can tell me about the fiddle. Known maker or unlabeled? Sounds good.
Sorry for not responding to your question earlier. Colin Blair was my fiddle and banjo teacher for a few years. The fiddle in this video was owned by a musician who had a few fiddles and let Colin try them out and they came to an agreement. No label, just an incredible sound. Cost was somewhere south of $10,000. I have been told by numerous professional musicians that the best way to get a quality instrument is to buy it from a professional musician. Be prepared to pay more than you were planning, but you are guaranteed getting a professional level instrument. Of course, professionals are picky about who they sell to unless they need the money, so it may take a while to find one.
Nicely done!
