  • The Princess X80 is a genre-busting creation from the Plymouth-based yard that boasts a five-cabin layout on a boat of only 25m.
In this walkthrough tour and review of the Princess X80, filmed during the Düsseldorf Boat Show, Carl Richardson guides you through one of the most inventive models that Princess Yachts has made.
Borrowing the ‘super fly’ concept from its larger sister, the X95, the X80’s only helm is on the top deck with an upper saloon and aft deck stretching out behind. This leaves space on the main deck for either an extended living space that runs right forward to the windscreen or a main deck owner’s cabin. Sliding doors on the port side of the cabin lead directly to the foredeck, creating a semi-private terrace for those using the cabin.
This leaves four further cabins on the lower deck, three of which are ensuite doubles. The full-beam suite amidships becomes the owner’s cabin if you don’t opt for the main deck cabin.
With a pair of 1,900hp MAN V12 diesels, the X80’s performance is impressive and the boat will crack 30 knots.

There are excellent British yacht builders and then there is Princess. This is a classy yacht both on the exterior and the interior. The colours, the lighting, the textures, the details right down to the ventilation portholes fashings, the large windows. How Princess use the space in all areas its s masterclasses in ship design.

Well, I am not a fan of this bold exterior shapes but I have to admit that this one is really amazing. Princess at its best! Great tour also... Thanks Carl!

It's a great tour, even not all "bespoken" the graphics helping a lot even some nay don't like them. Price wise a bit hefty, but a great yacht for charter with 5 bedrooms. Fantastic modern crew area for private use, just thinking for charter use 2 people maybe not enough for

Hi - loved the video. Love the boat. It is one I'd dream of having. A lot of yachts are "interesting" more than liked. There are a number of other channels that tour and review yachts. Every channel has it's own take on them and it is good to have a number of different points of view. YachtBuyer is more overview and photography that focuses on where a boat is in the market and how this boat is differentiated from others. I already know that a crewed 80 foot yacht will have washing machines so I may not care so much, but, a 40 for 50 footer may not so it is more important then. I will point out to other viewers that this is a 4K video and RUclips supports frame by frame stepping through the video by pausing and using the period and comma keys. Pause the video and the arrow keys step through by 5 second increments. The "J" and "L" keys step by 10 second increments and the "K" stops and starts the video, as does the space bar. The 4K means you can step with almost no distortion. You can stop and count Carl's teeth - or drawers. Yea drawers are much better.
I like having the GA shown and where you are. Also loved the internal stairs - that doesn't happen much anymore and I really like the finishes.

Wow what a channel, you're producing presentation/movie videos, superb. 👏👏👏
What an absolutely gorgeous yacht, I'm a fan of Princess Yachts for a reason, stunning yacht and that upper helm needs a second seat for Chewbacca to sit in, what a helm. ❤️
    👍❤️🇬🇧

it amazes me about boat designs. I thought the purpose of having a boat was to enjoy the water, evidently not. when viewing videos the cockpit sitting is mostly looking at the back of the boat, and if you need to use the head, you have to go through the whole boat to get to one. if I'm on the water, I want to look out and appreciate being in it, and since I'd probably be playing in the water (hence the boat) I wouldn't want to get the "dry" part of the boat wet just using the head. oh, and they usually give you a frig on the smaller ones that only hold a 12 pack!

Great boat and really nice video and commentary. Especially appreciate the graphics floorplan. Love the quality of finish on this one, Princess really do have a decent edge over Sunseeker.
Wondering what the range is if you knock the throttles back?

What's sad is that I know some people with a 75', 77' and even an 83' yacht and they struggle to get 4 cabins in them and 2 crew bunks...not even separate cabins but just bunks. And here we have this 80 that you can get with a hot tub..and they can't get that, 5 cabins, 2 crew and a spot to keep the dinghy and probably if they ditched the hot tub up front, could get 2 jet skis or 1 at least up front and 1 on the back boat deck. The Sirena 87 had 2 hot tubs and 3 or 4 crew. Granted it's bugger but it had 5 cabins as well. I just don't get these people that get traw,er or explorer style yachts around this size and they should have all the room in the world and they are cramming 4 cabins in there and one of the cabins is in the sky lounge like a Numarine 37XP. Insanity. For the price plus the space you are getting and the build quality, hands down one of the best yachts on the market. Ocean Alexander 26E or even the 32E, Blue Game 70 and the Sirena 78 are all about the best yachts on the market right now for the money. I hate to say it because it's my favorite style of yacht, but the explorer yacht trend is really going away unless those builders that can actually pull them off, get something out there that offers the space for the money. Bering, Van DerWalk, Rosetti, CdM and Cheoy Lee will keep their edge in the market because it's what they do and have perfected along with a few others, but the rest will have to go back to making wedding cakes and planing hull boats.

Like the boat , but the main deck bedroom is not for me , prefer to enjoy a view ,so would break with others and have the country kitchen , but then I guess it will be charter use more often , still another great review

Hmm. I can’t help the feeling that the boat is just a bit to small to get the full benefit of the layout. The main deck master and upper lounge are both a wee bit cramped. It’ll be interesting to see how the Pearl 82 stacks up.

These are made for charter. They don't need a heaping ton of space because the point of them is to get them on the charter market going into this recession economy. People will still want to charter yachts, but going into a recessionary economy, these boats will do better and are more likely to stay chartered. That 70'-85' is the sweet spot for chartering with minimal crew and sacrificing a cabin for an extra bunk, and a washer/dryer plus deep freezer will make these a hit

New thing that would be nice to me is to pause for just a bit before you cut scenes. For example, when you went to the top deck the camera panned to give an excellent view of the entire deck with a cut to the person talking. A small pause before the cut would allow one to “take in” that view before going back to the narrator. I love the camera work, but just some pause (half second or so) before cut would be nice. (And thanks for taking the suggestion of leaving the specs a bit longer.)

No interior dinning on a 80 foot 6 million pound yacht is absurd! That dinning table in saloon looks absolutely atrocious! Seperate dinning and saloon you get on 60 plus footers! It's under 50 foot were you don't have room for both! Happy sailing all and God bless all 🙏❤⚓🛥

Not good. Very disjointed views of cabins etc, does not give an easy understanding of the geography of the vessel. A continuous view of different parts of the vessel is needed.

Your constant layout graphics takes away from the video tour .. the filming of the video is poor as the camera doesnt cover everything the way it should ..
