- LeBron James (23 points, nine rebounds, nine assists), D’Angelo Russell (21 points, six assists, five 3PT FG), and Anthony Davis (20 points, 15 rebounds, three blocks) combine for 64 points to lead the Lakers over the Pelicans, 110-106, securing the seven seed in the Western Conference Playoffs. Zion Williamson tallied 40 points, 11 rebounds and five assists for the Pelicans in the losing effort. The Lakers will face the Denver Nuggets in the first round of the 2024 NBA Playoffs with Game 1 Saturday, April 20, while the Pelicans will face the winner Warriors-Kings for a chance at the eight seed Friday, April 19.

Another buffoon. Pre-pandemic there were 8 seeds. The play in was the result of an imbalanced schedule, so Portland and Memphis played. The NBA got greedy and eliminating the 7th and 8th seeds so they could squeeze 4 more games worth of money out of. I guess if you were a 4 year old, you wouldn’t know that. The Lakers would be in the playoffs anyway.
In the play-in era the Lakers have never finished 9 or 10, the play-in has never benefited them.
