Eddie was a legend in the neon community, and did so much for enthusiasts after his retirement. I wish he had more recognition and was better known while he was with us. Thank you Ed!
Great American Engineer, no doubt! \m/
We will miss you Ed. You were a blessing to the SRT4 community. Rest Eazy
Ed reworked the guts of my neons's t850 at 140k, and I ran the M1 10w40 high mileage. It ran another 100k and shifted great the whole time. RIP to a real one.
RIP thank you for all your knowledge!!

$110 on a maddog shifter beats the living hell out of a $400+ billet shift fork that you have to crack the trans for. Good info, man!
Does anyone even know where to find mattdog kits anymore? I'm tryna play with my Neon before a 2.4 swap
Definitely informative
My god did I learn a lot!
Awesome info. I've got a NV-T350 I need him to fix.
great info!
Bro playing Paul revere at the beginning killed it
lol
Look at that paint job on the srt4 behind them!
so when adjusting the crossover do you need to go all the way left and all the way right?
have to agree 100%
that is one smart gentlemen
did you put in the friction modifier in it?? or just the oil??
Wish I was there
Most helpful vid ever. mobile one oil time as soon as i get a Srt4 lol
Genius
Anyone know any of the forums screen names of the people standing in the background?
So is the mobil 1 high mileage only for the NSRT-4? Or will it work on my CSRT-4??
Badass bro. I'm a mopar service technician trainee, and I haven't heard about any of these tips. Looks like I'll have a slight edge eventually. Thank you!
Oh, and I drive an srt4 so it helps extra extra there! :)
im thinking of purchasing a 2004 or 5 dodge neon srt4 . i want to know if these cars are reliable and good for daily driver. an if there are any major problems with this car , thank you
ok sooo...is he using engine oil in the gearbox??? wich one is it??? i want to try that
I'd like to know the part number of the RTV he mentioned.
Can i use mobile one 10w 30 on my caliber srt4 instead of atf+4 oil i don't know if he is including dodge caliber srt4 on he's speech
sucks I just brought engine modifier like a month ago but didn't put it in yet!
Now can I just adjust the maddogg with the cables attached ??
Is the high milage 10w40 synthetic or no?...
can we use 5w40 during hard winter?
@EDGARKINGLOVE
I've used Motor oil in a lot of heavy duty auto trans. Works just fine.
Okay so how often do you change (Motor oil) in the transmission? And if your using motor oil do you still need friction modifier with it?
He said not to use it
@@christopherbassit2757 not to use friction modifier?
So what is it use it or not use it? 02 dodge neon 5 speed manual, I've been reading forums for two days and watched this video twice and I'm even further away from what oil to use in my transmission then when I started. First everyone including the dealership says use atf-4..then people say ABSOLUTELY DO NOT USE IT, then people say everything from 5w30 motor oil to 75w gear lube but then say absolutely don't use those either..I'm pulling my beard out over hear. They also say if you use motor oil you must put a friction modifier in it..and all this info is from supposed professionals, this video says to use motor oil Mobil one high milage but doesn't specify full synthetic or what grade to use..as of my comment here now in 2023 they don't make an oil no more that's not atleast part synthetic or pure. No more regular oil and they dramatically lowered the phosphorus and zink in all all oils. So what now lol, I think I'll just leave my 200,000 mile old oil in there and top it off with whatevers in my cabinet that I grab first if it's low when I check it😂
Peters shows in detail the result of the purposeful MOPAR lowering of quality for increased profit and perfect execution of a planned obsolesence program. 60,000 miles and a complete teardown is necessary. Only salvation...popularity of a specific model and a willing aftermarket willing to feed that popularity. He has a perfect gig to subsidize his pending retirement. Need for speed needs tons of cash and those willing to pay. It is what it is...to each his own.
I saw on Modern Performance to put 5w-30 or 10w-30 but here I see 10w-40 which one should I use?
Mobil 1 High Mileage Full Synthetic 5W-30 or 10W-30 ,its on modern performance web page
U just have to remember the 1030 will be thicker. It's your preference depending on the temps in your area and how hard you drive your car.
Synchromesh
@@SkittlefabzSRT4 syndromemesh what? That's not an engine oil. I'm pulling my hair out with what to use lol, everybody says something different, don't ise Motor oil, don't use gear oil, put friction modifier, don't put friction modifier, do this exact thing, absolutely don't do that exact thing🤯 2 days of reading and I'm no closer to my answer, this video doesn't specify what grade or rather it's full synthetic or regular, also it's 2023 now and they don't make regular and they drastically deceased the zddp and phosphorus in all oils across the board.
and does he has a facebook pages
i need to ask him whats wrong with my 05 srt-4 transmission.
Dodge should have sourced the SRT4 transmission from Getrag for the Neon. NVG was junk. Hence why they don't exist anymore.
Is the SRT4 and the Caliber the same manual transmission
no
modern performance

I have 2003 srt4 neon with broken shift fork how much would local transmission shop charge me
Its easy to replace the hardest part is removing the tranny if you dont have the time. Probably around $600 for labor + parts
@ 22.50 ...
when he says friction modifier is he talking ..products like lucas transmission fix
Bryan Beltran Such as GM Synchromesh
Mobil 1 high mileage go to 7 min
My mind is completely blown. Did he really say you can use engine oil in the transmission? Did I misunderstand something because I was always told the two fluids cannot be used interchangeably as ATF has the detergents and cleaners that EO to keep passage ways clean and leaving no residue on moving metal or non metal pieces.
Bob Sagget a manual is a gearbox not a transmission. Oil is what you run in them.
Use the 10-40w only if you drive your car hard or drag it. For dd, mopar ATF+. Friction mod is the best. Just changed out every 25k.
trans tech is all ways good . lots of bs on neon sites.
