I'm glad everyone is finally broadcasting their love of FNAF World.
For the longest time, all I heard from people is that they hated it, but it is probably my favorite FNAF game--both for aesthetics and for gameplay.

Mid 30s mom who became a FNAF fan due to my now-teen. Sister Location is my favorite
It was the game that pulled me in from ND mom listening to kiddo's hyperfixation to game and funko buying fan
It was the big lore dump. It confirmed Afton family names and relationships in game for the first time.
I like watching horror games. But had tried FNAF 1 release week and hated the gameplay style. I'm an rpg-er. Completionist achievement hunting 100%-er. I do not enjoy watching speedruns. I like watching VODs amd MatPat, Grey Still Plays, Lets Game it Out, and Real Civil Engineer. I spend hundreds of hours in games before starting main questlines
The only FNAF games I've played and enjoyed were Sister Location and Pizza Sim. I like old Sierra point and clicks. I liked Phantasmagoria and Phantasmaphobia. I like both point and click and horror genres. But I don't like playing the old style FNAF games. Looking forward to Into the Pit
All that to say that people who like Sister Location just aren't speedrunners like you. We like story, lore, and taking a long time diving deep into each game we play

@@Kelso_Belso It's a lot to try to follow. Have you shown her the Ballora song? It's what piqued my genuine interest. Also was drawn in by Mangle. Sun/Moon/Eclipse are favorites from the new cast
If mom isn't into horror at all she might prefer hearing about the mystery aspects. Or hearing about the characters' interpersonal conflict/drama/The Immortal and the Restless/Afton vs Emily

From my experience, anyone who has played Sister Location once or twice likes it and anyone who has played it more doesn't. Sister Location is a great example of the game you should only play once. It's really cool that first time but when you play it more cracks start to form. It's the same thing with no variation, I have to listen to the dialog every time (If you don't know about CTRL S), I already know the story, the really engaging part of the game. I like Sister Location and have only played it once and I know if I played it more times that i would HATE it. In the end I feel that it all comes down to if you've tainted your perception of the game through replays.

As someone who's favorite games are Sister Location and Security Breach, it's annoying when people think just cuz it's not for them doesn't mean it's bad. I get overwhelmed easily with fast paced games. I LOVE just walking around maps and doing silly little tasks for hours. I'm a book and art nerd what matters more to me is experience, concepts, and story. Also helps that I'm an only child so I know how to entertain myself with a cardboard box lol.

Ultimate Custom Night had the unfortunate origins of being a challenge with all the hype leading up to its release being the question "will it be beatable" and, if so, "who will be the first." Therefore, while FNAF World was made as a fun sidegame, UCN was a gauntlet to run.

I LOVE the sister location gang but the game they get introduced in is just so bad . It manages to waste everyone's potential with such a horrible gameplay , and don't get me started on night 4 and the horrible checkpoint system. That game had nothing but an ok night 2 , a great boss fight and a custom night that isn't a CUSTOM night ( it's fun though to be fair)
It all adds up into the least replayable fnaf game along side ruin imo which suffers from similar issues

      The lore is even worse.
Arguably it still hasn't been solved and the teasers point towards an abused, Frankenstein esque plot, but it gets super muddled somewhere along the way. The story is not conveyed well at all and the lore even worse.

I think most of the Scott-era FNAF games are really well designed for what they are. They're simple, yes, but the fun comes from being thrown in the deep end with minimal explanation besides what is absolutely required and then learning to master them over time. In a lot of ways some of them are really stripped down rhythm games. What's monotonous or not fun to one person could be extremely engaging to another; when the games are so simple it's way more about the perspective you approach them with and what you're looking to get out of them than there being a black and white answer to which ones are or aren't fun.

Ruin actually made me disappointed only because I had hoped for a fix-it DLC. I really did see the potential in Security Breach and wanted to see a sobered up take on fixing it. Ruin was great but it also foreclosed a Security Breach retooling from being a thing.
Also it feels like such a shame to have built the pizzaplex as an idea and place, and then immediately have it canononically destroyed. It was supposed to be the start of a whole new chapter, and then Ruin kind of hastily closed that chapter. In embarrassment. If we never get anymore pizzaplex content, I think that's a crying shame.

I feel like I'm the only one that feels like it's the opposite: Security Breach is tainted by Ruin's existence.
I had a lot of fun playing SB, and Ruin was one of the most mindless, boring, and cheap gaming experiences I've ever had.
They were playing it so safe after SB that they removed all the gameplay and left Ruin as a glorified SB walking simulator.

i had the same experience 😬 i loved the openness of sb. i know it was a mess and it needed more direction and it just wasn't polished, but the ambience and the sheer size of the mall was really amazing to me. I loved to take breaks from the story to just walk around and explore. Ruin was boring. It was like a childrens game holding your hand through a click and point game.

Oh before I get into the video I wanna throw mine out there too: fnaf 1, 2, 4, and sl are all fun but do not hold a replay appeal to me at all. Fnaf 3 is horrible and I cannot stand it. Fnaf world is by far the most unique and pretty fun but not quite for me 😂. Eveything in steel wool era has by far been my favourite for a variety of reasons with both help wanted games as the top of the heap... except for the carniw games in help wanted 2 lol. Ruin is just really fun. security breach.... oh boy is probably my most replayed game, despite the glitches and the bad story elements and the often irritating gameplay it is the only game I 100% twice for the platinum trophies on both ps4 and ps5 versions and was definitely fun to play once you knew the jank😂. And above all, security breach reignited my love for this franchise unlike the other games. So oddly, thank you steel wool for a broken lost potential pile of glitch and jank😂

I personally don't understand the whole FNaF4 was meant to be the Bite of '87 and Scott somehow forgot that it was already done and over with in FNaF2. I know he's made odd choices and maybe not thought certain things all the way through before but this just seems too ridiculous of a case to have happened, especially when FNaF4 was designed to be the end and expand on what existed, not alter it for the sake of altering it. Everyone is more than aware of how Scott intentionally tricked all of us into thinking FNaF2 was a sequel when it was actually a prequel, and I think that's what happened with FNaF4 as well.
The Bite of '87 was never meant to be significant. It was nothing more than a one-off comment to give players an idea of how dangerous the animatronics can be and nothing more. Despite this, it became one of if not the biggest talking points in the community with everyone speculating about which of the 5 characters at the time might have been responsible for it. It got to a point where people started lying about a secret ending if the Custom Night was completed with a difficulty setting of 1/9/8/7. In response through an update to the game, Scott added a new easter egg. 1/9/8/7 is no longer a playable difficulty setting instead resulting in a Golden Freddy jumpscare. Obviously all this ended up doing was fueling the debate more, especially in regards to Golden Freddy's likeness to be the culprit due to this new easter egg.
To put an end to what was never meant to be something so important, FNaF2's ending event would be that very bite. It would turn out that not a single character from the first game was responsible for it, even Golden Freddy despite the relation he had been given to it in FNaF1 because of that easter egg. Despite our culprits changing, it would ultimately still not be intended to be that important so we still never got an answer as to who did it specifically other than it now being one of the Toys (excluding BB and the Puppet due to their static mouths). People still didn't get the picture though and so it would continue to be one of the biggest points of speculation. FNaF3 would ignore it entirely but once FNaF4 came along and it was intended to put an end to certain lingering questions, now seemed like a time to finally put that debate to rest after it had gone on for so long when it was never meant to go anywhere.
Right of the bat we go the Was It Me? teasers featuring nightmarish versions of the original characters. Red Flag #1: We already knew as of FNaF2 that it wasn't one of the originals, it was a Toy animatronic, as they were the ones scrapped as a result of the bite, not the originals. There were also 8s and 7s popping up everywhere in the source of Scott's website. Red Flag #2: We already knew that the original Freddy's was closed by '87 and that it was left to rot for at least a couple of years as told to us by Phone Guy. Then came some teasers showing Nightmare Fredbear and a partially obscured piece of text referring to Fredbear's Family Diner. Red Flag #3: We already knew that just like Freddy's, Fredbear's had already been closed and for a longer time than Freddy's. Neither could have been open in '87. Lastly, the 7s in the source code began to change to 2s, then 3s. Red Flag #4: The baiting towards '87 was changing to the truth of '83. The discrepancies of 2s in the mix is already clear as to why they were there as seen through The Silver Eyes. Scott didn't seem to be sure on whether he wanted the events relating to the time of Fredbear's to be in '82 or '83. It worked by the time of FNaF4 but '82 managed to still slip in to The Silver Eyes but was eventually also altered in The Fourth Closet to be '83 just like the games. Being unsure about a one year difference of when to put the at the time earliest events of the series is not the same as supposedly trying to shove the time of Fredbear's into the same period as FNaF2 and screwing up the timeline in the process.
All of these factors and FNaF4 itself I feel should've made it clear by the time it released that another bait and switch had been done like what Scott did with FNaF2. The Bite of ''87 was never important. Even after it was expanded upon in FNaF2, the Bite of '87 still wasn't important and had even been put to an end in that same game. By the time of FNaF4, the Bite of '87 still wasn't important despite the community still speculating over it so heavily. Instead of letting a pointless debate go on for so long, especially since it was never meant to be such a big deal, how about giving us a bite that actually was important to the story as a whole? Not only that, but turn the dead end that was giving Golden Freddy a sizable amount of relevance to being a culprit into him being that very culprit in this new and actually important bite. The Bite of '83, the supposedly significant that the community had always envisioned as significant as they did, finally given form. Unfortunately they ended up missing the point and ended up getting confused alongside FNaF4 as a whole, and assumed it was the Bite of '87 despite all of the obvious issues with that when you think about it for any longer than 2 seconds.

I've been going back to watch some of these I missed. Tbh I would actually say my biggest gripe with the series is how bad the gameplay in 1-7 is. SL is a bad all around, but not the worst. I'm happy that format died. It was released after, but Into the Pit is a perfect example of why we needed to move away from this style. It became dated. There's better ideas and it allows us to do more. Also FNAF SB is the worst game in the franchise imo.
