Agree with everything you said Tony. I got my PRX for just 32$; my first planar-magnetic set, and i didn't have to tear a hole in my wallet for it, and i'm enjoying the heck out of it too😁 Paul(Wasabii) and I actually have the same hunch, that KZ must now finally have someone doing the tuning who really knows what they are doing. Which I believe is the reason why KZ's recent releases have been well tuned; which I think is also the reason why it took 4 PR iterations for KZ to get this right. They got the right person to do the tuning for the 4th PR iteration. And if KZ keeps this up, and manages to stay away from the unnecessary issues that it got itself into, KZ will truly be a market disruptor. Specially now that brands seem to be focusing more on "price to performance" ratio. I was one of those who took a good long step back from KZ when issues started coming up; didn't even wanna touch any of their stuff not even with a 50-foot pole. But when guys like you and Paul, who were calling out KZ when KZ had to be called out, were giving KZ props when they did something well; then I also decide to give KZ another chance. And I have to say, this is a different KZ, at least the direction they are now taking(which i hope they will continue on in). Right now, I'm enjoying the Saga, Rhapsody, and now, my very first planar-magnetic the PRX. And seeing now that they've finally gotten the tuning of their planar-magnetic right, I'm actually looking forward to seeing what the next iteration of the PR series will be. Maybe an all metal build? Or a dual planar-magnetic driver set with tuning switches maybe? ...who knew i'd be paying attention to KZ again. But like what you said, we gotta give credit to whom credit is due. And that is simply the right, fair, intelligent and mature thing to do. And right now, KZ deserves to get the credit for what they did(and have recently been doing).
This was a very thoughtfully written piece! I never stopped buying KZ because my experience with it was always good and I'm firmly placed in the budget realm( so I can continue this fun hobby😊). And I 💯 agree with you that their tuning has consistently improved over the last while. I'm really enjoying the Saga as well. It seems to have slipped under the radar but is a wonderful offering. To my non audiophile ears, it has maybe the best tuned mids from KZ so far. At least the dozen or so I've bought to this point! Definitely want to try out the planar sound as well. Thanks for the well thought out commentary and thanks to Akros for the review too🙂 Just wanted to mention that I've bought many other budget brands as well ( Moondrop Chu2, Ziigaat Nuo, TRN Orca (very nice one) QKZ HBB Khan, Simgot 200 and lots of others) but I reach for my KZs more than them on a general basis. Just pure fun to listen to 😊 Oh, and I'm thoroughly enjoying their Carol earbuds as well!
@@philipm.4738 You are most welcome Sir! Yes, I also recommend the PRX. If you enjoyed the Saga, you will most definitely enjoy the PRX. But do use an amp for it. I’ve got the PRX today as well as my first planar encounter. I mean it’s dirt cheap but I had higher expectations after hearing so much praise for planar drivers. It’s ok for what it is and i got it for like 39$ with coupons so for that price it’s even great. But I got spoiled listening to gear 10x the price 😂
@@Icecold_Art Try this: use a balanced cable and if possible, set system pregain into the negatives, then push your amp's volume UP. This is my method. I set negative gain on EqualizerAPO and my mobile app, Musicolet. If you have the option to set pregain into negative db (-10db, onwards...I like -30), try it on other sets as well. Scale them up. The PRX just needs juice.
I love my Sgor Luna and my KZ PR2 v3, I don't mind to much about the juice needed because also have a fiio ka11 dongle dac to power those bad boys. Will wait for 11.11 to buy the PRX 👀 Thank you so much Tony for an excellent review as always
My curiosity makes me want to get a prx.....but I'm going to have to stop myself lol. I already have a pr2 black mesh that I never use, not to mention the more premium planars I love.
thanks a lot mr antonio teixeira, appreciate the works on the comparison between the budget planar iem, hopefully in upcoming, theres more budget planar that refine the price bracket

I have the S12 2024 so I don’t need this but it’s interesting… I’ve heard a lot of positives about the Luna as well and the TD20 … I like the S12 but I’d prefer a slightly cooler sound maybe
I may just buy a KZ PRX, sadly I have two of their IEMs, the ZVX and the Polaris, which were poorly manufactured. The ZVX had paint peeling, within the 1st 24 hours of use, and developed a stereo imbalance about 3 or 4 months after delivery - and is no longer usable. The Polaris was dead on arrival, and definitely the worst IEM I have ever heard, clearly something was wrong, highly distorted - I should have returned it. Also have an ARTTI T10 which has both a level imbalance in the stereo field, as well as a very noticeable difference in frequency response, between left and right. This is the final frontier for ChiFi products, reliability and consistency. It's a most unpleasant experience - when you buy cheap to save money, but if the product does not last, then that is money wasted, a gamble like a lottery ticket
@@CesarGonzalez-mx7su hi...the easiest is use some medium density foam on the nozzle bore. If that isn't enough you can then cover the foam with filters from 300 to 450 until you get the desired effect.
Excellent review and observations as always. Thanks for that great work. I follow many iem reviewers, but honestly I trust your opinion the most. I've chosen the Luna. Just a small recommendation- please leave the mic somewhere laying on the table. Its just annoying to hear your voice jumping around my head on every video 😅
the problem with KZ is that they are so cheaply made. Not to last, so they want you to buy new again and again. I mean my KZ pr3 died after 3day (one channel is weak). So I literally bought them and stored them after 3days. No KZ iems lasted more that one month in my case (when it was in the slightly more frequent use). I am careful with my stuff. Drop KZ iem on some hard desk from 1-2cm or click the shells against each other while packing and there is a high chance that you will damage the inside solders. Then congrats. no sound. PS: the most recent iem from them KZ zs12proX is already chipped out with DD distortion on the right side.
@@philipm.4738 You gotta be careful when you see claims like this. There are so many people with a grudge against KZ they talk bad about them but never even owned any or exaggerate any issues. Just to discourage others.
I've had no problem with KZ build, unlike other cheap IEMs, like Waner that broke taking the cable off. Did get a lemon D-FI, but out of the zillion KZ sets I have, it's the only lemon. They are so easy to mod and most really shine when you replace the filters!
Wow. It's been a while since there was so much content in a day. Impressive.
