    Thank you for such a detailed and well structured guide.
    I've been out of the dragon-chasing game for years. I've been there when the top headphones to get was just the K701, HD6(5)0 or the DT990. I've been there when Vision Ears was the top pick, when the Chi-fi legion started. Too much FOMO, I've settled on a Sony MDR-7550 due to my taste that time and called it quits. You never can fully quit really.
    The audio bug suddenly came back rearing its head idk 2 years ago and I was so lost. The choice is huge now. Good for the consumers, but that comes with choice fatigue and paralysis. I tried to quell the want with a Celest Gumiho based on my sound preference. It did kind of okay on the want part. Alas, the hunger grew and grew until this month and I have been consuming videos and reviews for weeks, realizing that 11.11 sale will be coming up.
    Your videos, I feel like, is the most helpful of all the videos I've been cramming my head with to start (again). And bonus, tomorrow I have a local audio show. I hope I can find Letshuoer and other short-listed IEMs amongst the exhibitors. And I sure hope the S08 is among them, because thanks to you, I've set my eyes on them.
    The balance of price, sound signature and accessories just brings up the value proposition so much, I feel like I'm willing to spend even MSRP for it. So looking forward to 11.11 sale on AliX.

    Omar, thank you very much for your video, thanks to your video I got the S08. I wanted to buy planar IEM's for a while, and this one seemed like the correct choice. I tested it with a few songs with the black and the white tips, and in my opinion the black tips sound a bit too "dark". The white ones give me the perfect balance, so I have been using them ever since. What a sweet sound.. I don't want to get all audiophile with the adjectives like in a 90's HiFi magazine, but these sound so sweet, but airy and detailed. I think the word is effortless. I am using them with a Fiio BTR13 with the balanced output. Now I am curious about a more "classical" planar, one of those heavier on the highs and detail... Maybe an S12 if I can get one for cheap, or wait for the next generation of more affordable ones....

    Oh thank gawd, finally, covering the Planar Haus of IEMs and done a buyer's guide on xD
    Love, love, love the content and grind 👏👏👏
    S12 2024(#540) is my personal baby stored in its hockey pock, inside a vacuum-sealed container, inside a n oak cabinet, in a low-humidity room lol. Mine luckily was with the supposed warmer, tamed treble tuning; only one that I could crank the volume up without shouting me to another dimension unlike EW200, PR1 Pro, or MagicOne without some EQ wizardry.
    But seems like Letshuoer is pretty much sunsetting S12 series and probably classic old planar-ness as a whole. S08 might be the start of a dawn of a new more palatable planar signature moving forward........well until before MEMS eventually takes over the IEM space entirely in the future.
    11.11 incoming and a sizable discount on S08 is what I'm looking out for, but damn it, I hope it comes much sooner cuz a $55 EA500LM deal is staring me in the face at the moment and I'm not sure if I can hold out any longer 😅🙃
    Now if we could maybe get a brand focus and buyer's guide on the Art, Science, & Stainless Steel psychos in Simgot mainly with their EW, EA(and even EN) series plus the EM6L & SM4 hybrid brothers but that just screams a 1600 buck owie LOL

    • @AudioAmigoReviews
      @AudioAmigoReviews  15 дней назад

      I'm actually in the middle of writing my Aful P7 review.
      The sound on both of these is actually quite similar. The P7 is a bit more chill with a bit less bass, bit less treble, and slightly fuller mids. The S12 Pro comes off more V-shaped by comparison. More treble energy, more bass.
      I do think the P7 is an upgrade in general technicalities. It's a very coherent hybrid. But I don't know if it's enough of an upgrade to justify the cost if you've already got the S12 Pro. I'd save up more for something higher up the ladder.
      Now if you want to compare hybrid vs. Planar tonality and techs for yourself, I'd say go for it. The P7 is an awesome set.

    Yeah, I really want to be able to justify a s15 purchase, the s08 has quickly become a comfortable allrounder for me and the idea of a iem that has a similar but more refined sound appeals... but it is a hard sell even on discount.

    For $300 total max, what two IEM would you get for (a) fun, V, sparkly, mobility and (b) detailed studio flat for mix/monitor? Right now Truthear x crin Red/blue is my more fun (a) but without the sparkle, and massdrop plus is closer to (b) with some added bass
    Edit: would prefer no EQ be at least acceptable for each, though (a) is more likely to be used on the go with an EQ and (b) more likely to be as-is

    • @AudioAmigoReviews
      @AudioAmigoReviews  Месяц назад +1

      So, sparkly and V-shaped with mobility. I'd say grab either the EM6L or the Supermix 4. The SM4 is more V-shaped with less mid-bass and a slightly brighter tonality. The EM6L is warmer, with more mid-bass and fuller mids. Pick your flavor. The Truthear Nova is another option. Basically the SM4, but with out the metallic timbre in the high end, and slightly less v-shaped.
      For Neutral monitoring. If you want to get something sorta premium feeling, grab the Aful Magic One. It's extremely neutral and has a really nice feel and look to it. Outside of that, look at the Truthear Hexa, it's a Magic one, but a bit smaller and cheaper. Still sounds great.
      Shouldn't need EQ on these, they're both great out of the box.

    The S08 was my first big upgrade from budget iems and it sounded worse than all my budget IEMs. The soundstage feels claustrophobic, lacking depth, and the bass comes across as a bloated, muddy mess. Imo it tries too hard to sound like a dd. The foam is what kills the soundstage's depth. I haven't tried the rest of Letshuoer's products, but I’d say the mids and treble could be on par with them with the foam removed, and the soundstage is actually decent now. The bass is also clean and nicely textured(Planar bass is quite nice). Some tracks can be sibilant, but the ones that aren't sound fantastic. In the end I reached a compromise by cutting the foam and using just a small piece. It also responds very well to EQ. I’m honestly puzzled as to how people can like the stock S08 and why it’s recommended so much.

    • @AudioAmigoReviews

      Everybody’s ears and brains process sound differently. There are some sets that get a lot of love that I also just don’t vibe with.
      Nothing wrong with that. Your experience is just as valid as mine. I’ve seen other people talk about it improving a lot with the foam removed or modded. But I’ve also seen a ton of people say that it’s perfect just the way it is.
      Thanks for your comment! It will help people who come to the video for recommendations. Unless you demo a set for yourself, the only way to get an idea of how something sounds is watching reviews like mine and reading comments like yours. Thanks. :)

      @@AudioAmigoReviews Yeah, pretty much. Unfortunately, testing products isn't really a thing in my country, and there aren’t any audio stores here. So, I have to buy based on reviews, and if I don’t like it I’m stuck with it, which is money wasted. Finding the next set to buy is going to be so hard now since I'm used to that detailed planar mids/high now.
      I might get another IEM for the 11.11 sale, and I'm considering the EW300 or do I just save up for something like the Supermix 4?

      @@AudioAmigoReviews Looking forward to that video :D
      Out of the three budget IEMs I own, I’d rank them as the CCA Trio (basically a better Castor), KZ Castor Bass, and Chu 2. However, after daily driving the modded S08, I’m not a fan of recessed mids, which all of the budget iems have (though the Chu 2 sounds a bit more balanced to me). They’re still enjoyable, but I always notice that lack of mids now, so I don’t really use them anymore and stick to the S08. The Trio and Castor are supposed to have a lot of bass, but I still find them lacking somewhat. I guess I am more of a rumble enjoyer rather than mid bass. I actually prefer the S08 with a boost in the low freq.

    Great review as usual but I think our preferences are opposite. I tried the S08 at CanJam and disliked it, and I don't use the word dislike lightly. It's too dark for my ears, female vocal is terrible compared to the likes of Simgot EM6L or Moondrop Starfield 2, though I don't have problem with bright IEMs while many people do. The S12 2024 was fine, Letshuoer did a great job making its bass sound like DD bass, but when I tested it there was a weird airy feeling across the frequencies, it wasn't a fit problem but maybe some tip rolling would have solved that, although imo it's not worth $200 regardless.
