The younger optoms are so lucky to be able to see such conditions on a video like this! Back in the early 80’s when I qualified I never saw this and it took a long time to learn....thank you, excellent tutorial.

I’m experiencing PVD as we speak and this video is helpful to understand certain terminologies you will hear the docs use. You must do your research in order to ask the best questions regarding your health.

Pretty technical. Now I have to research syneresis and see what the heck THAT is. Thanks. Good stuff.

That’s what it’s called when the vitreous begins to liquify

Hi Dr. thank you for your video in explaining PVD. I had some floaters a week ago in one eye and been diagnosed with "Partial" PVD in both eyes using a OCT Scan. I need advice on care of "Partial" vs normal PVD. I would like to know if I can I still do Running, Swimming, Push ups, using Gym weight machines, Punching a punch bag..etc? Anything to avoid and for how long if "Partial" PVD? Thanks

What does a PVD look like for a patient

Bloody awful! Loads of clumpy/stringy floating bits and pieces which you can't get out of your sight. Trust me, I've suffered vitreopathy for years. It's a curse with no relief on the horizon.

So in a PVD you would see literally your vitreous moving all over the place in a huge shape?

I saw a new eye doctor. He did not communicate very and so i didnt know what he was going to do or doing. He laid me bqck in the chair and had a bright light he used to look in my eyes. He pressed very hard on all sides my left eye then on my right eye. It hurt bad enough my reflex was to pull away from him. He told me if i was going ro pull away like a child we'd be there all day. And i said im sorry that was my reflex because it hurt and my right eye is very sensitive. Then he continue pressing as if it were gouging my eye out. He said i had vitreous pulling away but not any tears. See him in 10 months. 😣 frankly i was shocked about his treatment and has been so disturbed by it all day. Then before i went to bed I washed my face and realized both eyes are swollen and my veins underneath were darkend and the tissue at the corners and under both eyes were red. Today my eyes are so sore and I still have swollen eyes. I feel like that doctor did more than look st my eyes. It felt like medieval treatment. Emotionall I am still upset over being hurt like this. Because I cannot see where a doctor has to gouge so hard it bruises and hurts my eyes to see whats going on in my eyes. And also, he came highly reccomended to me. And did research on him after I saw my eyes. His reputation is aweful on patient treatment. But really want to know the proper way a doctor would probe the eyes to get the answer thats needed for a diagnosis. Yes they dilated my eyes. I dont even know if I can trust the what he said. Because he told me it was from just aging. Im 67. Thank you
