I also have some tips to add in case you guys care; Soap is by far in my opinion, the best currency in the game, it's easy to find and it can acts as 10 value. So say, instead of saying 1 gas which is 30, sell 3 soap that is 30. Taking the RV with you means you don't have to bring a rucksack, since it is 50+ storage. You can find parts for the RV in Scrapyards, wait a day or two then head to as many as possible. Lights, even though I use them for video use, can actually make your generator burn more fuel. Pressing Subdue isn't always enough; you need your character having a weapon with a Str requirement under or at it's level. The horse is better; although the cat looks nice; the speed and saddle are way better. Rebar is nice, and as far as I know, better so this one might but false.. BUT in my own personal opinion; I use an axe or a shotgun butt, the melee accuracy is better = more likely too hit. Please enjoy if this was helpfull.

I played this game and died at day 20-30 and ran it many times over kept on dying, and really wanted to try the horse but feared the use of eating 3 times a day. Thanks to your video I think I will be able to survive more than 50 days! Very Helpful thanks!
Quick tip for early expeditions, no matter the difficulty, GRAB THE MOST EXPENSIVE ITEMS THAT TURN UP, drop any cheaper items in a building for when you return. Trading within the shelter is a much more abundant source of crafting materials when you have expensive items, where crafting materials outside of the shelter are much more limited. Also, once you have recruits, send them out for the most dangerous missions, there's a reason why the family members are colour coded. And last but not least, always prepare to move bases with the Extended Family quest, especially if any family members die.
I've studied the game by myself and came up with my own strategies, this video shown every one of it. they were all accurate! just to add dogs were op in expeditions, he basically kill almost everyone. if you're looking for stat increase don't bring him along but in far and crowded places with tons of encounters, it is very recommended.
I realise this guide is 4 years old but what the hey! I just using it now and boy, did I need it. Usually have to watch 3 or 4 guides to get the jist but this one was excellent. Straight to the point and easy to understand. Very well done buddy.

I’m on day 760 on my shelter, and about 120 days in or so, you get a quest called extended family where you can move to a different map with all your family members* the family members in that new shelter. I’m on my 6th or 7th shelter at the moment and it has not gotten boring for me

I did not have the resources. My first pet was the fish, so in a single day I had no water and barely any food. Some woman came up to the door and is like "hey can I join?" I was like sure. So we all made friends and died together ^^
the cat is a great pet for beginners new to the game, as they have to learn resource management. then upgrade to the dog, which requires daily feeding, but is a really good companion for fights especially early game. i will eventually switch to the horse, i just hate exploiting the game mechanics by the fact that it doesnt require any food while travelling but consumes 3 if it is in the shed i mean how lol.
I wouldn’t call this an ‘exploit' per-say. A horse when closed in a stall, does not have access to grass, so you need to feed him. When traveling, you’d come across lots of editable grass, leaves, fruit, water, etc, that a horse would eat. An exploit would be …. more like the subdue action. I doubt someone could ‘subdue’ a bear with one whack of a pipe, or that rebar would be a better weapon than a gun, in a fight.

I was treating this game like fallout and using perception like a dump stat, I didn't read what the stats did at the beginning and I kept getting wrecked because of it. It's like the most important stat in this game.
I always accept any recruit and then when they get to my base they can repair the water and air filter and then f.o. because then I get the stat boost of recruiting them, without having to feed them
Maybe they changed the rules since I played. When I played, the recurit would hang out at your back for like a month, freeloading. You can not control them. So if you kick them out, you are wasting time and resources.

I heard that the ppl with courageous traits can almost get a guaranteed subdue, I even tried it out and its actually true, also if u can give me some tips about the lucky lucky bat that would be great, it says that you can succed in virtually everything, idk what that means but whenever I try subdue with it it doesnt work
I didnt see that choice in my game. could be new. Broadcast will get people to show up at your home. accept transmission will do a trade over the phone.
This was really helpful, but I think they fixed the Subdue action working 99% of the time, because I just tried it in my first fight and I lost my only fighter on like day 7 to an unarmed person who just kept resisting and blocking. Does it only work if you have that specific weapon? Or is it supposed to work with anything?
things have changed a bit since i made this video. So... if you find anything they fixed, expect it to be an update they made, not an error on my part. :P I've used the rifle to subdue, so it's not just the rebar. Rebar is the highest damage weapon when i made this.
i have a major leaque issue on water supply, starting off i get another tier 2 water butt up and running but i still end up with no water, any tips on effectively managing water supply?
Always wait until a stat is red, before doing something about it, unless it is like puke on the floor. Showers and toilet use water. don't just keep sending people to shower if they are yellow. Don't buy stuff you don't need in the trades, or use up all your water in the trade.
Horse was too much upkeep for me personally, M16 is kind of cool to hoard although I don't remember how I fought the groups of 4 soldiers I might have just used bombs and nothing else.
just keep the horse busy. As long as it is sitting in your stable, it costs. When on trips, it's free, and has lots of bonuses for carrying stuff, and distance traveled.
7:54 thats propably cheated. Its also mot possible to pplay longer because they propably put the days into am int variable and not an Int64. The max value an int can store is exactly 2'147'483'647
How to cure Suffocating? I have nothing broking in my shelter for what I can tell it is not broken this happened randomly around day 100 Water And Filtration is fix but people is still Suffocating to death
Not sure. I haven't played in a long time. They may have changed something. When I played, you only needed to keep the vents outside fixed. people break them, or they would just break from use. that is the only reason I can think for suffocating. Even with no air, a person with a hazmat suit should survive.
I got some problems. I've been playing for 2 year now and I got problems with wool, every single run I have the only thing that is super hard to find is wool so please help I die often because I can't build a fricking bed and wool stuff.

That is because the angry group member is not an invader. The guns only kill invaders, not angry shelter members. I have people I turn away, crap in my water filter, or break my air filter, before leaving. What I do with new entries, is just keep them busy. All they do is sleep, eat, drink, study, workout, and sometimes fix things, until they are fully controlled by me, then I send them out on missions instead of a family member. Never take in a new person until you can pamper them. Around day 50 or so.
They use mods, the character have infinite health and got many resources early in game, and they basically just speed up the time with other mods I guess
It shows up more often if you have a larger map, and it's shown up in about 60% of the games I've played. It may be more, but I didn't find it in those other games. The gun is lame. You can do just as well with any other gun in the game.

The reason for waiting is that you will then be able to support 5 people. The 5th (the guest) is a freeloader for like 40 days. They choose to do what they want. You need to check their stats. Good and bad. They could be someone who hates kids, or like a clean room, etc. If the place is not to their liking, they will slowly get mad. They will normally break a bunch of stuff before leaving. Not having a bed for them, no food, etc. is a shore way to get the angry.
I never do. They will eat too much, and sleep too much. They tend to do things when the stat is only at 80%. You can wait unit stats are red with manual.
This game is so amazing but what it doesn't make sense is how you would get a animal resources by only subduing them, and trade with a same item is the most funnier lmao.

Guys if you take the horse ride into a big town not single targets then you will usually get 1-10 food

GEORGIA BALL starve your characters feed the starving when they are red till you get your shelter going
build traps and a freezer, when a trap has one use left have someone with resourceful trait dismantle it and rebuild it to get back the charges
Sacrifice 1 - 2 kids, get the pet horse and dont feed it after its dead harvest it and now you can go survive more that 10+ days.

Only you can figure that. I have never had that happen. All raiders get killed off on the top floor for me. My auto guns rock.

The 2 billion days guy used cheat engine, and since cheat engine is 32bit the maximum value he could enter was 2.147 billion

Collect "Burnt Cloth" and rrcycle it on the recycler it will give some wool and nylon

I never do. They will eat too much, and sleep too much. They tend to do things when the stat is only at 80%. You can wait unit stats are red with manual.
