Good trade at the time for both teams. But Flames made a huge mistake paying Huberdeau 10.5m for eight years starting at age 30. Weager's contract may not age well either 6.25m, eight years starting at age 29. Imagine in the Flames had gone into this summer with 16.75m in cap instead of those two players. Doesn't really matter what Tkachuk did with the Panthers, Tkachuk was leaving the Flames as UFA in summer of 2023.
@@allhockeyyt For Huberdeau's sake and the Flames sake (though I'm not a Flames fan). I hope you're right. Personally I can't see it, and I don't like the term on the aging Kadri's contract either. Somehow the Leafs must've thought it was fine as hired Trevling as GM....replacing the the inept (IMO) Dubas
You won't really know who won until we see who that 1st rounder in 2025 turns out to be.
Florida will likely be competitive at that point, so it won’t be a very high pick.
@@allhockeyyt For sure, you're looking at high 20's, at least.

That Huberdeau contract is looking rough right now, but I could definitely see him bouncing back.

@@keithball6480 I'm not saying he's about to get 115 points again, but it's fair to expect him to get back to at least a point per game.
