Honestly, I like its vibe. New leaves can grow upwards while the old ones stay low like that, and it can create this really cool "wall of leaves" look!
Hi Kaylee!! I look forward to your videos every week! This was an awesome video. Please don’t ever feel the need to apologize to the audience for doing what you gotta do with your own plant ♥️
wow, you had a workout with him but I have seen (and done) worse rootpruning. Such a nice plant, I hope mine will get to be as beutifull as yours. It's not in an elho insert pot but a transparent pot so I can keep an eye on the roots.
I had to repot a root bound plant and I struggled!!! I can completely relate. I had to snap some roots, then I started to trim off some more because I felt horrible for breaking them. My plant bounced back quicker than I thought it would and I am so glad I did it…it had to be done. I really don’t know how my plant survived, it was drying out so fast!
I have done this before with a plant, cut a lot of roots off at the time, then repotted, plant came back beautifully!! What you are doing is fine!! You will see!
I have quite a large crystallinum that hung down like that. I actually staked them up slowly and added the light right above it. It didn’t take too long, but now they aren’t hanging anymore and don’t need to be staked. It can happen without damaging the plant. Just requires some patience. 😊
I put an acrylic stake in all my anthurium pots and as new leafs emerge they get attached to the stake. That way all my leaves are upright. It keeps them from sprawling all over and saves room on my shelves.
Kaylee! I feel like you get throat/lung-related-sick a couple times a year… You should map out what products you work with relative to getting sick going forward because I realized that every time I use perlite… Even just a TINY bit… My throat/nose/lungs are messed up for a few days (sometimes a whole week or more!) after… it takes 1-2 days to react. I have to be EXTRA careful and wear a mask and wet everything down because the second I breathe a little in… seriously, even the tiniest bit, my body does not appreciate it! I bet you’re having an adverse reaction to some dusty substance in the plant substrate! I’m next to NYC and the Canadian fires last summer messed up my throat/nose/lungs for 2+ weeks! Mainly because I woke up in the middle of the night and opened my window forgetting about the air warning 😖
I know you kept saying everyone’s gonna be upset but I find this weirdly satisfying 😂 it’s gonna be happy in the long run since it can fit in the pot again!
Would just like to say (maybe its my broken sense of humour) BEST BLODY INTRO TO A PLANT VIDEO IVE EVER SEEN!!!!! I have no idea why but it made me giggle do much cuz I feel like we have all looked at a plant and thought this exact thought. Made my day lol.
My crystal on a shelf did the splits on me too, which I only cared about when I moved. I've slowly wedged up the petioles with pot extenders, I've added moss and an extender every other week and the plant is halfway there... It's slow going and mine wasn't as bad as this one!
If it makes you feel any better Kaylee, while I have this video playing I the background, I was making moss poles out of chicken wire mesh and my hands were getting murdered trying to bend inwards all the sharp bits. I can feel you plants pains it’s like a 4D movie experience.
This is honestly how I repot my plants as well. Every time I wait till the last possible minute to repot them, cause life just catches up to you, y'know? And mine are ALWAYS so root bound that I have to break my vessels (mine are glass, so it's a bit less of a struggle). I do much more extensive root trimming that you did. I always tell myself, it's a plant, it's gonna live. It will be ok, if it isn't, then it just isn't meant to be living with me 🤣
This was fantastic! 😂 Next repot, keep a bucket of water by you to hydrate the substrate and help you loosen the root ball!! It’s so much easier to untangle and work with roots!
I felt so bad for you during this repot girl 😅but whoa you did great and at the end of the day you give all your plants the best living environment and they do have the will to live, a plants sole existence is to live right, thanks so very much for sharing this experience as I may have to do that myself one day, praying that I don’t, love, Ginger
0:33 hopefully you get well soon Kaylee :-). I’m currently watching this with Covid and I don’t even want to repot crap.. need too though but they can probably wait until next week And yeah, they don’t move as well as Monstera and all that 😢.
I have a massive crystallinum plant! She just does her own thing and grows however she pleases. Last time I had to repot her, she had actually smashed the bottom of the pot - these plants are so incredibly strong! 😂
I use a icing knife. Like the long knives that bakers use that are very flexible to get the pots and roots separated.. they're great because they're flexible enough to actually get down into the bottom of the pot as well if you need to. I have never iced a cake in my life and have several of those in all sizes..😅.. I will never go through that again because it is totally and completely gut-wrenching. I feel for you..
I know an easier way. Water the plant first, slide a knife between the pot and the roots, sit plant on it's side, sit on the floor and put your feet on the rim of the pot and pull the plant out.
Maaaaaate I feel your pain! I just had the same terrifying fight with my huge 20yo jade plant this week. I surrendered before she did, I was too scared to keep pulling! She can stay in there a bit longer, it's a (lovely 😢) big ceramic pot so if it gets desperate I'll smash the pot rather than rag her roots apart I think. Hope both you and the rooty boi both heal up soon.
That was a lot of root loss, but to be honest, I'm actually *wayyy* worse to my plants when it comes to massacreing my plants. I find myself doing this quite frequently, because I'm an heavy fertiliser-er, which means that I always end up with enough nutrition in the plant pot to last way longer than it needs too. Plus, because I have my plants in incredibly bright spots ontop of it, I always end up with a crap ton of root growth that sticks to the side of pots, *especially* now that I'm using both your fertiliser and liqui-dirt. Like, honestly. I recently checked on the root growth of my curly jade, and that one had stuck to the pot, even though I potted it up 6 months ago, into a pot that was 3x the size of the previous pot. But yeah
little tip, if you firmly grasp the stem of the fella and then with the other hand smack the lip of the pot a couple of times in different places along the rim it usually comes out or at least gets loosend
I squeeze the sides of the pot a bunch of times to loosen the plant and wet the medium. Idk if that would help because it’s hard plastic or if it’s squeezable.
Thanku 4your vids...beautiful plant. In Las Vegas, NV...USA...&challenging with plants here. Environmental issues. So keep plants in bathroom upstairs 😊
Oh I do hope you're feeling better! Your plants may not survive your illness! 😅 He'll be fine. I like his vibe for a top shelf plant. You've got a trailing Anthurium! That's kinda groovy 💚
That was a rough repot. I keep an old serated bread knife for this exact purpose. Just go around the inside of the pot & help release the root ball & the plant come out a little easier.
Looks like you potted it in hay! My Crystallinum is doing the splits on me looking like the same thing! It's so annoying so this is perfect timing. BTW, It's so hard to watch you sit with your legs out. It's called W sitting and it's typically seen in kids - but it's going to cause hip and knee problems!
Hey I'd remove all but the top two leaves as the root mass won't be able to support all those big beautiful leaves 😢 it breaks my heart saying that but I would put money on this being better for it. And I'd probably wager a quid or two on those top two raising up quite a bit afterwards as well. Hope this helps. Steph xx
The pant had to wait years for repot, it wouldn't hurt to wait couple of days/weeks for bigger pot. The repot done literally nothing to the plant other than getting rid of half of the roots. Good luck with keeping it alive
Help I can't just sit here and watch this. Please get your self a cake frosting spatula a few sizes. That way you can make a round the pot and the roots to separate. If you can't lay the pot on its side on the ground and then punching it. I just punched seven berry bushes to put in the ground today. Feeling the shoulder pain after working with the shovel and plants that want my blood. God I should of used a leather glove coat with a face shield.
This year in the US we've seen a lot of adult RSV and Flu.... its been pretty rough. Hopefully, you feel better soon! Dont worry about the assault on the plant roots! 😂 Sometimes it just has to be done
Honestly when my plants have leaves like this i start cutting back. I cut one or two older leaves to kinda motivate it to push out new leaves. I just wait. Its the worst 😂
Honestly, I am not clear on the problem. With the leaves hanging down like that it looks really cool and would look awesome on a shelf. Why not let it continue that growth habit?
Honestly, I like its vibe. New leaves can grow upwards while the old ones stay low like that, and it can create this really cool "wall of leaves" look!
I feel the same way
I absolutely love these chaos re-potting videos. I'm so sorry you are ill, but honestly, the videos are just good FUN!!!
These chaotic repots are SO RELATABLE lol
Hi Kaylee!! I look forward to your videos every week! This was an awesome video. Please don’t ever feel the need to apologize to the audience for doing what you gotta do with your own plant ♥️

I love wearing my Long Bois shirt while working with my own long bois. I train mine up by attaching them to bamboo poles with garden velcro. 💚
I have quite a large crystallinum that hung down like that. I actually staked them up slowly and added the light right above it. It didn’t take too long, but now they aren’t hanging anymore and don’t need to be staked. It can happen without damaging the plant. Just requires some patience. 😊

What did we do to deserve all these new videos 😭 thank you for all the content Kaylee!!
I know you kept saying everyone’s gonna be upset but I find this weirdly satisfying 😂 it’s gonna be happy in the long run since it can fit in the pot again!
Would just like to say (maybe its my broken sense of humour)
BEST BLODY INTRO TO A PLANT VIDEO IVE EVER SEEN!!!!!
I have no idea why but it made me giggle do much cuz I feel like we have all looked at a plant and thought this exact thought. Made my day lol.
You’re a champ just for repotting and giving us videos even when you’re not feeling good😩💗
My crystal on a shelf did the splits on me too, which I only cared about when I moved. I've slowly wedged up the petioles with pot extenders, I've added moss and an extender every other week and the plant is halfway there... It's slow going and mine wasn't as bad as this one!

When I am sick I don’t speak to or look at anyone. ❤❤❤ you’re amazing
This is honestly how I repot my plants as well. Every time I wait till the last possible minute to repot them, cause life just catches up to you, y'know? Put a grow light on top of the plant so she can straight looking up 😊😊 i did it w mine and now her leaves are looking up to the light😊
It takes much longer than my monstera but they do eventually move
The leaves of the plant and the longbois t-shirt made for some really beautiful shots.
When removing a super snug plant from a vessel, I flood it with water, let sit for five minutes then it comes out easy peasy.
And it's so much easier on the roots if they aren't dry.
Ok HOLY SH*T!! Thats friggen huge! I am glad the crystal has been freed 😂 Hope you feel better and I enjoyed all the repots 👌
This was fantastic! 😂 Next repot, keep a bucket of water by you to hydrate the substrate and help you loosen the root ball!! It’s so much easier to untangle and work with roots!
OMG. I love how it looks Kylee. Just trust the process.
That’s about to be one unhappy anthurium 😅 Hopefully it doesn’t tantrum too badly and recovers soon!
0:33 hopefully you get well soon Kaylee :-). I’m currently watching this with Covid and I don’t even want to repot crap.. need too though but they can probably wait until next week
And yeah, they don’t move as well as Monstera and all that 😢.
He would look good on the top shelf with the leaves coming down
Love it, plants are tougher than we think sometimes. Hope you feel better soon!
I have a massive crystallinum plant! She just does her own thing and grows however she pleases. Last time I had to repot her, she had actually smashed the bottom of the pot - these plants are so incredibly strong! 😂
The way you sit always freaks me out! lol you’re just like those little kids that are so flexible! Love the repot! I love these types of videos!
I would think that soaking it first would help to remove the substrate with less breakage since it would make the roots malleable, no?
I use a icing knife. Like the long knives that bakers use that are very flexible to get the pots and roots separated.. they're great because they're flexible enough to actually get down into the bottom of the pot as well if you need to. Perhaps an old bread and butter knife to slide between the pot and the root ball? I have one and it really helps to loosen the roots from the pot.
I use the same thing. I can't imagine trying to get that out without getting the roots loose from the sides of the pot.
I'm sorry to hear you've been ill, but I must say you're smashing it! Thank you for this extra content, absolutely loving it!
Sorry to hear you are still sick. Please feel free to take a break. You deserve it.
little tip, if you firmly grasp the stem of the fella and then with the other hand smack the lip of the pot a couple of times in different places along the rim it usually comes out or at least gets loosend
If the steams are strong enough bonsai wire might be able to hold it at slight stress to force the stems to straighten
I squeeze the sides of the pot a bunch of times to loosen the plant and wet the medium. Idk if that would help because it’s hard plastic or if it’s squeezable.
It's still a lovely plant! Could you maye make a dedicated video about buttcuts/ mid cuts and how they will grow etc.?
I'm using a butter knife here so slide aaway the roots well I damage some sure but its out they can regrow
No bigger pots but a really big orange bucket. Just put holes in the bottom of the bucket and call it done😊.
Thanku 4your vids...beautiful plant. In Las Vegas, NV...USA...&challenging with plants here. Environmental issues. So keep plants in bathroom upstairs 😊
I use a dull butter knife and free the roots around the outside when tight like this
Kaylee: Slap It Slap It Slap It! 😂 Oof though 😮💨🫣 that was painfully satisfying to watch!
Love these chaos re-potting videos too !!
That is a beautiful plant regardless!
I am loving the extra content
Oh I do hope you're feeling better! Your plants may not survive your illness! 😅 He'll be fine. I like his vibe for a top shelf plant. You've got a trailing Anthurium! That's kinda groovy 💚

Dont feel bad. I always over water my plants. I wish I can experience root bound plants.
I do love these videos even tho you be going thru it lol I love to know I am not weird I did four last night I was having moments the whole time!
Happy to know I’m not alone feeling guilty for breaking roots 😂
Gah! A butter knife! You need a butter knife to run along the sides of the pot!!!
Pure and absolute carnage don't feel as guilty now when I've done similar 😂
What’s the rationale for not wetting or soaking the roots to facilitate unpotting and repotting?
I literally just bought those Ikea shelves.... for my plants. I feel seen.
Are the elho planters flexible enough to squeeze the sides to help loosen the root ball?
Oh I was holding my breath as u were trying to get it out of the pot. X
Watching this repot was reminiscent of watching Steve Irwin wrestling a ‘gator back in the day
That’s happened to me!!!! The entire top snapped off 😢
Hey I'd remove all but the top two leaves as the root mass won't be able to support all those big beautiful leaves 😢 it breaks my heart saying that but I would put money on this being better for it. And I'd probably wager a quid or two on those top two raising up quite a bit afterwards as well. Hope this helps. Steph xx
I had to report a very old Chinese evergreen. One third of it in middle was dead, and the rest ugh. It was in a very sad state.
WELL DONE!!!! you did it! I would have butchered it 😆
What did you use for your soil? Enjoyed your video - plants can be chaotic ;-)
Why would you repot but not size up the pot??
She just said she didn’t have a bigger pot & there’s a weight issue. We do what we have to do in life.
The pant had to wait years for repot, it wouldn't hurt to wait couple of days/weeks for bigger pot. The repot done literally nothing to the plant other than getting rid of half of the roots. Good luck with keeping it alive
When will your feed be fit for delivery to Ireland 😁 neeeeed 😍
Dont appologize!! Shit happens!
Put the pot on its side and roll it out! The root ball should just slide out. Dunk the roots and massage to loosen it up
Help I can't just sit here and watch this. Please get your self a cake frosting spatula a few sizes. That way you can make a round the pot and the roots to separate. If you can't lay the pot on its side on the ground and then punching it. I just punched seven berry bushes to put in the ground today. Exactly my thoughts!
This year in the US we've seen a lot of adult RSV and Flu.... its been pretty rough. Hopefully, you feel better soon! Dont worry about the assault on the plant roots! 😂 Sometimes it just has to be done
Plant abuse, absolutely horrific, but I cannot stop watching 😂 that’s entertainment.
Your doin great 👍
Ugh watching this video was making me sweat more than the workout I did during it 😂😢
Honestly when my plants have leaves like this i start cutting back. I cut one or two older leaves to kinda motivate it to push out new leaves. I just wait. Its the worst 😂
Lmao 😂 loved this fucking vid..
I cringe when i rip apart ròots like that on my potbound plants
Honestly, I am not clear on the problem. With the leaves hanging down like that it looks really cool and would look awesome on a shelf. Why not let it continue that growth habit?
Call the Plant Services Invesigation Dept. Kaylee you are charged 20 yrs to life.😄😄
That dangling bit of roots, ffs cut it!!! :D

Sorry you are still I’ll 🤧 I’m sure the plant will bounce back 😀🇨🇦
I am Yelling! Cut the pot off! Cut the pot off.!
With a glass of wine😂
@@mrjasonjnealshe said you can’t cut those pots, too thick of plastic

Ok I can't watch this. Tell me when it's over.
And why oh why did you plant it back in the same pot??!!
Hi Kaylee! When can we expect delivery to Hungary? I need your feed so bad!
