  • These super-easy, super-delicious soft pretzels are perfect for kids to make because they don't require boiling or a lot of resting time, but they do require just enough kneading to make it fun :)
    Recipe:
    Cinnamon Sugar Soft Pretzels
(Adapted from Alphabet Pretzel Sticks, Kid Chef Junior cookbook):
    Pretzels:
1 package active dry yeast or instant yeast
1 1/2 cups water, lukewarm (approx. 110 degrees)
1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon butter, melted and cooled
    1 tablespoon sugar
    1 teaspoon salt
    4 cups all-purpose flour
    Cinnamon Sugar:
    1/2 cup sugar
    1 tablespoon cinnamon
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. Add the yeast to a bowl of warm water, whisk and let sit for 1 minute. Add the butter, sugar and salt to the yeast mixture. Mix well. Add the 4 cups of flour, 1 cup at a time, musing in between, until the dough is no longer sticky and all the flour is mixed in.
On a clean, floured surface, knead the dough with your hands for 5 minutes. Shape it into a ball. Cover with a clean towel and let it rest for 10 minutes. Then separate the dough into 10-12 small balls.
Roll each ball back and forth with the palm of your hand into a long rope. Then form each rope into any letter or shape that you like.
Bake for 12-15 minutes, until golden brown on top.
Whisk together the sugar and cinnamon until combined. Coat each pretzel with butter, then dip into the cinnamon sugar mixture.
    Enjoy!
