Working for the city I can tell you that leadership is great and there is a real effort to have independence compete with other cities finally. It’s a great city to work for.

A good friend of mine moved to Independence a few years ago and says the same thing! Definitely not the same city as it was when I was growing up. Thanks for watching!

The biggest pro for Independence is that there is a favtrip with a 24/7 drive thru :)

East Independence has a completely separate school district (fort osage). Much better than its more populous counterpart, in my opinion.

My aunt has lived there almost her whole life. It’s nice. Someone stole a sword from
    Truman’s house a few months ago 😩

Wow bro. You get it. You explain really well the plight of the “other suburb”. We the suburbs like lees summit and Overland Park getting so much attention, there go the dollars, investment, big box stores, roads and the schools
Improve because you have well off families invested in their kids future, that move there.
So independence gets less corporate development which fuels less people moving there which fuels less corporate development. It’s no wonder we have so many “has been” cities in America. Growth and enthusiasm up and went. While those that invested in homes early and don’t have the means or desire to leave, stay put where they are. Reminiscing about the good ole days.
