Curse you Karl Franz! Cowardly attacking from behind! I would never take advantage of an enemy like that!

Ther reason why those cav units could push through the zombies so easily is that the 'mass' stat of the zombies is likely very low. Plus, they don't have spears, so countering cav is nearly impossible for them. Also, not having pointy sticks means they can't brace, so their formation will be torn apart quickly. Try pushing any cavalry through a braced halberdiers unit and you will see the cavalry get stuck and melt faster than you can say retreat!
And by the way, those mechanics were put in place by one of the very last patches for Warhammer 2. They have been iterated further in 3, but it's no wonder you were not aware of the existance of mass.

I think the game could've done without that patch then! 😁 Funnily enough I've experienced a similar thing in my Divide and Conquer campaign, where high level cavalry can pull through other units, though I think the technical explanation for why they can do that would probably be very different.

@@StrategyWithLordCalvariam Not that different of an explanation, I believe. The reason cav in Rome 1 and Medieval 2 could just push any unit around was because they had a lot af mass, and nothing else had enough to stop them. Not even spears. Pikes could kill them from the front, but they would do that to anything. Im my mind, the mass changes in 3 are very good because they give a renewed purpose for spear units and stop cavalry from being so blatantly overpowered as they were in pretty much all previous titles. If you were using skeleton spearmen instead of those zombies, chances are the Outriders would have taken a lot more casualities. Even if they eventually won, because skeletons are shit.
