Bobby - He does, though it's REALLY hard to get the same sound without a Compressor in front of the Mutron, FWIW. A decent single pedal solution, I've found is the Boss Touch Wash series, also the Ibanez Auto-Wah pedal, among the many Auto-Wahs/Envelope Filters I've owned or tried out.
Hey man! I really appreciate your lesson!!! I have a guestion though.. What if I want to play the whole song in open g tune (the riff and the rest of the song)? And the A string is D? How do I convert the notes I have to press? Thanks in advance I would really appreciate your help!!!
I hate to say it, but if you want good tone for this song, you really have to not play a guitar with a Floyd Rose because it takes all the low end out of the sound, which is why I imagine you have to play the first lick way up the neck on the fat strings (instead of in the second position on the higher strings, as edie's guitar player does in the video). Even so the tone is almost unbearable, so freaking trebly. Even EVH called it "tinny." It kind of sounds like Marshall amp reverb too, also not really the best choice for this song -- maybe a Fender tube amp with a 12"? You need to pick the right guitar and amp before you even think about what effects to use...
thanks man, really niche song and a great solo!!
Incredible post! You are a great teacher. This is a pretty complex solo. You presented it well. Thanks for the post.
omg thank you man i will learn this with passion- me and my mother love this song
You are welcome and best of luck with it!
Could you do another video with the rest of the solo?
Thanks man. I believe he actually uses a MuTron envelope effect on that solo. The sound anyways... or some kind of envelope follower effect pedal.

Thanks so much. This is great.
@pitypoppy right on man and you got it -
You completely lost me between the second and third riffs, it would help if you added in tabs below when you're playing.
@toekick1 thanks brother
@toekick1 thanks man
completely confused at 2:05 you rush through too quickly, and it's ruined the entire riff for me.
