The Kolkata Suburban Railway is a suburban rail system serving the suburbs surrounding the city of Kolkata. It is the largest suburban Railway Network in India by track length and number of stations. It has More than 374 stations and a track length of Approximately 1,456 kms.
The Kolkata Suburban Railway system is operated by Indian Railways under two zonal divisions of Eastern Railways (ER) and South Eastern Railways (SER). SER operates the South Eastern Line and ER operates the Eastern Line, Circular Line, Chord link Line as well as the South lines.
Non Suburban EMU Lines:
Some of the routes are not connected to any other lines and bypassing through the Kolkata Suburban Railway Network, For that purpose, the EMU passenger runs on that routes for help in transportation of people to small towns and villages from Kolkata Metropolitan Area. There are two routes which bypass the Suburban Rail network and not connected to any other network, First route is from Tamluk to Digha which comes under the jurisdiction of South Eastern Railway with the length of 94 km and second route is from Krishnanagar City Junction to Lalgola which comes under the jurisdiction of Eastern Railway with the length of 128 km.

Now this is what I call a well made Route explaining video. You surely did a very hard work in making this 👍👍 Keep growing man.
Indian suburban railway let it be Mumbai, Kolkata or Chennai are class apart public transport networks. Aesthetically they may not be as elegant as Metros in India but they can handle good ammount of ridership.
Yeah..😍😍😘❤️💯 Finally countdown begins for Kolkata railway networks.I'm eagerly waiting for this and the fact that I daily go to college using this suburban network from Krishnanagar City jn. to Ranaghat also and desire for exploring the whole kolkata suburban network..thanksssssss for making this video...😍😁
Hats off to you man. Your effort for this video is really commendable. You did not miss a single station route of this network. Even i, being a resident of kolkata had forgotten about the biman bandar line but you made me recall😁😁.
Keep posting more
Day by day u r improving ur video quality and creativety which is best and keep it up.
Ek engineer kuch bhi kar sakta hai🤣🤣
Thank you for covering India's historic capital. Would like to tell you that there are a part of non suburban railway corridors you have not covered.
1. Andal to Sainthia main section
2. Bardhaman to Sainthia section via Main
3. Andal to Saintha chord section
4. Howrah to Azimganz chord section via Ahmadpur junction
They come under the jurisdiction of Eastern Railways. All the sections have MEMU trains running. Some important stations on the Andal to Sainthia Chord section are Andal, Dubrajpur, Ukhra, Chinpai and Suri Junction. This section has a few trains running, and the line is near to Bakreswar thermal power station, where my dad works. And the coal is shipped there via a branch from Chinpai.
A few trains running in this line are MEMU, rest all electric locomotive hauled.
Many trains that go to Suri or Azimganz use the route via Ahmadpur. The important stops on this track are Bolpur shantiniketan, Dankuni and Ahmadpur junction. The NJP Shatabdi Express, India's fastest diesel hauled shatabdi, pass by this line.
That was so good. Each and every routes were mentioned. Looking forward to the timelapses.😋
Absolutely amazing.
Thank you for the detail info.
Your passion, dedication, creativity, technical & organization skills are simply amazing. Keep it up, and please try for your channel to become the official one for Kolkata suburban network.
You Explained good , un logo ke liye jo kolkata suburban me ghumna cahte hai , Sealdah division is the main part of kolkata
And currently the busiest like Mumbai, apun ki roz halat kharab ho jata hai
Explain me about the circular line
@@manikdas2377 The circular line initiates after Dum Dum Junction , it bifurcates after 800 m on the way DDJ-BNXR , from DDJ , it cuts leftwards heading to the circular line , it is this line till Majherhat and then on , the Sealdah South division from Majherhat to Park Circus , after Park circus it bifurcates avoiding Sealdah , halting at Sir Gurudas Banerjee Halt - BidhanNagar Road and finally Dum Dum Junction again . Since , this railpath starts from same place and terminates at same place again , this is called Circular railway .
❤ Love from Barrackpore area situated in Sealdah - krishnanagar main line...
Nice to hear from you. You'll surely love all the Timelapse videos of Sealdah North Mainline. 😊
Bro can you tell how to reach Barrackpore from howrah
I know how to go from Howrah to Barrackpore. first go to Bandel junction and board the train Bandel Naihati local. after reaching Naihati train that go to Sealdah keep in mind Barrackpore will come after palta station.
& We, the people of North Bengal, eagerly waiting for the siliguri suburban railway network that will connect the every important part of North Bengal by the siliguri suburban route , like Kolkata suburban route in South Bengal
Extremely nice explanation of a complex issue. Your voice is also clear and loud. My regards for all your hard work.
Your English is soooo beautiful. you are a good explorer
Wow, explained a very complex system so simply and beautifully ! Keep exploring.
You are great Explorer.
Nice explanation bro...Good work...Keep it up
You grabbed a like from me! What's to say more, this is such a detailed and extensive work!
Lots of love😍❤from Jadabpur, Kolkata on Sealdah - Diamond Harbour Main Line.
The best part was the Sealdah - Howrah Division Link Line..
Yes the Rajchandrapur-Santragachi link .
He once in his video said that the Masagram-Bankura was the least explored , I guess the Rajchandrapur-SRC is the least explored .
Very well explained, some districts of Wb have best railway network are nadia, burdwan, hooghly, howrah, N&S 24 pargana due to Eastern railway serve these districts.
And most neglected districts are bankura, purulia, both medinapur and the reason behind this is South Eastern railway this railway zone is the most backward zone.
You missed one route in the timelapse list (Sealdah- Katwa suburban EMU service). Please add that. And thanks for the wonderful explanation.
Sealdah Katwa is Single service and cannot be considered as a different corridor. Even if we don't count Sealdah Katwa, still Entire Kolkata Suburban Network Completes. And thanks a lot for your appreciation 🙏 😎
This was one amazing explanation.. Waiting for the time lapses..
Please post VLOGs and timelapses in the last week of March so that I can watch them after my exams.....
Sure. 😎
@@SaurabhRautIR Thanks
Urs presentation is wonderful, but one mistake is that Bandel to Naihati route is not under the sealdah division, from Bandel to Garifa upto Naihati link cebin it is under Howrah Division.
Great effort, man.
...from a kolkata person who likes to 'train' around too. :)
Thanks a lot for this, I was eagerly waiting for this. Kolkata Suburban Railway timelapse is going to be awesome !

When were most of these lines/routes created? Before or after independence?
after independence
Great job Saurabh!!!. Very good use of animations and color patterns.
Love from kalyani Simanta Line
I am from kalyani Silpanchal 🤗🤗🤗
Unlike the Mumbai Churchgate line, the Kolkata Suburban doesn't have a dedicated 4-track high segment for high-capacity operation.
Hi Saurabh. This is a very informative video. Thank you for this. Can you let me know of your sources from where you learnt that Katwa-Azimganj and Bardhhaman-Bolpur sections were being converted to suburban sections please ?? Any links or sources you can point to. Will be very grateful 🙏
good video and please make the video of Kolkata metro route explaining. thank you 🙂🙏
I think you have missed out Kolkata Railway Station in which dum dum jn. at down line are divided into 2 destination Stations (I.e, sealdah station and kolkata station)
Now I can clearly understand about the Kolkata Suburban Railway routes or timetable, bro.

Is a Google My Maps available for Mumbai Suburban Railway ?
And salute to you since you made the Google My Maps of Kolkata Suburban Railway, as I myself make a lot of Google My Maps I can understand your patience and hardwork !
I haven't yet made Custom map of Mumbai Suburban. But, will soon be making one with a similar video on Mumbai Suburban Network. 😎
Do they have slow and fast lines ? Like we have ? In mumbai ?
They Do Have Slow and Fast services, but Not dedicated lines. Only the corridor from Sealdah to Naihati is 4 Line, rest all are Triple, double or Single line corridors and use same lines for All services. The line details of each corridor will be mentioned in Respective Timelapses.
We have galloping locals which serves as fast trains. The galloping trains are usually long distance Suburban trains
Aap yha HWH to ASN (200 KM) ek sath 2-2 train up/dn chala sakte hain.
@Mainak, How about Barrackpore Gallop😜
@@SaurabhRautIR Haha, how about Kurla fast local or Bandra Fast local

Great 👍👌
Is barasat and barrackpore rail line possible
Saurabh Raut have you travelled in Bangaon Local in Office Time? It has the same crush load as Slow Kalyan or Slow Kasara Local
Yeah, I was very well aware of the rush of Sealdah Bangaon route. So for shooting the Timelapse, I traveled in the opposite direction of Rush 😜
@@SaurabhRautIR have you faced any problem in Howrah Division or Kharagpur Division
@@SaurabhRautIR that's the trick, you got that right
The Only line on which I Faced maximum Rush comparatively was Sealdah - Budge Budge
How is the water facility in Kolkata
