      @@rashadgaston548 Well, that’s the deal. The Israelites are Caucasian. The Ancient Egyptians were many races. In the First Dynasty, they were predominantly black African, but starting with the Second Dynasty, they were predominantly Caucasian. After Alexander the Great conquered Egypt, the rulers were Greek. That was the Ptolemy Empire. The Greeks are Caucasian. There were many Cleopatras, but the most well known Cleopatra was a ruler of the Ptolemy Empire. She was Greek. Eventually the Roman Empire conquered Egypt. Anyone from any racial heritage could become a Roman citizen, but they were predominantly Italian. The Italians are Caucasian. After Rome fell, the Arabs moved in. Arabs, like the Israelites, are Caucasian.
      Ignorant, improperly educated, left wing fools blindly and naively revealed that ignorance and lack of education/improper education by assuming that the movie had been whitewashed. They believed this because they’re ignorant of history, ignorant of racial heritage indicators, and do not read enough.
      You wouldn’t want to be like them, would you?

    To the people who argue a lot about Egyptian history, Many of you need to educate yourselves on this subject matter. FIRST of all the Original Egyptians were the Nubians, and they were as black as midnight. There were SEVERAL different types of Egyptians, because other Empires came to conquer them. The Asians came and conquered Egypt too, which was around Moses' time period (ca. 1250 BC). These people were called the Hyksos (look it up).. So if anything, The Pharoah Ramses and the Egyptians should mostly look like tanned/dark Asians.. So Bollywood actors will definitely pass for them. Now around Cleopatra's time (40 BC), they were white. Why? Because Cleopatra wasn't even Egyptian, she was GREEK! And the Romans took over Egypt at that point and placed puppet leaders. Nowadays, Egypt has been taken over by the ARABS: basically Muslims. There are still Nubians living in Egypt, but think of them as the Native Americans in America..living in Reservations. People should like this comment so everyone can see this and stop arguing about if Egyptians should be black/white or whatever, lol. I'm still not gonna see this stupid movie though

I know that this bible story will be completely tampered and fiction-modified. So to me, I just want to see a good entertaining movie. By the way, I do have one question though just for food for thought. WHY IS EVERYONE IN THIS MOVIE WHITE?!!! The real story happened in Egypt which, the last time I checked, was in Africa. Just thought I'd ask

    After reading the comments, I'm astonished at how many simple minds there are out there. It's as if people don't realize the races of mankind is a spectrum of colors, not just black or white. Egyptians,my friends have a distinct look and color of skin, distinct, but similar to other Middle Eastern races. And black people, be proud of your African heritage, but for the love of God, stop trying to hijack other cultures as your own. Granted, some Egyptians were black, but according to ancient Egyptian texts, blacks were always acknowledged as foreigners. As for the similar look between blacks (only applies to _some_ light skinned American blacks) and Egyptians, well you can thank your native American heritage for that. Before your pure African genes got mixed with native American genes, which share similar traits with Egyptians, you looked just like your native African brethren. In fact, if you take an actual African with no American Indian heritage and compare them to Egyptians, the similarities cease to exist. That is all.

    • @miikeV33

      Obsidian SeventyOne Always interesting to hear from the laymen. Keep reading buddy, you'll get there one day! As for the texts, all of them refer to the nubians (blacks) only when referencing servants or slaves, but always as foreigners. Also, there are blacks depicted in the hieroglyphs and are clearly different to even the most simple mind from _actual_ Egyptians to include the darkness of the skin color, the noses and lips are distinctly bigger and rounder, and the tasks these people are depicted performing equates to what the texts describe, servant tasks. Either way, as it's obvious you're part of the crowd that all wants the rest of us to believe Jesus who was a Jew is actually black, I doubt reason and logic will work with you. You, friend, need to be proud of your own heritage, and granted, while blacks may have been _A_ labor force behind the building of the pyramids, they were not _THE primary_ labor force, and certainly not the brains behind it as they were not the ones in charge. Oh and it doesn't matter which middle eastern race I choose as an example to compare the Egyptians to, the point is they all fit in the same circle, a circle that does not include white people, orientals, or blacks. Thanks, come again!
      Oh and the Egyptians classified people into 4 different "species" as they called it.
      bit.ly/1FRyua9
      PS. I'm Italian and yeah my people created shit. A lot of shit actually. Italians have a very rich and innovative history, thanks for acknowledging that ;) But you're wrong about us being the only ones to create shit. The Babylonians, Ming Dynasty, Aztecs, or the Myans to name a few other cultures known for their achievements. In laymen's term, you're full of shit bro.

    Why do we, as humans, always feel the need to be superior to the other in knowledge? "My belief is more correct that yours" "What you believe is stupid" "This is why your view is false" Why can't we just acknowledge every belief and leave contradictions to our own buried? Respect what is real for the other and not feel superior because we feel it is "false". Faith is never false. Belief is never false. It's alive in everyone one of us. Different yes. But that is what we all are, we are all different. And if you really feel the need to justify your belief or faith because of some contradiction, sounds to me that you're just trying to prove some ideal point, not to the person, but to yourself. Just put your opinions aside and listen from time to time. You'll hear some interesting stuff about others. It doesn't mean you have to feel threatened by it, but more amazed that their possibility exists in them. And that's fascinating. Being closed minded will only allow you to NOT progress your belief or faith more.

      You're right Annabella. It's astounding how little, people know about history. Funny, they ask you how you know about this history. It's as if they know better. They ask you to prove it. Can THEY prove what THEY think they know? Southern Egypt today is inhabited by people we know call 'BLACK AFRICAN.' For colonial purposes, the british sowed confusion by calling them 'Nubians.' They are not the original Nubians/ Kushites. The Nubians of the days of Ancient Egypt are the ancestors of a very dark people who are also very tall, that are known by various names like Dinka, Fur, Shilluk, Nuba among others. Northern Egypt, really the rim along the Mediterannean, is mostly inhabited by people who are mixed Arab and African, pure Arabs, and Mixes between ancient Greeks, Persians, Romans, Arabs, Africans and Turks (Egypt much later became a colony of the Ottoman chiefdom). Having been a superpower it attracted people from all over the world, towards the end of it's time. Much like America has been of late. Oh yes, and Native Americans also visited, lived in, and mixed with peoples of Ancient Egypt. But the core fact is, initially, it was a 'Black' (Black is an ambiguous term used to refer to a vast array of peoples who mainly inhabited Africa, Southern Arabia and Southern Asia, as well as Australia) kingdom. Hundreds of satellite empires sprung up across Africa, as Ancient Egypt and it's southern neighbor, Kush/ Nubia/ Cush were collapsing.

    A movie where they still cast white actors to play Egyptian characters make this film incredible. It's the year 2014, it is safe to say that more than half of the world has already figured out that the original settlers of Kemet were that of black Egyptians who later mixed with Libyans, Romans, Persians, Arabs, Greeks, etc. It is like casting a Middle Eastern to play a North Korean. It simply doesnt go together nor make any sense. Other than that, it is a really good epic movie to see with friends solely for entertainment purposes. I loved it.

    It looks rather adulterated. Moses was indeed adopted as a son by an Egyptian princess, but there is little mention of the name of the Pharaoh, and how he was related to Moses via Moses's adoption, not to forget that Moses actually got exiled because he killed an Egyptian after seeing that the Egyptian was oppressing an Israelite, and hence, did not have any more access to the Egyptian court thereafter.

And to make it worse, the film's uses black actors specifically as beggars, thieves, and other sordid Egyptians. In 2014, this kind of blatant racism and white-washing is still rampant in Hollywood.

    A lot of people are complaining that the roles of these people are played by fair-skinned actors. While I completely agree that it makes no historical sense, there are other more glaring things in these period pieces that NO ONE ever complains about; namely, the language used in the movie.
    If we're talking about representing the ancient Hebrew/Egyptian culture...Why are these people speaking English to begin with? If it's authenticity we're striving for, we need to be consistent all the way. You can't just complain about the physical appearance and neglect the other hickups.
    I wish there would be someone other than Mel Gibson who's willing to finally use the original languages of the periods that are being represented in these movies. Subtitles aren't the devil. People can read.

    • @ashleyocampo1332
      @ashleyocampo1332 10 лет назад

      Maybe they're speaking English because the movie is being released in the USA, a predominantly English speaking country. But I see your point about historical inaccuracy. They made Moses out to be some conquering warrior when he had actually been living as a shepherd in the desert for 40 years after fleeing Egypt because he killed someone.

    • @regelemihai
      @regelemihai 10 лет назад

      Ashley Ocampo That too.
      But the whole "it's released for English speaking audiences" thing just doesn't make sense to me. Inglorious Basterds was a blockbuster as well, and Tarantino pulled it off without making the Germans and Frenchmen speak freaking English among themselves! Makes absolutely no sense, especially when it doesn't require a huge budget to make the movie in the original language, and provide subtitles. People can read, for goodness sake! It's what we foreigners do all the time when we watch movies in English. It isn't that catastrophic :P

      regelemihai So what language should they be speaking? Egyptian? Almost no one alive that speaks that and certainly no one that speaks it the way it was spoken several millennial ago. Coptic? Again no one speaks that and it wouldn't be correct for the time period. Arabic? historically incorrect for the time period. There is no way for them to make this film linguistically accurate.

    • @regelemihai
      @regelemihai 10 лет назад

    According to the Bible's chronology Thutmose III would actually be the Pharaoh of the Exodus, well either him or his step mother. We have historical records of a Pharaoh by the name of Shosinque who invaded Canaan in the year 925BC. In the book of 1 Kings, it says that "In the fifth year of King Rehoboam's reign, King Shishak(Shosinque) of Egypt came up and attacked Jerusalem." So that brings us to 930BCE. 1 Kings says Solomon ruled for 40 years and that in the fourth year of his reign he built the Temple. So now we are at 966BCE. 1 Kings says that the temple was built 480 years after the Exodus. so that means the Exodus occurred at about 1446BCE during the reign of Thutmose III or possibly his stepmother Hatshepsut, whom was document as one of most prolific builders in ancient Egypt . According to the book of Exodus, Moses was 80 years old when he spoke with the Pharaoh of the Exodus, meaning that in 1526 the Pharaoh of the Oppression was Ahmose I, the pharaoh who drove the Semitic Hyksos out of Egypt.

    It is outrageous that the Egyptian civilization is rewritten in a fucked up way to match the beliefs of the followers of the bible.
    For ancient Egyptians, all these events never happened. they never recorded them. they only existed in the imagination of an old rabbai somewhere in the forgotton middle eastern desert..
    Oh Ramses the Great, your heroism and your great deeds for your people shall never be erased from memory. Rest in peace, you shall be remembered when all your enemies are forgotten.

    • @lamontcranston1716
      @lamontcranston1716 10 лет назад +20

      Well from what I've heard the Egyptians had a selective memory. If something happened that they didn't like, they erased it from their history. We have evidence of this, for example, that one Pharoah that tried to make Aten the only God, and do away with the rest. When he died they tried to get rid of his doctrine, and stuff. I mean we still found it, but imagine all the shit that could've went down that they erased more effectively. So it's no great surprise that certain things weren't recorded or suppressed. If your pharaoh, who is a god on earth says something never happened, it didn't

    • @mrasheed8655
      @mrasheed8655 10 лет назад +6

      Lamont Cranston these are not evidence. these are speculation. the bible talks about tribes not countries like egypt. the name for egypt in the bible is the tribe of Misr or misreem which was translated to egypt mistakenly. the real events of the bible are in a microscopic desert somewhere in northern Yemen desert. they never happened in Egypt of Greater Syria. colonialism however did a great job deceiving all of us to control the region.

      Mitch Walter Before I begin, while I do believe in God, I do NOT believe in any of the current belief systems that is Christianity(or Judaism for that manner, as a whole). I'm not going to go into my beliefs and various reasons for them because they have little if anything to do with the topic at hand, I was just wanted to state my perspective.
      There is actually a tremendous amount of scientific research and data that indicates the events surrounding The Exodus story were not only possible, but plausible. Even the specific events of the parting of the Red Sea and the chain of events that lead to the downfall of the Pharaoh and his Dynasty alike.
      Im going to save myself the trouble of posting dozens of individual links supporting my claim, and just tell you to do your own damn research before making false statements and accusations just because they seem more logical from your perspective.
      You can start by simply Googling something to the affect of "scientific research into the events surrounding the events of the exodus"
      or just click...
      www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=scientific+research+into+the+events+surrounding+the+events+of+the+exodus+

    Since there are so many myths and half-truths being spread, here is a mostly unbiased summary of the whole ancient Egyptian "race" issue based on the last few decades of evidence-based research by Egyptologists:
    Egypt was not originally one kingdom, but was originally two kingdoms. Lower Egypt (northern Egypt) was inhabited by brown-skinned people we'd today call "Middle-Eastern". Upper Egypt (southern Egypt) was inhabited by black-skinned people we today call "Nubians" (who resemble Sudanese and Somalis in appearance).
    Around 3100 BC, Upper Egypt expanded northwards and conquered Lower Egypt, creating the unified kingdom of Egypt. The first dynasty were Upper Egyptians (i.e. black "Nubians") but many later dynasties were from Lower Egypt (i.e. brown "Middle-Easterners").
    In other words, the idea that Egyptians were just a single "race" (whether "black" or "Middle-Eastern") is a myth. Egypt was, in fact, the world's first multi-ethnic, "multi-racial" civilization. And over time, both Upper and Lower Egyptians eventually merged into a single Egyptian identity. As a result, we see wall paintings where Egyptians clearly distinguish themselves from their neighbours, lighter than Nubians but darker than Syrians & Lybians.
    Another myth is the idea that modern Egyptians are Arab invaders, which is nonsense. In Roman Egypt, there are hundreds of Fayyum mummy paintings demonstrating that Egyptians in Roman times looked hardly any different to Egyptians today, centuries before any Arabs went to Egypt. And those Fayyum mummies are genetically similar to both ancient Egyptians in Ramses' time and modern Egyptians today. The majority of Egyptians today are mostly descended from ancient Lower Egyptians, while Egypt's Nubian minority today are mostly descended from ancient Upper Egyptians.
    However, one thing we can agree on is that there were, most definitely, no white-skinned Egyptians in ancient times. The only "white people" in Egypt at the time of Ramses would have been a very small number of Greek "Sea Peoples" whose presence in Egypt was mostly limited to being either slaves or pirates, i.e. among the lower classes. The only time Greeks ever became Pharaohs was after Alexander's conquest a thousand years after Ramses. However, the genetic contribution of both Greeks and Arabs to the modern Egyptian gene pool was very small, and mostly limited to a few major cities, like Cairo and Alexandria.

    The number of racist black people on here makes me sad.
    The Egyptians were not black. They were Mediterranean, which was quite pale in comparison to Africans. Skin colour ran a gambit in Egyptian territory, but the ruling elite were by no means black.
    The Hebrews were darker skinned than, say, an Irishman, but they were not black, either. They were a Semitic people whose ancestry is shared with the Arab. Tan skin, not black. The Semitic peoples were descended from Europeans and had far paler skin than the Africans.
    This movie isn't racist. People claiming it is racist? Definitely racist.

    The Exodus story was perfectly told in "The Prince of Egypt." Why do we need some washed up director's interpretation of a story we've already heard before?
