    Matt & Nat actually makes the inside lining of their bags with 100% recycled plastic bottles!! so it is sustainable :)

    Lindsey, please keep an eye on the mucus and shortness of breathe. We shared the same symptoms, and I ended with a diagnosis of onset adult asthma last year. Its pretty bad with the amount medicines that I take daily. I thought it was just a simple cold and until I could not breath.

    You can actually compost tissues! As I see it, the waste is more in the making process, the packaging, distribution, etc.

    What does Rent the Runway do with items once they go “out of style” or people stop being interested in the item? I’m just curious 🤷🏼‍♀️ it’s a super cool concept and I love that things are being reused

    Grab utensils from your current collection in you kitchen instead of buying a bamboo Travel set it also makes it easier to swap for new ones when the old ones need to be cleaned. This gets me every time in zero waste videos just use your own utensil don’t buy anymore it is unnecessary.

    • @modernhumanity7
      @modernhumanity7 4 года назад +1

      Can you suggest a clean way to transport the utensils? I'd be happy to carry silverware, but all I can think of is wrapping in a hanky with a rubber band (which could totally work)

    Rent the Runway has a huge carbon footprint because of the shipping, so keep that in mind. :) The greenest way is to use what you’ve got, or buy used, and keep it going as long as possible.

    Loved this video! I have a question though, am I the only one who just doesn't use produce bags? Obviously if you're buying a lot of stuff it could be a hassle to have a bunch of loose produce, but for just one or two people I've never had a problem.

    it's cool stuff but I just hate the idea that you need to go out and buy a bunch of stuff to be more zero waste. Everybody already has these things in their house, you don't need to go out and buy them. You can have the same travel mug for 50 years and never need to buy another one. I dunno I just think about the resources that go into producing new items and the shipping and everything behind the scenes that might be doing more damage than they're worth.

    • @VampAna1003
      @VampAna1003 5 лет назад +11

      Not everyone has those things in their house. We never had a travel mug, stainless steel bottles or straws in our house. For example, I also moved across the continent (Europe) and I couldn't really bring much with me. This combination of not having things at home + moving, made me buy zero waste stuff. Not every household is the same and not everybody has these things in their house.

    I remember when you used to carry Celine bags! This is definitely a change. Good for you though! I love my leather purses still haha (: Honestly a lot of those options you mentioned are really expensive, I would love to shop at Whole Foods/ buy an expensive yeti cup/ drive a tesla..hahaha like how are these options sustainable for low income people? (ect). Also it seems like this sustainable vegan lifestyle is really all for a social media image.

    • @mariachristina97
      @mariachristina97 5 лет назад +3

      I understand what you are saying. I think a lot of people who make the expensive changes really do care about the planet and other people. But a lot of the things she has can be made with things from home or secondhand items. Starbucks has a reusable cup for like $1 or $2, but thrift stores can have cups and bottles from super good brands. I found a Klean Kanteen for $3 in a goodwill. Utensils can be brought from home. I made produce bags from some old worn out t-shirts. There are expensive ways to do zero waste and there are low to no cost ways to do zero waste, which also tend to be more zero waste.

    • @SummerLovesGlitter
      @SummerLovesGlitter 4 года назад +2

      yes those are all wonderful ways! I just wish more youtubers mentioned cheaper althernatives in their videos as well. It would be more relatable than just "trendy".

    • @mariachristina97
      @mariachristina97 4 года назад +1

      @@SummerLovesGlitter Yes, I completely agree about also highlighting more accessible alternatives. I think the are some zero waste focused youtubers who do this well and emphasize that you don't need to go out a buy a bunch of things to start living more zero waste. However, they reach a narrower audience, since their subscribers tend to already be into zero waste stuff in some capacity.
