This would be a really nice regular wide angle prime on the R7/R10. This is actually technically a 14mm lens but canon designed it mostly for jpeg shooters to use with in-camera lens corrections. The RAW files show really bad vignetting wide open but the in-camera jpegs show it crops in a bit to 16mm so the vignetting doesnt look so pronounced. On a R7 this would be virtually a perfect 24mm prime with no vignetting and little distortion
Yeah, the lens design without the correction is wider than after the correction is applied… I think that in terms of size, it would also be a nice match with the R7/R10 but in the same time the quality would also decrease especially on the R7. Because the sensor is magnifying the resolution of the lens even more since it’s cropped. I love 24mm but I personally would pick a 1.4 over a 2.8 for the focal length because it would still be small but offers more flexibility. But canon hasn’t released anything like that yet for their crop sensor cameras… 😅😅 That said, mounting this lens on the cropped sensor camera would still be a great option. ☺️ Thank you very much for watching and also for commenting, really means a lot! I wish you a great time, stay safe and have fun shooting! ☺️
Canon has announced a 1.4 for 14 mm, now. But I think this will be approx 1 kg heavy. Nevertheless, do you think it's better than the EF-S 10-18mm during daylight on an R10?
Thanks for your review. I have this lens and I love it. It offers a lot of opportunities and creativity in a small package, never mind price. I have so much fun with it on my R6. I'm not using my L flashy glass when shooting on the streets. But man, that protective plastic on so chip lens is kind of ridiculous.
Congrats on having the lens, I am sure you've produce many great results with it. I agree, this lens really offers so much creative opportunities in such a small package. It is really fun to use, the quality is great and the price point is nice as well. Regarding the protective sticker, I don't usually like putting them on but one thing I really notice in material change between the ef L lenses to the RF lenses is that the RF lenses really get scratched up much easier than the ef lenses.... Of course, naturally I tend to scratch lenses over the time but I just could handle how quickly the RF lenses would get scratched up very soon and very often... I thank you very much for watching as well as for sharing your experience, really much appreciated it. I wish you a great time, stay safe and have fun shooting! :-)
I have tamron EF 17-35mm f2.8-4 latest model on Canon R body with adapter . Should I swap it with RF 16mm. As I use tamron lens mainly for 17mm. Is image quality of this canon lens better than tamron
Ive had the tamron, its really good at 17, i suspect the rf16mm might be a bit weaker in the corners and a bit more compact in size, but not weather sealed like the tamron.
Yeah, this lens is pretty great. :-) Thank you very much for watching and also for your comment, very much appreciated. I wish you a great time, stay safe and have fun shooting! :-)
For the lens, I got it from AliExpress but for the camera, I got it from the local camera store. :-) Thank you very much for watching, really means a lot. I wish you a great time, stay safe and have fun shooting! :-)
Yeah, it’s a nice focal length and also a perfect size for the camera as well! ☺️ congrats on the combination, I’m sure you’ll produce some great results with it! ☺️☺️
12:00 The screen twitches very badly. Although Canon has upgraded the firmware, it is only an improvement, not a solution. I think the IBIS of R5/R6/R7 is flawed.
A fault it already improved a lot. If you look t the time when this video was uploaded and also when the newest firmware was released, this video came out before that… So you can’t really use that to judge the new IBIS firmware… It just wouldn’t be fair… Sure, you will see a tiny bit of wobbly but it’s much improved… Then, now that you also have the ability to turn off either the lens IBIS or the camera’s IBIS, you won’t see the wobble. So I’d recommend maybe you can try that and see first. Otherwise, thank you for watching, I wish you a great time, stay safe and have fun shooting
Haha, yeah it's a protective sticker.. But you can really customise them and get them to your personalised look. :-) Though it doesn't really help soften the drop but it really does help protecting scratches which helps a lot especially when I throw my equipment around.. :-) Thank you very much for watching, I wish you a great time, stay safe and have fun shooting! :-)
Your love of photography really comes across. Enjoyed the video.
Thank you so much for watching as well as for the kind words, really appreciated it! I wish you a great time stay safe and have fun shooting! :-)

I think I heard about this lens from other content creator I've been following 😁
Just put it on my R7 which gives it 25.6 mm the human EYE focal length is between 22 and 26mm so it will be perfect for a crop body!!
Yeah, it’s a nice focal length and also a perfect size for the camera as well! ☺️ congrats on the combination, I’m sure you’ll produce some great results with it! ☺️☺️
not 25.6mm... the orig focal length is shorter then 16mm :)
