    I remember like yesterday about 35 years ago; I learnt to sing the whole of this song despite a foreign language ; in 1989 when I was in A level, in Kilimanjaro Dom, I heard the death of Franco through the neighborhood dinning Hall radio. The way I cried like a small child!!!!. This music was then played in all radio channels like a national Anthem for a whole week. Every time I listen to this song Kimpa Kisanga Meni I get a different taste. I have never gotten enough of Franco's music. We should be forming a Global Franco Association.

      Just recently lost my father and listening to Franco makes me feel reconnected. he was a great fan of Franco. people would ask me that you look young to listen to such. For me it's my connection with my dad through such great people like Franco. Long live my father's best music and i will always love him and Franco keeps the fire and love within me! Christmas time in Zambia was mostly punctuated by Franco songs for those of us who grew up in Lusaka, Kabwata -Zambia

    @hyacinthezamwangana8418 Год назад +15

    Avec une profondeur sans limite, Grand Maître Franco a touché à toute la thématique de vie sociale .il fait ici la lecture sociologique et anthropologique de la culture kongo dans un contexte magico-religieux lié à la pratique négative de la sorcièrie.

    • @raymondguy7348

      Très bonne analyse !
      À la base le Grand Maître Franco est un auteur «satirique ». Il dénonce les méfaits de la société et à la manière de jean de la Bruyère dans les «caractères » ou les maux de ce siècle il peint et dépeint ses personnages les fustige et parfois les bouscule On l’observe dans très impoli. Tailleur. Mamou Non Ida et ….
      Ces chansons sont pour la plupart des pamphlets

    The bass in this track, and Franco's 'wailing' guitar in the background endures to this day. Franco's 'wailing' lead guitar would be called 'guitar inapiga nduru' I give it up for the bassist, Franco's lead guitar, and the percussionist. That was a powerful collaboration. I wish there was a video of them recording this in the studio.

    Kimpa Kisangameni (1983)
    Done in Franco’s native Kikongo, it starts with heavy Mpundi Decca bass guitar (like it was with Jackie in 1978) punctuated with a mournful husky voice of Franco. Kimpa Kisangameni means charms planted on the roof of a house and Franco is telling his mother to see the charms that enemies have brought to kill him. He says his brother Bavon Marie Marie (died in 1970 in a car crash) was killed by sorcerers.
