One of my all-time favorite human beings. I had a school boy crush on Irene when I was in Jr High and she had released “Out Here On My Own” and “Anyone Can See”. Boy, I thought she was so beautiful with a gorgeous voice to boot.
And, around my sophomore year she had “Flashdance(What a Feeling)”….and, it seemed whenever she did a Live performance her eyes seemed to have sparkling stars twinkling in her them. (**if ANYone else noticed them also…PLEASE share with me🥹😬…..I don’t want to think I’m was going nutso, as school friends would tell me so and that there was NO sparkling eyes 🤷🏽♂️🎼)
My siblings and I didn’t miss ONE episode of the 80’s TV version of “Fame”. The entire cast was amazingly good. Several good songs that I still enjoy today.

Watching FAME now, in her honor. I was 9 going on ten when it came out. Heard so much about it, but never seen it. Ten minutes in, and I'm loving it already as I've always been an artsy kind of person. And it's nice, seeing NYC in its former gritty glory, in a non-digital age. I remember going to the movies back then when Fame was released, and boy, was I shocked at such a performance. She stole that movie from everyone. Truly an amazing artist vocally. She honed her craft with her voice, and it showed because she came from a music background with her father. It's a shame as she was indeed black balled because she stood up for herself when women weren't supposed to. I don't say this because of internet searches, I say this because it still goes on today, and that's a very raw deal. She was a recluse unfortunately and I'm sure we'll never know her true last words. Such a sign of the times that people refer to themselves and others as kings and queens. Not to come off like a d!ck but the ego and entitlement of those terms really shine brightly even when used in a positive manner.
