I have huge respect for this guy. He is such talented vocalist and artist and I love that the way he imparts knowledge from his personal experience is so down-to-earth and relatable.
Very glad to hear this!
The Mickey Mouse mimic was wild🤣🤣 too good
You cannot be a singer if you can't copy sounds! He is 100% correct! This dude is singing one of the highest notes Celine Dion did as I type this... holy shit!
He killed it 😮😮😮😮
As a natural born Beyhiver. I grew up mimicking Beyoncé’s runs and harmonies and belts. So much so I’ve gotten to the point where I feel like I have use my voice almost like an instrument like she does. I really want to build on that and go to vocal class
OMW!! You are the first vocal coach that makes sense. Mimicking sound. It's exactly how I started singing. Thank you for sharing.
You're welcome!
That second Celine high note was crazy. Gave me chills. 😲🔥
Same omg I put my hand on my chest when he started singing Celine ❤
Mimicry was the first thing I discovered on my own when I started my singing journey. It's true that I learned to understand my voice the fastest that way.
What he doesn't really say is that by copying someone who is good at singing, it teaches you control of your voice and shows you new ways to move your voice and trains your ear to actually listen.
I really love this philosophy around singing
Holy. I was skeptical at first but damn this dude has a tremendous gift. O.O
He's amazing!
I can vouch for this, mimicking vocals in singing/rapping styles from Americans was how I started as a British kid. However, it can give you a distorted mindset if you're not self-aware. It took me until my late 20's to realise that my vocal range is deeper than the standard range I use it in. Despite being able to falsetto Jackson 5's "Who's Lovin' You", I found out that I'm a Baritone and not a Tenor.
How is this guy not famous himself!?
Probably doesn’t particularly want to be. Could have gone on countless platforms to show what he does but didn’t. He’s probably so good at teaching and getting results that people find him through word of mouth.
watching this I realised how patient singers are. You can't annoy them with sounds 🤣
this RUclips channel is a huge blessing
Thanks so much!
I triple this sentiment@@Studio
Wow. Those impressions were so on point! Subbed just for that
Welcome aboard!
To me, the key to find your style is mimic...I tell this to all of my singing students...in combination with speech therapy knowledge....singing teachers are like good stylists...it is just style advice, what suits your voice best ( in aa healthy way) together with the student's interest...every singer and style is like learning a new language in placement, phrasing etc
Very cool interpretation and accurate
Stevie is so spot on. It’s from mimicking that you’re able to master sounds & techniques but more importantly discover your own voice. Stevie gets to the point & gives you insight that most vocal coaches don’t share. Yep, I’m a fan & have taken both of his classes!🙌🏽♥️🎶👍🏽
I have so much from this video than all my years in a choir. This explains so much about my journey thus far in music and I’m excited to start mimicking.
Thank you for this. I am a polyglot (someone that speaks multiple languages). The mockingbird is the ultimate copycat, and part of its latin name is poliglotis. I have been able to copy and mimic sounds, including the sounds of other singers. It always felt like i was not finding "my voice." Now, i can let go of decades of feeling less of a singer.
I learned so much from mimicking. I am lucky to have power and range, but control, riffs, runs and holding a note++ I learned from copying, and it's like a fun game.
I feel validated, because I never heard anybody say this before, but of course we learn lots of techniques from this.
And singing with someone who's as good or better makes me better in the moment, like pure magic. It's inspirational.
Def should be a video on clarity control. The things youre doing is mimicking but when people want to do it at home home theres a ton of issues that they can run into that is not present in this video
As a vocal coach, HE IS 100% SPOT ON! This is the gospel, literally! Love Stevie Mackey! Much love and mad respect!!! I did all the same annoying stuff too as a kid, LOL!!!
This is the best channel about music on the whole RUclips
Never put words to it like this, but this is great. Mimicking is how I learned, too. It's essentially the intuitive study of a voice
Great tips, and awesome singer!!
Mimicking my favorite artists is such an invaluable tool to figure out what your voice can really do. Hayley Williams is a big one for me, helped me transform my belt
Love and respect to STEVIE MACKEY, These are some incredible valuable lessons. It's gonna change my life.♥️🤟
Wow, this video makes so much sense to me and makes me realize why singing came naturally to me since I was young. I practiced using different voices and later being taught to recite Arabic I'm sure helped a lot too. I found that I always made the biggest breakthroughs in singing better when I tried to mimic an artist like Michael Jackson, Billie Joe Armstrong, keshi or GIVEON down to the syllables and doing that made me have those tools naturally when I'm singing other songs.
I always felt like I wanted vocal lessons but I didn't know what exactly to work on. I'd just search on RUclips for exercises and stuff and hope that it would somehow make me better. This video was very validating for me and I think it makes me want to dedicate "mimicking" into my vocal practice, always seemed like a natural and fun thing to do anyway.
That voice 😭❤... I'm subscribing
Welcome aboard!!
I thought this was a joke until he sang “my heart will go on” RESPECT!!!
wow, this is .... special. Pure understanding of how singing works. Good that we have so much "legends" to mimic from.
Very nice lesson. I lost some vocal ability due to sickness and I'm slowly regaining it. This strategy will surely help to exercise my voice in ways I never knew how.
Amazing, glad it helps!
This amazing. Getting the insight, and some very good pointers. Thank you Stevie, and Studio!
I wonder what the rates are for Stevie Mackey, would be such a superb teacher to ones in a while get a session with
“selena gomezs vocal coach” doesn’t really capture how good he is… more so the opposite. maybe amber riley would be a better name
In 0:03 it said he coached whitney, stevie wonder, avery wilson, nicole scherzinger and jojo like... WHY DID HE PUT SELENA'S NAME ON THE THUMBNAIL
@@summertime9332out of alllllll the choices…. i couldn’t believe my eyes knowing who he is
@@user-ng3mr8wc3o No shade to anyone but i’m not sure there are any aspiring singers looking to get her flavor of talent. It’s more of a turn off as a person wanting to get advice from great singers
I’m honestly glad I wasn’t the only one thinking it… like… that’s not a selling point. If anything it shows she really isn’t into being a serious vocalist because… it’s definitely not the teacher. I’ve been singing since childhood, but if I could do the work to learn from someone as great as him?! I’d be showing up doing the work as often as he deemed necessary and then some. Got the best resource but doesn’t care about the craft smh.
He probably thought Selena was the most mainstream so that would gain more engagement
Love you, Stevie!!! Honestly, amazing video! I mean the improvement you made with the female student was incredible.
This is gold. And three minutes in, Stevie's facial expressions and way of speaking reminded me of MJ. Glad to see how he used him as an example.
One of the most important things I've heard about singing, thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Oh crap mimicking the bells and everything just reminded me that I'm doing this shit all the time. The bip when the microwave is stopping, the coffee machine, everything really lmao !
I’m not only learning valuable information, but I’m also being entertained!
Such a great talent 👏🏼👏🏼
I lost it at 8:03 this man is incredible!
Really amazing, glad you enjoyed it!
This Man is such an Amazing teacher🙌🏽
absolutely fabulous vocal coach! what a gem!!!
This was wildly insightful
Awesome vocal coach and vocalist.
Thank you!
this guy just dropped the best vocal advice
YOOOOOOO Stevie mimicing is crazy!
This is what I always do, as a kid copying my favourite characters, try to sing like the singer, for example barbie, when I was 14 I suddenly discovered that I can sing an opera singer😂😂 and I still keep going mimicking sounds around me to annoy anyone 🤣🤣, hearing any song and try to sing like them. My parents used to scold me because I'm "noisy" they said that the neighbours said that I'm crazy😂. This video is 21 minutes, i smiled, gigled and laugh nonstop😂😂.Thank you sir, I will keep doing this, I want to apply and audition soon, you make me feel whole again thank you so much.
He is incredible.
This guy is a great coach!
For my whole life up to this point I have always had the desire to learn to sing, I was very little when I would sing at the top of my lungs, my mom told me I was about 6 or 7 years old. I sang at my wedding in 1977. I took voice lessons for a little while from 2 different teachers. But, I got discouraged. I don’t think they were really good teachers. But, I am hoping one day, I will get to learn to sing 🎶 😮 this has been a very awesome video! I thank you. 😊
I am not a singer, but I sing to feel, the resonance, I like the feeling.
Then you ARE a singer. Just shy. ❤
Thank you so much!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Mimicry is something I love doing but I feel judged by a lot of people. That's probably my OCD and autism, well, mostly OCD. This video gave me permission to do that part of me and embrace it. Thank you!
Why does this not have more views 😭 this is gold 😍
Beautiful voice
This was mind blowing to me - awesome.
This guy is the truth 🙌
At the end he’s trying to teach soul she’s used to trying to hit the correct note n enunciate. That grit n off note is the feel / soul . It’s what gives the emotion to the lyrics
I always wondered how Chris Martin from Coldplay with his unique voice has managed to also develop so much control and modulate so well these days, including hitting high notes consistently concert after concert. Sounding just like he is in the studio these days. Could be thanks to this vocal coach!
Very well done. Makes me want to take singing lessons…🎶
you're in the right place! Make sure to check out Stevie's class on Studio!
WOAH. this guy is amazing
Great knowledge existing free on the internet. Thank you for sharing🙏🏾❤️
Thanks for watching!
If I could mimic any singer, I’d love to sound close to Tevin Campbell. He’s definitely one of my favorite male vocalist
Wow !! This is Genius !! What a brilliant approach. !! i'm in ...Thanks for your inspiration Stevie !! ... Best Wishes RodGold :). Every Success to You Sir,,,
Your brilliant!
Watching this video makes me very humble to learn more about singing.. Thank you 🙏🏾 so very much
You're so welcome!
I used to hum along to the vacuum cleaner and match the tone
This video reminds me of something fundamental I’m trying to access so I can sing like I always dreamed
Except I for song and haven’t sung for a single soul
This was great. Far better than I was expecting
Great, thank you!
I love you Mr Mackey.
Yes jungkook from bts is amazing at mimicking everyone and everything literally like cartoons, sounds in the environment etc etc and he is an absolutely amazing singer!! Its helped him be able to sing in english and reproduce very spot on pronunciation . He even talks about the mimicking in various interviews and lives hes done. He has refined his listening skills in a very similar style to you💜💜💜💜
Half ladies singer
This was amazing. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Your very insightful and smart! 😊
Legend.
I do this a lot. When I was growing up I learned how to do cartoon voices and wanted to learn to sing like Depeche Mode. I don't know what my "real" voice sounds like though. I'm just a collection of other singer sounds.
yeah he too nice with it!! his falsetto sounds great too!!
The Cher was spot on ❤👏
this was so good 👌❤
STEVIE IS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!
He is!!
I love your voices!😊
you are a collection of everything you heard so true
this guy is giving some effective advices
This man looks like the male Queen Latifah. He is STUNNING.
Interesting. I remember hearing stories of MJ prank calling people and playing with different voices on the phone. Hillarious. Another MJ thing I remember, is certain recordings of him his breaths become part of the song
This beautiful
Thanks!!
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I just started my interest in singing i love these videos
great to hear this!!
AMAZINGGGGG
Thanks for watching!
Não esperava aprender tanto em um vídeo
I was just telling someone this cause I was like the master of disguise as a kid lol a real life tickle me elmo 😂😂 not a professional but I have so many different sounds it's hard to master without a coach but I'm almost there 😅
That’s the Suzuki methodology. Nice perspective.
That was actually insightful 😉
That's great, thank you!
This man is amazing 🔥🔥🔥
He is!
Yes so right man I heard Vin Diesel sing and thought to myself American actors can really do it all from Disney to Nickelodeon to the Big Hollywood films all can sing
This was spot on for what I've been doing as a small child. Super appreciated! Thank you Jesus Christ
Man he's 100%
So Fun 🎊
Pretty sure you have developed perfect pitch as well. You are a very talented dude. Your ability to hit the right notes intentionally helps a bit... :) Excellent video, you exude confidence like a flower distributing its pollen in the wind. :)
He is so inspiring!! I love him!! ✨️
my heart
100% agree with everything in the video. I like doing Elmo too but everyone begs me to stop LOL. Subscribed!
Thanks and welcome aboard!
It helps to have the vocal range you have. I'm not a singer, but I do sing a few songs, and mimicking is all I can do. If you can imitate Elvis, try tightening it up, raise the pitch and put it in your nose. Now Sing Every Rose Has Its Thorn.
