- Guthrie Trapp is one of the finest guitarists in Nashville, TN, a town known for its amazing musicians. In our Truetone Lounge interview, we talk with Trapp about his early playing experiences on the Gulf Coast, why he moved to Nashville, and how performing with the Don Kelley Band punched his career into overdrive. We also discuss his musically eclectic new album, Life After Dark, that features Vince Gill, Sam Bush, Stuart Duncan, Jimmy Hall, The McCrary Sisters, and Bekka Bramlett as guests.
Love how Guthrie acknowledged that he had great parents. You don't hear that very often anymore. He has become my favorite cotton pickin' string bendin' guitar slinger in the past couple of months.
Another great interview Zac. 😊
Guthrie is a hell of a player and hearing about his early years now explains why that is. Great interview.
Glad you give your parents and your uncle a lot of respect, and you deserve the best for everything you do and say .
THESE INTERVIEWS ARE GREAT!! BRING MORE OF THEM ON!
Jim, please share them with others. That helps us keep them going. Zac
I had the good fortune of doing Guthrie's Guitar Immersion Day in Nashville. Prior to meeting Guthrie I was super nervous and wondered what we would talk about all day. Within 5 minutes it was like hanging out with an old friend. He's a super generous person and tolerated my well below average skill level. So I highly recommend the Guitar Immersion Experience. Especially if you are a good player but as is the case with me, you don't have to be and it will still be just a great time. Also, I highly recommend the Artist Works country guitar tutorial with Guthrie Trapp. It is well worth every penny.
Once again, Zac you have hit it out of the park with this interview. Thanks so much to both of you!
Beautiful Story Zac & Guthrie
Guthrie needs to get a TV show. Like the old Roy Clark show. I can see it. He's got the same kind of likeablty. Having musical guests and just plain fun. I'm up for it.
First time I ever heard of GT was at Roberts Western Wear with the Don Kelly Band. Thanks again Zac & crew!
You are so welcome. I wish I had seen him play with Don. Zac
Great to have a Guitar player interview a Guitar player! Many thanks to Zac and Guthrie
Our pleasure!
This is a great channel. I’m fascinated by the Nashville scene but live in Seattle. I love the inside look here.
Thanks for watching!
Guthrie is the man. He’s helped my playing so much
ZAC YOU DO A GREAT JOB. YOU LET THE ARTIST TALK AND DON'T GET IN THE WAY. FROM YOUR OTHER INTERVIEWS IT'S OBVIOUS THAT YOU ARE ALWAYS WELL PREPARED. GUTHRIE IS SUCH A FASCINATING PLAYER AND I ALWAYS FIND HIM WORTH LISTENING TO. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK. LEARNING LOTS
David, thank you for the kind words. Like you said, I do my best to steer things, yet let the artist tell their story. Thanks for watching. Please subscribe and share it. Zac
Great interview, Zac! Guthrie is certainly an interesting guy and great player.
Excellent interview. Guthrie is awesome in every respect.
Once again Zac, a great subject and a fascinating interview. I was fortunate enough to meet Guthrie at a Sweethearts of the Rodeo show at the Station Inn in 2008. He was such a nice guy to chat with, and clearly an awesome musician. Looking forward to the next part of this! Great work!
Thank you for watching Colin, and your kind words. We will get part 2 out later this week. More playing and gear! Zac
Great work Zak. You're a good listener which makes for a great interview.
So impressed with Guthrie’s outlook and playing. He approaches the guitar as I do; learn how to blaze, but know which songs don’t need it! Too many ‘hot shot’ players blaze all the time, and it gets so boring...
Agreed. He has a great melodic sense, and knows when to burn too. Zac
Thanks for this one! Love Guthrie's playing!
it's so original yet so familiar.
You are welcome. Zac
Great interview with one of the best players. Thanks for putting this on.
You are very welcome. Please share it with others. Zac
Add one more excellent interview to the list Zach! Love all of them, and love Guthrie! Thank you!
You are welcome JC. Zac
Been waiting on this one! Thanks Zac and Truetone Lounge.

Another great interview..... thanks Zac for pulling these together with your crew
Check out a guy called Boogaloo Joe Jones and Melvin Sparks
Their playing reminds me of Guthrie's on Shag Rug Burn
Great interview

What’s not to like about Guthrie? Great interview as always Zac. Man, that RP jr Tele is a beast.
Thanks! It is a cool guitar, and Guthrie really knows how to bring out the best on any instrument. Zac
