    You are really going to be a better seamstress by the time you finish all those pants. I spent a whole year sewing mostly pants and now a button up shirt feels simple. Time consuming, but simple. Good luck with all your plans!

    She's back! 🎉 So excited when I saw your video pop up, and am loving these ideas and this concept! I've been slowly working on making hard things over the past few months - I made my first ever button up shirt and trousers this year, and also my first-ever quilt! Next up: jeans! It's been really fun and rewarding to sprinkle these projects in with easier makes to keep myself excited and growing. Looking forward to seeing your projects come to life :)

    I'm doing something similar: a pair of corduroy dungarees, and a winter coat 💪
    Good luck on your projects !

    Like you I decided to make 2024 the year I upped my skills. So far I have made a coat with welt pockets and am really pleased with the results. Choosing a pattern with great instructions is key for me. I am now 70% of the way through a trench coat with miles and miles of double topstitching- my seam ripper has been busy!!! Making the Merchant and Mills pinafore was good practice for the top stitching. Mitchell trousers are next!!!! I have made lots of shirts and looking forward to making the new Closet Core one. Really looking forward to seeing your progress and comparing learning points. Great to see you back - you have done a wonderful job on your makes so far. 😊 Lynne

    I made a pair of overalls , using hammered on buttons, a pair of cargo pants and I do have a coat in the idea bank with some boiled wool. I like interspersing harder makes with simple things. I also have a boiler suit on the back burner, a complex make for sure. Thanks for the inspo. Glad to see you here.

    I got a sewing machine finally for Christmas and haven't taken it out of the box yet, hopefully this helps me get past my anxiety 🫣

    I'm still not a fan of sewing in zippers after all these years lol. It's great to pick up a more advanced pattern so you can expand the sewing techniques that you are familiar with. I highly recommend sewing a dress or top with a built in corselette. It's seems like magic when even a busty gal like myself does not require strapless underpinnings to hold up a strapless garment. I think that tecnique and learning to sew welt pockets were two moments where I felt my "sewing brain" grow.
    Appreciate you sharing the patterns . I have never heard of Roberts-Wood but I now feel compelled to try that Bow Patchwork shirt (looks like it would make a great jacket...) and the flower patchwork pattens. Beautiful stuff.
    My personal objective this year regarding garment construction is to dive deeper into pattern drafting. I've made a couple but would like to get to the point where I draft whatever comes to mind or if I want to create my own interpretation of another designer's garment.

      Oh yess I’ve been meaning to sew a dress like that! I have yet to try welt pockets but this is the year for it I think!

    Glad to see you back! I'm going to make a year of easy clothes! I first learned how to sew in college, and after taking a couple classes, chose patterns that were way too hard for me and got discouraged. This was before RUclips tutorials too! Now I'm back, taking a couple of classes again, and am amazed at all of the online resources available and the indie sewing patterns. I've made 3 pairs of pajama pants so far and am working on the closet core pietra pants. My goal is to learn 1 or 2 new skills with each project, but no more, so it doesn't become frustrating.

    Excited for you!! I’ve been on a similar path this year. So far I’ve made a couple of Daughter Judy Coe Trousers (which I absolutely love), the Roberts Woods bow patchwork shirt, and I’m starting a merchant and mills coat. It’s been fun making beautiful complicated things.

    Love the Adams (and the Coe’s!) but beware- the zip fly instruction on the adams is NOT great. I’m not super advanced and I managed, but I’ve heard the same things from many sewists online who I would consider very experienced. I love the shop pant instructions though!

    • @MakingCassie
      @MakingCassie  6 месяцев назад

      I loved the shop pant instructions but I found the Coe fly instructions lacking, so I’m super wary of the Adam’s!

    • @katapult0987
      @katapult0987 6 месяцев назад

      @@MakingCassieI’ve only made the Coe’s once and I kind of remember thinking the instructions are a little better than the Adams. I do think the Coe’s actually tell you when to finish seams/edges which is nice. The Adams do not (or at least didn’t when I purchased) and that was a little frustrating the first time around. You can definitely do it though! I might try a different method on my next pair, but for some reason I’m always hesitant to switch up methods in case it doesn’t work. I have no idea why I think that though 😂
