Thanks for making an updated follow up on the Razor-Lite. I have a concern with guys who own this knife and others like it is that while the blade may not be sharp enough to use, I would hope that guys would not leave an used blade in the bush where some young boy who is doing some wilderness bonding with his father comes across the blade and hurt himself. Yeah, the majority of guys are very respectful of the land and wouldn't do that, but there are always some guys who just don't care because you don't want to put a used blade in your pocket. So guys that buy these knives should remember to plan ahead concerning where they will store a used blade till they get to a place to properly dispose of it.
Im from the inner city and have never been around people from outside the big cities but for some reason i still love this channel and it even got me into some of these things
I love my outdoor edge knife. I’ve been carrying it for a couple weeks now, used to carry a normal razor knife. The blades in the outdoor edge knife lasts much longer than ordinary razor blades and you can sharpen the outdoor edge blades at the end of the day if you wish. I do that to make them last longer since the blades are more expensive than normal razor knife blades.
Howdy. I bought the knife for game processing and will only use it for that. The only problem I had with it is when I waited a few days before I cleaned it after using it on a deer. The dried blood had stuck the blade to the point I had to use my leatherman pliers to pull it out. That taught me to wash the knife the same time I wash my hands after the processing is done. The blade lasted through the processing btw which included field dressing, skinning and quartering. And feels like it may do much of another one before sharpening. The fact the blades can be sharpened was the selling point for me. . . . Thank you for your review. . . .
I wouldn't trade my spyderco's for anything. However, even 4 years later, this has been the best value knife I have ever bought. Used and ubused for sure. Used as a pry bar, as a floor scraper, it's dressed a few deer, I've been through training with it, etc. I bought it as a back up/throw away. It is still just as good or better as it was new. Blades don't hold edge super long, but for how sharp these blades are, it's quite impressive. This is a quality steel blade. It's handy for people like me, where I am always on the run, I don't always have time to sit there with my stone and rehone, and sharpen my knives. So i carry it along with either my para 3 or YoJimbo, and my spyderco's stay sharp. I wouldn't recommend this knife as a first line of defense or anything. But I know mine would do the job without effort and without failure if necessary. I appreciate the paper cutting. Never done a paper cutting test. Looks kinda fun Y'all take care! God bless 👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
This is undeniably a useful design. I carry a folding knife with a box cutter blade that carries extra blades under the grip. It is my EDC . The knife you are reviewing seems it cuts better than my box cutter. I have to look into buying one. Thanks.
Yea utility blades are more accesible, But you are getting alot more cutting edge and also some belly. I could see this coming in handy hunting and caping out game since you have belly and razor sharp blades. May get one for my uncle who is a taxidermist to see what he thinks since he will get ALOT of use with it.
In my opinion that is what this knife if designed for I think they took a skinning knife and threw everyday carry on top of it. It is a perfect knife for skinning and it is great for everyday pocket knife but if you do use it for everyday carry be prepared to replace blades a lot. cutting paper or tape would be nothing for this knife I used it to cut hard plastic banding for pipe it destroyed this blade, took chunks out of the blade. But for hunting it purposes its perfect
I ordered one of these and a strop after the first video. I am pretty stoked. I do wonder if the blades are sterile. By "sterile" I mean just basic sterile not crazy like a medical scalpel but not covered in machine oil and grime.
+x9x9x9x9x9 its certainly not exposed to air or germs but I dont know what kind of oil they use to protect it or if its coating is safe for medical use
cutlerylover Thanks for the reply. Its not very often but on occasion I will get a splinter and need to basically cut it out. I am kinda germ-phobic when it comes to things like this and it would be pretty nice to open a new blade and go and not have to break out a torch or alcohol to sterilize the blade.
+The Man With No Name nothing film ed but the bird problem was at my parents house, since that video the bird has done the exact same thing to both my parents cars, so my father tried to turn in the side mirrors and it still crapped all over the doors and mirror, so it seems as if its a time issue in about another week or so the eggs should hatch and it should calm down and not be so territorial or magressive
Lightning otf (Chinese made, 40$) Microtech Ultratech ( USA made, 225$ and up) There are some in the 100$ - 200$ range but they aren't worth the price for what quality you're getting
a nice scalpel blade handle 20$ box of 100 blade 10$ save 50$ SWANN MORTON feels nice in the hand, dont bother with sub 10 $ scalpel handles off ebay there to thin and flimsy. 1st number is how big the blade is and the 2nd is the shape so it will read like number 4 #11. size 4 is a good size, google scalpel shape numbers to see different shapes
I always saw this as a gimmick. They could market it as the knife you never stop paying for. Or the Edge Lease program. Its definitely marketed to people who can't or won't learn to sharpen a knife. My chief problem with this is hygiene. There is no way to effectively clean the slot the blade fits into. If you plan to use this for food prep you are asking for food poisoning. They sell this as an outdoor knife and market it to hunters / campers. Those are people who will use their knife for food prep. I agree on the paper and cardboard cutting, its theater. if you want to show the knife working cut up a whole chicken into its 8 parts, then De-bone the parts. A friend was in my shop showing me how sharp his knife was by cutting paper, I took a piece of .015 shim stock out of my tool box and spent 30 seconds with a 220 grit machinists hone on the edge and cut the paper just as easy.
Well let me know how the shim stock EDCs for ya. Look man this is a knife that is undeniably useful for some things. Not everything can be done with this knife but really what knife can do absolutely every job? Some people just cant sharpen knives without screwing up the edge nor does everyone have a diamond coated extreme double backflip rocket machinists hone made from stone cut from the peak of everest. That being said it is a knife that you wont stop paying for, but if somebody wants to pay for it sothey can be out in the woods and wants to resharpen their knife they can just slip a new blade in and be done then by all means let them spend money. I think the only thing anyone can be disappointed with this knife is that they didnt think of it first. ;)
jozsua mcdonald Well, for one, if you can flick a knife out one handed, it's illegal to import it let alone own it. Carrying a knife for utility purposes is a grey area. Can't carry guns, tasers or stun guns. I don't think pepper spray is even legal to carry but I'm not sure on that one. Pretty sure you can't carry batons either. I don't mind the not carrying guns part but the rest really sucks.
Pete Michalski Just checked, it appears that you are correct. We can now import flipper knives and one hand opening knives. Still can't have assisted or automatic knives, but it's a start. I am so happy about this.

Every time I saw this knife I immediately pictured that "shelf" snagging while cutting. Thanks for addressing it.

The paper cutting was straight up mesmerizing
Hey Jeff, I love your story times and can't wait for the next one!!!
This is undeniably a useful design. I carry a folding knife with a box cutter blade that carries extra blades under the grip. It is my EDC . The knife you are reviewing seems it cuts better than my box cutter. I have to look into buying one. Thanks.
Thanks for finally doing a cut test ... Been looking forward to one for a long time.
These reviews are better than out of box reviews because it is only brand new once if you actually use your knives, this being an exception.
Love em. I got everyone at work carrying them now. They will replace the old box cutter knifes.
Hey Jeff. Next time you show us the blade sharpness, can you cut some phone book paper cutting test please?
I like the idea of the knife. I guess i would use that over a utility blade. Pretty cool
Yea utility blades are more accesible, But you are getting alot more cutting edge and also some belly. May get one for my uncle who is a taxidermist to see what he thinks since he will get ALOT of use with it.
Try an Opinel if you want a knife like a pocket razor. I have the knife in the review, its OK as a utility knife.
I actually had the same problem with the shelf to and my solution was to sharpen it without the blade in so it is more flush to the blade
I think it would be interesting to do the paper cut test after you test the knife that way you see how the edge held up
Keep up the great work Jeff, wonderful stuff.
Do you think it would be a good skinner like the Havalons are?
yes they're very good I skined my deer with it :)
In my opinion that is what this knife if designed for I think they took a skinning knife and threw everyday carry on top of it. I had to pause the video to go order one because it looks so cool and it's a very interesting concept

You make really great content man! Keep it up!

Hi, I'm new to the channel. Why did you stop using the CRKT bowie minimalist? Great channel.
I ordered one of these and a strop after the first video. I am pretty stoked. I do wonder if the blades are sterile. By "sterile" I mean just basic sterile not crazy like a medical scalpel but not covered in machine oil and grime.

wheres the second video of that bird jeff, fuck the knifes, bird=life
+The Man With No Name Hahaha I forgot about that but yeah now im interested where is the bird video!

+The Man With No Name

Your Opinion. This Knife or the Havalon Baracuta or Piranta?
I was wondering what is ur favorite knife
If you mute the sound you can still hear the paper being sliced!thumbs up super sharp
Thank god
this knife was not designed to cut cardboard and paper its a hunting/skinning knife....
Interesting concept, thanks for sharing.
would a teflon coating help make that catch less on the black
hey Jeff I recently purchased a benchemade model 42 balisong, what kind of loctite do you recomend
could you do a a video on how to sharpen a knife?
Can you baton with it, or does the shelf affect that?
lol
+Jeremy Madsen HA! Why would you ever want to baton with this? Like batoning with an Opinel.
You could baton popsicle sticks.
+hoshnasi I baton with my opinel, why not?
hoshnasi I'm just waiting for Cold Steel to do a video on this knife versus one of theirs.
a really new nifty box cutter :)
hey jeff I was wondering if you have a Bradley kimura 2 if so would you be up for selling it ?
Hey jeff awesome video i sent you a lighter a couple years ago with your initials engraved wondering if you still had it?

+cutlerylover awesome im glad
My buddy got this knife all in black and when I used it I fell in love also I want one in blue if they have one
You're in luck, the colors available are orange, grey and blue
I have the blue and it is awesome!
can u use 2 cameras one on taple ....one on you
I have the same knife and I keep a new blade in my wallet everyday, if the need arises
Yeaaahh work that tip!
Can you do a video on techniques to flick open knives? I cant do it
+Brennan Louderback It's all in the flick of the wrist.
Hold your thumb against the thumbstud, and push the blade out while flicking the blade forward a little.
cutlerylover its meant to be a skinning knife that knife has one purpose. Skinning big game.
cutlerylover its meant to be a skinning knife that knife has one purpose.
It's a great daily carry also. Or a backup beater.
cool!!
Hey Jeff! Can you tell me some good OTF Auto Knives?
how much you wanna spend?
tyler s Not sure, throw me some from different price points, lets say 3 from low to high price.
Lightning otf (Chinese made, 40$)
Microtech Ultratech ( USA made, 225$ and up)
There are some in the 100$ - 200$ range but they aren't worth the price for what quality you're getting
could you do a reveiw on a Gerber AR 3.0
a nice scalpel blade handle 20$ box of 100 blade 10$
save 50$ SWANN MORTON feels nice in the hand,
dont bother with sub 10 $ scalpel handles off ebay there to thin and flimsy.
1st number is how big the blade is and the 2nd is the shape so it will read like number 4 #11. size 4 is a good size, google scalpel shape numbers to see different shapes

+Thomas Moschella Hey Thomas
+Thomas Moschella Go hawks.
+cutlerylover Can you repost the EKT companion gen 2, lets get this out there!!

+MrMetalBurrito its a meme thing on blastphamousehd's channel
cutleryloverits meant to be a skinning knife that knife has one purpose.
360p crew
cool idea but shitty design in my opinnion
I'm calling the Democrat environmental protection agency and tell them you are wasting paper!
Oh so it can be flicked out, well bugger, that makes it illegal here in Australia. God I hate this countries knife laws!
just out of curiousity, what are the weapon laws in general there?

This "knife" is garbage.
it's 20 bucks..
Ham You can get razor blades and exacto knives for less than 5 bucks.
This knife is made for skinning animals. It works great for it's intended purpose.
over here in germany its 50$. and also you may not carry blades that open with one hand AND lock. sooo kinda pointless for me.
cutlerylover its meant to be a skinning knife that knife has one purpose.

double check laws again. there have been some changes and think we can now import one handed opening knives.
Pete Michalski Well I bloody hope so, there are so many knives I'd like to at least try out but haven't been able to.
Pete Michalski Just checked, it appears that you are correct. We can now import flipper knives and one hand opening knives. Still can't have assisted or automatic knives, but it's a start. I am so happy about this.
