I keep uncovering more fabulous gems on this channel! I sing
along with his songs several times a week because he really lifts my mood! I was also a Dr. Demento fan decades ago, and even won a teeshirt on his show. Wish I still had it!
It's wonderful to know there are still other fans of Tom Lehrer still around! I've only met one other fan in real life, and it's great to stumble onto this channel. Thanks for uploading this interview!
@@francisjo3 I’ve barely met any in real life so it’s good to see people enjoy my channel. Thank you so much for watching :)
His greatest gift to humanity is his music-all of which is available on his website. He gave it to us by putting it all in the public domain.
Gawd, this guy was the definition of genius. Modest, good, no GREAT-humored, slyly underplaying his lyrical and piano plying talents like it's no big deal. Then, chucking it when he was done to go teach mathematics at Harvard and MIT, as one does.
Plus taught math and musical theater at UC Santa Cruz.
His comment on Time Magazine is a classic, and right on the mark.
I never heard Teeny Tiny before. I wonder what else I've missed.
I love that in this interview even back then he loved spreading rumors about himself, such as how he got supposedly 'thrown out' of Harvard, or even around the 90's where I heard he was spreading rumors that he had passed. I wonder if it was to give himself a mist of uncertainty and mystery surrounding him to others, or just to keep his privacy? I guess we will never know...
It might be both. He does seem to have a mischievous mind and a preference to be annoying in a classy way. Some people have described him as playing pranks with his harvard friends (but no one mentioned what are those pranks, or even said something to back it up). He definitely is not a straight laced character (the guy created jello-o shots specifically to smuggle alcohol). For his seemingly preference to be a recluse, he seemed pretty damn extroverted.
This song about a teeny tiny Kay Ballarrd which is really worth a listen ... it's really quite denented !!! 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
Nice chat! Thanks for sharing.
Your welcome :)
Great stuff.
Thank you!☺️
"He'll be back next week", was there another Dr.Demento interview of him?
Probably. Just haven’t found it
When was this done?
Most likely around when TomFoolery came out. So the 1980s
@@TLSongsss dr. demento mentions the 20th anniversary cd in the interview, since the show started in 1970 i think that would put this closer to 1990
@@undeadmaruchan2311 My bad! Thank you
