I really enjoyed your trip through Brady. I now live in Katy TX but grew up in Coleman TX. When I would drive back to Coleman I would go through Brady. Just a suggestion; I think people would like to hear commentary from you. Where you were coming from, where your going, any interest thought about truck driving and things like that. It doesn't need to be polished or prepared. Just like you were talking to a friend sitting in the cab with you.
I was born near Brady ,in Melvin ,Texas . My birth certificate is in Brady , I always enjoy seeing things about Brady and Menard, I was raised in Menard until we moved to California.
I was in Melvin in about 2002. I met the postmaster and heard that when the train stopped running through town, the population dropped to 300. Stayed with my friend's mother there and hunkered down when a tornado came through. It killed a man when a 2×4 was driven through him. Heard my first whipporwill singing. The Grandma was waiting for an oil strike on her land.
@@Dwayne-mb2uj Being from Cali, I always was in awe of the Texas drawl. Going through Sherman with an elderly woman, there was a grasshopper abundance, and we pulled unto a service station and there so many smashed on the concrete that it was slick. Wrote a song once about the Texas drawl called When Time Slows Down To A Crawl. "Guess that is why in Texas they speak with a drawl, when time slows down to a crawl". Thanks.
@@ralphowen3367 My Mother was from Brady as a child but then my Grandmother got TB and they moved to Phoenix Arizona until she died and then my Mother moved to Long Beach Ca where my Grandfather drilled oil wells .My Mom Married my Dad from San Angelo Texas and in 1955 my Dad got a job working for Walt Disney and he worked there until he died in his 70s . I was from Orange County Ca until my friends went to an open mike night at the Troubador and I took one look at LA and moved there asap . I did not like the drawl .I went to school and Teachers heard my voice and assumed that I was delayed and had me tested. It was not funny at all.
The most famous person from Brady is General James Earl Rudder, who led the Rangers up Pointe Du Hoc at Normandy on D-Day. He later was president of Texas A&M University.
Thank you, I was also going to comment on the lack of narration and sudden ending with no warning. For those of us not familiar with the town being featured, it could be anywhere, so please tell us what is unique about it.
a year after 911 I was on a road trip through brady and was driving- video taping as I puttered around the downtown. I was stopped at a stop sign near the fire station and some firefighter runs out and asks me why I was taping their downtown . Just doing touristy stuff.... I guess they were a bit jumpy in those parts of TX.
Spooky towns all over America? Watching these videos from overseas where towns are lively and filled with people going about their daily business, I cannot help wondering why these places are so lifeless and empty. Perhaps it is because they are so spread out with 200 yard wide streets where no one walks because you need a car to get to the other side. Or is it perhaps that most folk have up and left to settle elsewhere? Too strange!
Brady is not close to a large city. The young people leave and move to the big cities for work. Small towns have been dying for a long time. Sometimes Walmart super centers will come in and force the mom and pop stores out of business. Small towns started dying in the late sixties.

Nice city. Streets are neat and clean!
Yeah some of them….
Next stop, San Saba. Then Lampasas, Copperas Cove, Fort Hood, and Killeen.😊

You know you’re in a small Texas town if there’s a Dairy Queen. 😂😂😂
One of the many towns in Central Texas calling their town the heart of Texas.
Some may call themselves that but Brady really is. The geographic center of Texas is about 5 miles out of town.
@@alankoemel3168 Thanks.
@@alankoemel3168 Thanks for that, but what is that body of water between Brady and Melvin?
@@ralphowen3367 it’s “officially” Brady Reservoir, but everybody calls it Brady Lake.
Beautiful video
Thank you, for slow enough to sightsee. 😀

People in Texas don't want to be crammed together and ride public transit.
Leave us alone soccer mom
This was Comanche territory up until the late 19th and early 20th centuries. 100’s of miles from any big city.
@@JohnDavis-yz9nqin east Texas it seems like all the towns are growing though, its weird.
No narràtive? Sucks!
