You Know My Name - Code Geass AMV

- Опубликовано: 15 янв 2025
- New for 2009, this Anime Music video features video footage from Code Geass set to the song "You Know My Name" by Chris Cornell, also recognized as the theme song from Casino Royale. This is primarily a straight cut video, punctuated with (a few) smash zooms on dramatic beats. There wasnt any heavily manipulation of the video source. This version of the song was from iTunes, there are several different versions and this is the one I prefer.
The video was created using Final Cut Pro Studio on a MacBook Pro.
The video has been a finalist at Anime Expo, Fanime, AnimeNext & Anime Evolution.
It won "Best Action" at Otakon 2009.
Can we just take a moment to appreciate that this was made in 2009
I know right? Like it'd do good for an anime that is particularly old. (also, it's 2020 now and still remains one of the best anime ever created in my opinion)
yes we are old
Real
@@jacobbelfegor8761 unfortunately you right
The endig still has me by the throat....
i have yet to watch the resurrection, im really saving it for a sad time.
over the years I've heard a lot of criticism concerning code geass, but this amv reminds me that despite everything, it remains one of the greatest animes ever created.
I couldn’t agree more.
SomethingScanning
The Best One ever for me.
Evangelion, traumatizing people forever until they become fans. Maybe it have a geass.
@DrLucifer death note is a depressing clusterfuck full of boring characters while code geass is just badass
@DrLucifer says the guy named lucifer
"I've seen angels fall from blinding heights" to the scene of Euphemia going insane is probably the most fitting and saddening things in this video
"But you yourself are nothing so divine" Suzaku killing his father
That geass sequence was amazing
+Blizzic you know it bob
Yeaaa Ikr one of the best Geass AMV fittings.I've never seen anything like this done before.
yeah, and it's actually a really old one, it's had to be re uploaded 5 times now, because of copyright bitches.
code geass and fmab, which one better
facts.
I love how this amv focused on everyone instead of a solo.
0:43-1:00 "I've seen angels fall from blinding heights, but you yourself are nothing so divine just next in line."
gets me every single time the lyrics for the song fits the visuals fucking perfectly.
This song fits so well overall really. The creator put the scenes with the music perfectly.
Agreed. This part is pure perfection.
This AMV inspired me to watch Code Geass. It's one of the best AMV's I've seen, and it led me to watch one of the best animes I've seen. Complete win and 5/5.
Reminder, if you are alive watch it again
@@supremacy1923 Appreciate it, I think I'll do just that.
@@Thanaduos reminder, watch it again
@@adityar5548 Haha done! Watching it now.
@@Thanaduos Have a good time!
The video content is on rhythm, on theme, and perfectly edited.
The song is perfect.
The video is perfect.
Truly amazing work.
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
@@Kagatoamv Loved it; thanks for making it.
One word: Amazing! Syncing was perfect, song is like it was written for Code Geass, and the selection of scenes were very well-thought-out! Perfect 10/10 in my book!
My book is as simple as it is if it's code geass it's 9/10 it's it is this it's 100/10
This is without a doubt my favorite anime ever and the song strangely works for Lelouch's character.
Now, if only someone has Lelouch's geass to use it to make you forget and rewatch this anime series, both seasons.
+Aztur Seritnok ikr! the ending was spoiled for me before I even watched it 😭
Aerial Night
Did this video really spoil it for you or you chose to let it be spoiled for you? Even though I also knew Lelouch was going to die at the end from the beginning before watching this series, I really wanted to know more about Lelouch as a whole character. Like how he begin to the end of his journey in life. I used to believe spoilers are bad, but it's bad cause we let them be that way and we perceive them the same negative way.
Same here, I started the series knowing how it ended, didn't stop me from enjoying every bit of it xD
Do you really think that he is dead though. First off he could of inherited his fathers code after killing him. If you think about the ending to the film Lelouch transfers his memories to his sister and it is shown only people who have the code can do that. At the ending cut scene it shows the women(sorry forgot her name) riding a hayride looking up to the sky. Now you would assume that she is talking to the dead Lelouch but what if she was talking to the driver of the cart. There was no need for them to hide the face of the driver. They showed faces of hundreds of people even though they were gonna die in a few seconds and never showed again. What if the driver is really Lelouch and he did all of this to make up for everything that he has done and to full fill the promise he made to the women.(sorry for all the spelling and grammar mistakes but you get the point)
This video is so underrated. Daniel Craig's anti hero type and Lord Lelouch suits so well.
“Arm yourself, because no one else here will save you” - shows the Knightmares that, in one way or another, save Lelouch… brilliant!
R.I.P. Chris Cornell (1964 - 2017)
2:07 "I've seen this diamond cut through harder men, and you yourself but if you must pretend, it may be your end."
How the lyrics match up with the scenes perfectly, and how you showcase different knightmares during each chorus.. well done this is fucking awesome
For those who are in 2021, this is still a true masterpiece of the edition ...
This reminds me of just why I love this series. Definitley one of the best Amvs out there. "Yes, I have...destroyed the world...and created...a..new."
After so many years still the best code geass amv and one of the best amv out there.
Damn. I made this comment so long ago.
I remember this is how i discovered the anime through this awesome AMV
Cornell's voice hit's just the right frequencies to totally screw with my thought. Love the music the show and how it goes together, I just had to watch it three times before I could think straight again. It completely blew my mind, cease functioning, blew my mind.
well this just sent me back into a nostalgia trip.
no joke, pretty sure i aw this same AMV as a kid.
single handedly the best code geass amv i have ever seen congrats man this is on a whole different level then the others. (my opinion)
I'm tired of people always comparing Lelouch and Light. Lelouch is better in too many ways for me to list off. Besides, even if you don't agree with me on that, those two don't even have that much in common.
Light was just a child playing a game to be "god" while Lelouch really did all he could to change the world even putting himself at risk and going to the end of it...
I mean, I love Light but you can't seriously compare the two of them...
daninotmyself Thank you.
Shiva I think most compare them in terms of intelligence, how they both are extremely clever and mischievous. They both used "evil" means to obtain their goal, and in the end many people died because of their methods. Of course their end goals were completely different, you have Lelouch which is more of an anti-hero (Or hero, depending on how you see it), and Light which is the same way. He fought against those he deemed evil, and actually was able to make the world a better place. Though his arrogance drove him to madness and his rationality changed. Light and Lelouch are more alike than you may realize.
Nemenon Light did not make the world a better place XD. Also, Lelouch didn't lose, Light did. Light's own personality faults resulted in his own demise, for Lelouch, he WON. Also, Lelouch had several stabilizing forces in his life, Light was a sociopath pursuing an flawed dream of being a god.
Vehement Badger Are you serious? Light stopped all wars, and halted 70% of the worlds crimes. He may have lost in the end, but his impact on the world was far greater than anything Lelouch did. If you don't think a war free and criminal free world is a better place, then clearly you are not the most intelligent of creatures. Oh, and you think Lelouch wasn't a sociopath? He was willing to throw away EVERYONE for his goals, even his little sister. Sure his goal was good, but his means were not. Same goes for Light (though his intentions weren't nearly as pure)
AMVs are a dime a dozen.
THIS is a work of art!
Perfection. I love the James Bond franchise and this is one of the best animes ever made in my opinion.
This AMV is marvelous. + point for having little to no spoiler. Thanks, you're da man !
2:00 You nailed it!
Fun Fact: You Know My Name is supposed to be about M's viewpoint of how she feels about making James Bond a 00 agent, since Casino Royale is about Bond's first mission as a 00 agent.
I've watched this video many times, as it comes up on my recommended often, (probably because I watch it every time it does, lol) but I've never commented on it. There is something just fantastic and perfect about the composition of this AMV.
So often AMV's seem to be made just by putting random scenes in with no forethought or effort into building it up or the video maker gets so focused on matching the lyrics that they destroy the path and flow of the video and it frustrates me. Of course it also makes the gems, like this one, all the more fulfilling and enjoyable to watch. Thank you.
Honestly, most AMVs have one or two parts in them which makes them a good AMV.
This whole AMV is brilliant, not just one or two parts.
This is one of the best Amvs I have ever seen
I swear to god you make some of the best AMVs on the planet...
This anime reached number one on my anime list !
It's my favorite anime !

I saw this at Anime Mid Atlantic, and was blown away. Great editing, really awesome vid. Thanks for putting it out there for us to watch!
This Amv is just amazing.
Possibly the best Code Geass AMV -- or AMV for any anime series -- I've ever seen... Kudos!
maybe its the beer. but this song is awesome with this anime. both the emotion in the lyrics and the clips line up well, some of the transitions even fit the beat with great effect.
allow me to assure you, it's not just the beer
Your video got my vote at Anime Expo 2009, extremely well done. Didn't find any parts boring like most of the AMV's that were shown, Thank you for making this video. 5/5
Love Code Geass!! My favorite Anime ever!! :3
This video got me into this bad ass series, and after watching all of season 1, I can say that this video is amazing. It uses all the right shots to follow the song. Might I add that the song of choice (one of my personal favorite tunes) fits this show perfectly. Well done.

I caught this at A-kon this year, and it was one of the bright spots of the amv contest. Great job
Whenever I see this video, I can't keep from watching it to the end.

It must be Geass

i remember seeing this at otakon years ago and loving it. i'm glad it won that year. so many times people add so many effects and win, i'm glad a more down to earth and basic AMV that relied on more traditional cuts won.
It's so fucking perfect. I've watched this so many times.
You know those AMV's that come to mind when you see or hear the letters "AMV"?
This is one of them.
RIP Chris Cornell
Wow! That was very well done. The lyrics match with the video. That's got to be one of the best Code Geass AMV's i've seen by far. Great job
Anyone else still here?
Still my favorite Code geass amv
This is one of the most amazing amv's I've ever seen. I've never been interested in Code Geass, but you've made me want to watch it.
Ever watch it?
Great use of the song. I didn't think I would see a an amv for a 007 song. Save for Skyfall.
Always goosebumps when watching this one. 00s were amazing time to be an anime fan
*see this video on my favourites* Hey! I've not listened to this is ages... I wonder why?
*Listens* I'd forgotten how awesome it is... And how awesome Code... Oh crap, now I remember...
*Goes off to watch Code Geass back to back till he's seen all of R1 and R2*

I don't know what they did to that VA to make her cry like that... But it hits me right in the feels EVERY TIME.
+Talyn Rahl VA?
+Master Morgoth voice artist/actor. Fancy name for the people who record the voices for anime/games
Editing and timing are top notch. And I have a bias for the song because it makes sense with the video.
Its hard being an international man of mystery going against king and country.
Here is a question I would like to ask fans of this show: The anime is a twist on the giant robot series genre' and a decent one, but do you think the giant robots are even necessary? Could this show still be good or successful (not the same, look at Twilight) if it just had normal soldiers, tanks and planes like a regular if high-tech military in the background instead of mechs on rollerblades?
The action in the series and the tactical recourses that Lelouch would have been able to use would have fallen flat. The show needed to be futuristic in some way. I think it would take away from Code Geass if there weren't any Nightmares. Too many things would have needed to be different. He would have been able to use his Geass more, wouldn't have been able to hide amongst the enemy, which he did multiple times. It's perfect the way it is.
Really? I get the tactically flexibility of humaniod mech suits with their little zip lines, but let's face it: reinforced troops with anti-armor, air support and artillery (the show already proved the Britannians didn't give a damn about collaterial damage) would wreak a half-dozen suits no matter how fast they were. They did show a few hand-held weapons that could damage the lower-tier suits the reels used at first, and only the high-end stuff could withstand a tank round.
I have thought that Lelouch would have actually come across as more of a genius if he could beat the big, nasty Nightmares with just ground troops, traps and excellent tactics. In straight combat, his Geass was useless...it was mainly a stealth tactical device that allowed him to do things behind the scenes. He had to be face to face and within eye-sight to use it...which means no suit. I guess my question stems for the moments when the show goes full-on robo-combat. To me, those are the most boring and generic parts of the show. The real story is how Lelouch is manipulating things behind the scenes...and how that cold-blooded plan of his is tearing him apart.
SignoftheMagi I'll agree with you there. I thought the fights were worth watching because the animation was nice but the real story with Code Geass is the way that Lelouch used his Geass behind the scenes and how that effected the lives of those around him along with his life and the way that he felt with difficult circumstances. The one thing I didn't like about Lelouch was the way that he acted. He 'acted' throughout most of the whole series and didn't seem to show any real emotion unless he was alone in his nightmare. Maybe that's why I like the robots? Even his death was one big 'act'.
Karalea Mann I think in a way the reason he sowed his emotions in private was because he compartmentalized his thoughts so much. "Leelou" the Student, Zero the Rebel, Emperor Lelouch the Despot...all masks and roles to play for the final act: the complete destruction of the monarchy and the restoration of democracy. He was almost always 'on', and when a plan was in motion he had to be focused and in control, the stakes were too high and Lelouch was a control freak. However in the few private moments he had: alone in a Knightmare, his private quarters, in his bed: this is went he could finally let out his fears and frustrations. He completely confided to no one, not even CeeTwo. Lelouch was alone and in terrible pain...and he took it.
SignoftheMagi I agree with you, that was a very nice way to put it too. Poor Lelouch. He had to compartmentalize all of his feelings because he couldn't crack, he couldn't show weakness, not when his enemy held most of the world in the palm of their hand.
Wow. Just... wow.
I'll say first that I don't really like action AMVs much most of the time, though what really bugged me about this is that when showing Knightmares, you can't see anyone's face or expression, which takes away impact. However, the rest of the AMV was amazing, and the action parts were done so well I almost couldn't care.
Great syncing, and you jumped from character to theme to scene smoothly despite the song being fast-paced. Awesome.

gotta be one of the best amvs ive ever seen.

i remmber when i first started to watch this anime i thought it was aload of shit tbh lol but then u watched more and more and u got sucked into the anime and all u see is all the deception the bold brilliant stratigies behind it all the secrecy behind everything well worth watching peeps awesome anime plenty of plots and action :)
In the first episode i was like high school ok and i just finished death note so i wanted another mind challenging anime so i was like meh but carried on and then when i saw the whole susaku won't kill leloouch (still episode 1) i had a feeling i was going to like the anime and it did not disappoint. I saw the name of this and thought that it couldn't possibly be a video with the song I was thinking of... and then it was. Thank you for making this my good sir, you have improved my entire week.
As for actual originality with a amv gotta say that this defiantly wins!
Music flows perfectly with the song and not just with the scenes just with the actual definition and character behind code geass
this is straight up badass and fits this in every shape form and character depiction in this video......EPIC!!!!!!
Dude seriously great AMV. Something about Bond themes and Code Geass just works. Top notch
Great AMV. This song matches Code Geass perfectly.
"I've seen angels fall from blinding heights, but you yourself are nothing so divine."
The imagery there was SO FUCKING PERFECT.
That's an almost perfect mix of human and mecha elements in a story, both in the vid and in the series.
You sir are truly a master of your craft, well done.

an epic choice of song to match an epic series ^_^
