Thank you so much for not cutting out the beginning with the exploding kombucha. I really needed that belly laugh today. This is so relatable and totally something that would happen to me. 😂 Kudos to you for keeping it real. 😁
This was like your best vlog ever. Your face in the beginning - hilarious, the music so chilling, the quiet thoughts in the end wrap it up perfectly. I am going to watch it again now. :)
Please never lose your smile or your giggle/laugh...it's a precious part of every woman that is unique and beautiful❤😊I love when you cook or make things in the kitchen❤I sure wish that we could all be lending a hand at helping build and move you to your new place so you wouldn't have to work so hard...please take care of yourselves❤
Thank you for this beautiful episode. Loved the footage, makes, thoughts, and the kombucha explosion and reaction was priceless. All the best in your move! The time, skills, creative energy, love and memories that are infused into our hand knits is truly sacred and we are so lucky to have knitting
I agree completely with you!! I also think that garments that are handmade have to look like that, they are labors of love, not labors of perfection in my opinion. I don't want my projects to look like something you could buy anywhere else for cheap, I want them to reflect the hours of work they took me to make and time spent choosing every aspect of it to make it personal. If it has an imperfection, then that makes it even more special!
I'm truly having such an amazing time binge watching all of your episodes tonight. All of your knits are so pretty and I love how beautifully you wear them all. 💖💖💖
Your pink knit is so pretty ! Vinted is great and yes when you creates you see things so differently ! Thanks for sharing your beautiful thoughts with us 💗
Lovely crafty vlog Martina. As a Montessori teacher who has also been exposed to Waldorf/Steiner education, it is so important to support and nurture child’s creativity.✨
You want items that have personality and soul. Items that you can feel the care and love that went into their creation. I think in this fast fashion, instant gratification world a lot of the little things like that get lost & forgotten, it then becomes a little journey to seek out those little touches and imperfections and see the beauty in them once more 🥰
My asthma is flaring after a bad infection and I'm not able to ride my bike or go for walks with my friends now for two months. But this is so inspiring and comforting to watch and your Choose your own garden is so inspiring to me! 😍❤️
I have been having a really bad work day but I stopped working and turned on this video and the world is right again. I laughed so hard when the kombucha exploded! I know it was a mess for you but for me it was laughter medicine. Thank you for that ❤❤❤
I really feel the same way about the ”storebought”-thing. It’s the feeling of my knitted garments and where they take my mind when I wear them : to peaceful, creative moments. And also the dignity of taking all that time to knit myself a sweater, it makes me feel sustained❤
Omg the kombucha explosion while youre still fresh out of the shower 😂 also that focaccia looked amaaaaaaazing. Knitting while the scent of bread fills the house is just peak coziness.
i've felt what i think you're describing about imperfect crafts about music for a long time and never met anyone who understood me (especially not in my family who are and have been musical professionals for generations)! it's that i don't see art as a sport, where the most accomplished virtuoso is the most enjoyable to listen to. quite the opposite, many of the songs i love most (paintings too of course) are really 'easy' to play, as in the notes are not hard to remember or hit and the tempo is quite slow too. but the compositions are so powerfully emotional and expressive and - as you say - incredibly unique that it almost makes me cry just to think about it ❤ (an example would be the singer-songwriter 'tiny vipers', for anyone who is interested 😊) and i think this guilt you touched on, about unravelling or 'mis-starting' ptojects i think i totally get too. it's hard for me to let go of a previous idea or plan i had for a make, no matter if it's because of technical complications or lack of motivation/inspiration. it almost feels like the first idea is this brainchild that will be sad about not coming to life or something 😅 at least i have become quite good at not adding the accusation of 'wasted time/energy' to it too. unravelling is part of the process for me and the things i learned will not be unravelled with the yarn 🙏 very beautiful and insightful video, thank you so much for sharing 🌹 (and for the big laugh too of course 😅)
totally agree with your view regarding 'store bought' compliments - handmade items are often better than that, made with more care and intention rather than mass produced, although I understand that people saying that mean well
I Love Handmade Items. I Agree That They Should Be Handmade By Hand... Some People Now Classify Hand Dyed Yarns As Hand Made, But They Are Not. Give Me A Handspun, Hand Dyed Yarn Any Day 😍😍😍 Heart Made!
Beautiful video. My son is 9 and we decided on Waldorf for him. He loves woodworking and I am so grateful he has the chance to explore the craft at school. You are so right that handmade items have such an energy and life in them, its what makes it so beautiful.
Hi Martina. It’s always so nice to sit and knit while watching your channel. Your exploding kombucha was quite funny. Can you tell me what the dried plants you have in the vase? (At the end of the video) They are sooo beautiful.
I think the 'process' is the product. Not sure if that makes any sense.. but, I love your perspective on the idea of being categorized as a process knitter vs. producer of the product knitter. 😻
This is the first video I watch from your channel, what a delight ! I love and can relate to everything you say about handmade object, especially well crafted and made with purpose and intention
Ha, it's the Waldorf vibe that I recognised and loved about you! It's just something you feel and recognise in other people I think. I really enjoy your videos, thank you! And I can't wait for that grow your own garden pattern to release! Looks like it's exactly my cup of tea. Lots of love from the Netherlands ❤
Kombucha! How long did you ferment? I'm brewing now - primary for 5-6 days and an additional 2 in bottle w ginger and a few blueberries about 64F or 18C. Slightly fizzy but not too tangy. Love watching your content, Martina. Thank you for sharing. 💚 The green year!
I usually do an aerobic brew (without the lid) and with the scooby for 7 to 10 days and then I bottle it with the lid and brew it for another 2/3 days and there I add ginger or other flavors 🤎
Hello:) ouh , I remember how one sunny summer day my kombucha blown up, it was mango one, all wall was yellow and near by that art paintings🙈 I have so super small wardrobe, I am now making just some more dresses and knits of course. But over all, if I have something I am wearing it in years.
I live in Maine and Eliot Coleman was my neighbor. We had all bought land from the Nearings and were back to the landers...some of the best years of my life, glad to see you enjoying it also!
I would love to know what pattern you used for the sweater you're wearing 17:00 minutes in! You've also inspired me to make dandelion-infused salve. They grow EVERYWHERE in my region in the springtime, and I love putting them to good use!
Hi Martina, I love the idea of storing my handmade knits with a bag of lavender. How do you make yours? Can you share some ideas, please! Do you harvest the lavender flowers and let them dry on their own? Your channel is gorgeous, when I watch you I feel like we’re having a conversation, like I’ve known you for a long time… thank you for being our friend. ❤
Oh thank you😊 yes, I harvested the blooms and put them in a paper bag or textile bag. Then I just place the bag together with my knits. As simple as that🤎
I love Charles Dowding!! The no dig gardening master! I saw your book by him. Keep the sweater for yourself. You can purchase darker yarn for your sweeties vest!!!❤❤❤
I like to knit items that you won't find in a store and that everyone has. I don't like when people say it 'looks store bought' as to me it loses it's uniqueness. We have put too much time and effort into a piece to reduce to looks store bought. I vote for frogging the new cardi and knit a vest for your partner🤭
Hello Martina, thank you for your lovely's Podcasts. Your knits are so beautyfull. Please let infusions never go to hot, never cooking 40 to 45 celsius are good. Your bread look yammy. ❤
Wow I just discovered your channel and I fell in love immediately ❤ what's the cardigan that you wearing and which you call your absolute favorite garment? Can't wait to binge watch all your videos ❤
Oooh. The bread looks delicious. How did you get the flour swirls around the outside of the boulle? I've had kombucha explode like that. I was so afraid that I started to store it in the tub. Explosive😂 I loved this video. So many interesting topics in this vlog. Love it❤
Thank you for talking about the "it looks store-bought" comment. There are a lot of great things about the knitting community, but there are also some pervasive phrases that, IMO, devalue the craft and the maker. The store-bought comment is one of them, and I've heard so many knitters say this ("I'm really happy with how this turned out, because it looks store-bought!") that I've started to wonder if I should be insulted when someone asks if I made something I'm wearing. Another devaluing phrase is "selfish knitting"... why is it selfish to knit something for yourself? I mean, sure, if you are knitting instead of feeding your kids, then yes. But you shouldn't be working on a gift knit instead of feeding your kids either! (Sorry for the rant. 😬I just wish knitters would stop using both of these phrases.) I really enjoyed your thoughts at the end of the video, as well as the beauty and humor in the rest of it! 🍾
Dont frog your knitting. ❤ From your stash knit your partner a vest as with him working, would he get too hot for a jumper? Sadly I cant drink kombucha as I have a compromised immune system and cant ingest wheat products.
@@ingeleonora-denouden6222 they sell it as 'dandelion' at my local asian supermarket (never saw it anywhere else, big brand or not) and it does have the tooth-shaped leaves and some bitterness, but neither are the stems hollow nor is the sap milky so i very much doubt that it's truly related. but maybe you can find it with that name anyways. good luck 👍
@@ingeleonora-denouden6222 yeah as i say, i only know this one single shop that sells it and never saw it before either 😅 maybe you can order it online though.
