I love looking at Rev2 tier lists because they tend to be pretty wild in terms of difference. The top and bottom 5 are pretty consistent but the meat of that sandwich is so different between top players' opinions.

Pretty much agree with this tier list completely, it's a balanced game except the top and bottom two. I think they went a little bit ham with Zato, although he can win just like Pot, it's a struggle. Shame that we probably won't get a new update.

Meh. The lovingly dubbed “Elphelt downplayers” like myself are just tired of people saying that we never earned our victories ‘cause “eLphELt oP” because they don’t realize that she’s top tier through a lack of bad matchups rather than just stomping half the cast in overwhelmingly good matchups(unlike, say, Third Strike Chun and KoF 13’s Mr. Karate). Like we get it, she’s great. Doesn’t mean ya didn’t get outplayed if ya lost to her. And tbh there are a lot of non top tier characters like Dizzy and Leo who get much more brain dead unearned victories off of the netcode ruining fuzzies, IB’s, and reactions on defense.
All we want is some damned credit for our dubs.

The gap between C and S tier is still super small in comparison to a lot of other games. No character is completely unviable, no matchup is impossible.
I’ve heard the Pot vs Sin matchup is maybe the closest thing to unwinnable for Pot. Otherwise yeah.

Guilty gear is a wierd case when it comes to tier lists, as even some of the worse characters are still somewhat good
A few fighting games are like this now bro, both SC6 and BBTAG 2.0 have low tiers that are strong as hell. Its not really a weird GG thing.

I always like looking at Rev 2 tier lists to see where different characters end up. The bottom 5 and top 5 are pretty consistent, but everything else might as well be randomized. On a personal level, I'm kinda glad that players are starting to see Baiken as a higher-tier pick. I think that a lot of her ways to close space are criminally underrated and her confirms are utterly insane, especially off Azami. Honestly, Raven is the only character I can think of where she has a hard time getting her tools to work and even then, it's a perfectly-winnable matchup. I'm going to agree with a lot of other comments that Sin is a bit low. I don't think he's top 5, but he's certainly top 10. At the time this video was released, his position probably made more sense, given how heavily they nerfed some of his best tools. Now though, I think it's safe to say that the nerfs didn't matter as much as we thought. His combos do utterly insane damage and his neutral tools are still insane. Yes, he's susceptible to pressure, but given how dangerous it is to get that close to him, I don't think it's such a glaring weakness. He doesn't really have any bad matchups, has good tools, some of the game's best damage, and gives plenty of reasons to make the cast afraid of him.
It sucks that I am interested in Rev2 now when Strive is coming out. Dope video it was quite informative.

I am aHumanTheory on Xrd and I remember playing Kizzie as Sin before I knew he did RUclips. Those were some of my favorite match ups, Axl vs. Sin is a blast

I thought it was common knowledge that sin’s most detrimental problem is that at some point he’s gonna need to go back to neutral when most character above him can just continue to pressure

Just started playing the game. Picked up Venom because the dude looks rad as hell.
I have 0 honest-to-God clue how to play him, as I'm brand-ass-new to not only Guilty Gear but fighting games in general besides Super Smash? But I want to learn him! I was told he was hard to play even for people used to this game but still!

The funny part about his Tier list is that the lower ranked Characters have really great MU against the the ones he placed higher XD Sure Faust items let him control the pace but Jackos Shield doesn't respect that notion lol
I loved venom in S tier..... he's my fav character but man I suck with him. hope he's in strive one day.
So i'm gonna expose my scrubiness but you throwing around a lot of terms i dont even know. Character Weight, Hell Fire mode, Win conditions. I mean i understand them intuitively to some degree. Would be awesome if you made another vid delving into the lingo and GG specific mechanics that aren't so apparent. Like when specific characters will get dizzied.
character weight = characters fall at different speeds and can affect combo routes that are possible on that character
hell fire = @ 20% life when returning to neutral (character with 20% life is not in hitstun), that character with 20% life gains extra 20% damage boost to overdrives (supers of the game)
Win condition = All characters in guilty gear do damage to win the round. Some characters need to do something else to win like mix you up repeadetly or in JACK-O's case, level up your minions appropriatley and ammass an army.

Absolutely not. Anyone making gg tier lists are just messing around. An actually accurate gg tier list would be
S: johnny, elph
A: everyone else
B:empty
C: cricket noises
D: strive
tier lists are accurate only for the higher skills levels honestly. potemkin still has tools that will mess you up, its just that his downsides can be exploitable if you have the knowledge and experience.
Tierlist don't matter, its just subject discussed to start conversations/arguments.
I still think player skill plays a huge factor. However, if most players are similar skill the tiers will matter sometimes not all
I played ggxx reload to ac plus never played Johnny but he was one of the best back then aswell I played ino briget testament and dizzy had the dust loops with sol aswell but didn't like him tbh
Pot already looks good in Strive. Hope Zato's strength will be a match for his difficulty.
Pot will suck once people figure out how to play against him. Right now people were jumping when he had meter and trying projectiles at full screen as if FDB and Heavenly Pot Buster weren't buffed.
Pot in general got very cool things, heat knuckle command grab vacumms if you block it, hammerfall and gigante EX cover more space and his game plan didn't change a lot. Also, his new move is very interesting but I couldn't use it a lot.
The biggest problem that I have with Pot in strive is that his hammerfall break is very slow, like, sometimes you fill that is better to do hammerfall and let them block it

Final tier list for me to watch. Gotta say my personal opinion is Kizzie tier lists are pretty well balanced. There's a few standout S tier tier lists, but that's always the case. Really, none of the tier lists drop below B tier. There's no wrong answer about which tier list to choose. And at the end of the day, isn't that what tier lists are all about? Feeling ourselves for liking a thing?

Venom is also the hardest to play in the game. There’s not alot of venom players because of difficulty.
I think he's not what players are looking for in gameplay. People nowadays want to play very fast offense
KizzieKay yea very true, they just button mashing & just DP out of everything when they’re losing but venom’s not that “Yolo” style game play you actually have to be skilled to master venom at high level, he controls space, limits your jump in & he’s more of a disruptor.
Here is a fun personal anecdote:
Learning Johnny: cool setups, high execution, sick combos, a bit of extra resource management
Learning Venom: "what the fuck is spin"

This is painful to see. The GG Strive beta was the first GG game I've ever played, I really enjoyed playing as Zato and since Xrd Rev 2 had a massive PlayStation sale (only being $1.45) I figured I'd take a look at where Zato is on the tier lists whilst the game downloads.
Yikes...
Zato is a lot different in Strive. He uses Eddie to win neutral and get constant Oki. His combos are only consistent in the corner. He felt weak in the Strive beta, but I think after some labbing
he'll be nasty because of how he can open people up. (He will also probably be buffed)
I actually found him really great in the beta. That frog leap attack was great at keeping pressure, but then again, I was only playing with my friends so I don't have the best competitive experience with him.

Na fighterz is still more balanced literally 70 percent of the cast is A tier and up that's really good
Aw man that sucks. Xrd Rev 2 isn't on the Switch to my knowledge, though it's relatively cheap on steam if you have a decent PC that's able to run it. I get that not everyone does though, if you are into Guilty Gear as a whole instead of just Rev 2 though, you could get Guilty Gear XX Accent Core +R on your Switch, it's widely considered the best Guilty Gear game (though I wouldn't recommend it if you just think Xrd looks cool because they are pretty different games).
@@denisn8336 May be more balanced but Fighterz are mostly just the same character over and over while Guilty Gear has more unique characters and more personality in it plus the netcode in Xrd Rev 2 is better than DB Fighterz.
@Jonathan Fakhoury I have played FZ. It's easy to pick up and learn to play because of its IP. Which is why every character feels the same.
I think its interesting the way you made this bc a lot of people evaluate their place on the tl by their matchups and not by the abilities of the character

I really don't understand why they made heat knuckle the way it is in this game. heat knuckle, 6p, and 2s were the lynchpins of his kit in xx and they nerfed all of them to the ground after him being mid tier in +r. I guess they thought the things they gave him in xrd would compensate like trishula and icpm would compensate, but they don't. Honestly if they just made 6p special cancellable and gave him old heat knuckle in strive he'd be nearly perfect.

I like a game with a tier list where majority of characters are A tier. Shows it’s got good balance... till there’s an S tier character, but there will always be 1 in this case 2
Not only does it show good balance, but it also shows the game is most likely more fun. Everyone being A tier is definetely more fun than everybody being D tier.

Baiken got a shitton of buffs in 2.1. The way she changes the pace of a match can absolutely force a bunch of characters to take risks to play their game, and her pressure and damage are for real.

I know it's a little late but here is how I understand it:
It's very closely tied to okizeme, if you know that term, but a little deeper. Where oki is one specific instance of using offensive options as they wake up to create pressure, setplay is more like a combination of these instances forming a kind of flow and gameplan. A good example of setplay would be Ramlethal.
She gets a hard knockdown and puts out a sword or two. That's oki.
She gets a hard knockdown, sets a sword or two, starts pressure that leads into the next hard knockdown where the process then repeats and you're stuck in the blender? That, imo, would be setplay. At least, that's just my scrub take.

Also she is not tier A, her worst matchup is potemkin and that is a 7-3 in favour of pot, kizzie just dont know much about baiken, she loses almost every matchup, she has no range, no speed, no hp/stun resist, but she does have high damage in the corner

So I just bought this game because for the longest time I thought my PC couldn't handle it, and once it was on sale I said fuck it and turns out it can run it, bloody hell
Anyways, I tried playing most characters and so far Potemkin seems to be my main, decided to start watching videos about this and turns out he is the worst character in the game lmao
Sin is definitely not an A- character. If anything he's a C+ character. The calorie meter drains way to fast and without meter you're always in neutral.

Answer is a good character, but he's so wonky that you just never see him. His mixups are pretty potent and he as good normals. He's just really frail and his normals aren't as good as the top tiers, so I think he's in a fine place. I might even personally put him a bit higher, but definitely not outside of B.
