When I first started reading (Later watching) 'Don't Toy With Me Miss Nagatoro' it struck me that it bordered on S&M, As long as they were alone together, Nagatoro would go out of her way to humiliate and dominate Senpai, and he sort of just kept coming back for more. It has turned into one of the more wholesome manga/anime's out there. I have really warmed up to Miss Nagatoro. I think that is why I like it so much, there is an actual journey as well as character development.

Agreed. I just watched this. It was great. Absolutely not ecchi. There really is only one scene where the main male character realizes models change in public during a fashion show. A model explains this fact to him while topless but it is done with a ton of restraint. Everything else about the show is pretty wholesome.

Great series, intriguing storyline, cool melding of science and religion, excellent fight scenes… But as soon as “soma” and the method by which it is acquired comes into play, you’d be wise to wedge yourself into a corner if you’re watching it in public. Especially if you’re watching the uncensored version! Shimoneta is another one I’d add. It’s a surprisingly deep (yes, really) series that muses on the social and psychological effects of focusing purely on chastity and abstinence without a proper sexual education, even with the best of intentions, and mixes in a healthy dose of comedy to soften the seriousness of the subject matter. But explaining the deeper themes of this show to a random person tends to get lost in translation once you get into seal and banana imagery, vibrating pendants, and characters wearing panties on their heads. For the darker side of things, there is Shadow Star Narutaru. This one may look like a cute Pokémon-style anime, buuuuuutttt… Well, let’s just say that Ash and Co will never have this much blood and torture splashed around, and I doubt anybody will get castrated anytime soon.

Don't Toy With Me Miss Nagataro is actually a really good and wholesome anime, the original novel was super bad but the manga and the anime sanitized it a lot to make it a lot more enjoyable, and the great thing is that the character development for both leads is so well done and their relationship is really explored and not just surface level
I have watch 10,9,7,3,2 and would be comfortable watching 7, and 2 with friends (and gave done so),but 10 is a bit more iffy for me to do that. Also 9, and 3 are a no to watch with most if not all my friends.

Not on your list, but I would suggest AD Police Files from 1990... I just thought it was a good science fiction anime until I actually watched it.
What about Highschool DxD? And DanMachi? Were they at least considered for this list?
