Gremlins was beautifully marketed. They refused to let anyone see what they looked like before the opening weekend. The audience I saw it with gasped when Gizmo finally emerged from that box. He was so adorable and funny! Then came the gremlins, who were scary but somehow cute and hilarious. The audience was blown away.
@@RetroMD I think that's why Gremlins made more money in the second weekend than the opening weekend. People who hadn't seen it were like, "Did you see them?" People that'd seen it said, "Yes! You have to go see what they look like!"
@@WaverVr Me too. I like their look when their ears are pinned back, like when the laughing gremlin is driving Fudderman's plow or when he's laughing/growling outside the police car window at the two terrified cops.
Gizmo and the Gremlins will be back soon in the upcoming animated prequel Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai and the upcoming Gremlins 3. Gremlins are going to be animatronic puppets, no CGI.
That's awesome! They SHOULD be animatronic puppets! I've fantasized about writing a Gremlins 3 script for years! Hope they bring the original Billy back. The actor isn't TOO old...
I mean how did this MASTERPIECE not win Oscars for effects? It's GENIUS They spent over 7 MONTHS making it.....that's unheard of in todays CGI movies that dont even look a tenth as good as PUPPETS do in this BRILLIANT XXOXOXOXOXOXOX
Almost forty years after it's release, I finally sat with my twenty year old son to watch "Gremlins" for the first time. He and I laughed with guilty pleasure...
You can't beat practical effects. Physical puppets have amazing life to them. CGI most times does not.
Agreed

Agreed. Nowadays everything is shown in the trailers. Theres no mystery going into movies anymore.

The animated series had such a weird style. I didn't like it. Hope Gremlins 3 is better.

Really weird seeing Howie Mandel with Bobby Generic's voice coming out of him
Sweet cute little precious Gizmo

Nice
9:37 my favorite part is where stripe bites Billy’s hand, almost like a cat that was pet the wrong way
Yea your right
Gizmo rocks!
someone needs to bring back the gremlins!
Agreed
If they were to make a gremlins 3 I would like them to still use puppets insted of cgi
Agreed
