thanks for the update, would be great to put this in front of a Xyla test chart to work out base dynamic range in stills& video modes, good explanation for base ISO shift under quad beyer
They really need to fix the stitching issues before a professional could use this camera. They seem to have no answer for the problem which is strange but maybe they will figure it out.
@@YuqingGuo Yep, that was the first thing I did when I opened my ultra, I switched my lens caps from my QooCam 3 to my QooCam 3 Ultra (AND I still use the pouch). My QooCam 3 has the Ulta's lens protectors now since it is used less often now. I find the flexible lens caps much easier to handle vs the rigid lens protectors and I wish that Kandao would offer the lens caps as an accessory (I thought they did at one time). and I see at Kandao that the QooCam 3 now comes with a pouch and does not show lens caps in the pics. I honestly cannot recall if my QooCam 3 came with the lens caps or if I ordered them as an extra when I bought more batteries, but I do not recall a pouch for my QooCam 3. Anyway I would love to see MORE accessories for the Ultra including lens caps (because I DO want to buy another Ultra or two and I want them to have the flexible lens caps, not the rigid lens protectors). Another accessory I would love, a cage for the Ultra! A metal/aluminum cage with (very secure) mounting option at the bottom AND top so that I could "stack" Ultras on a tripod or stack on my car mount and have the least interference between them, that way I can get 8K 30p AND 4k 120p at the same time. Or I could stack 3 Ultras and also get 5.7k 60p. I love to be spoiled! Say that could be Kandao's marketing catch phrase ... show shots of many users with QooCam and all saying "I love to be spoiled". The ultra is a great camera at a spectacular price. I currently can only stack it on top of my One RS 1-inch cage, but I no longer need my One RS's because the Ultra beats them massively, so I want to stack Ultras. BTW it VERY KIND of Kandao to throw in free lens protectors after orders were placed in the early Ultra production run. That was a very pleasant surprise to see that on the invoice after the order was placed (and prior to delivery). Completely unexpected and greatly appreciated (to know Kandao cares enough to unilaterally help us protect our investment). Hmm, "Kandao cares", that is catchy.
I have years making Virtual Tours with DSLR and a pano head, but I´m tired to do all the workflow that it means. You know the quality is great but a lot of time to get them done. Do you think that this camera can resolve my quality needs for outdoors and indoors panoramas decreasing my worktime? and for the client getting virtual tours acceptable results?
thanks for the post.... just to let you know the Samsung T7 SSD works well as external.... one thing that was confusing at least to me when they released the new app update.... you can open/edit the footage on the phone/app but you can't move the footage into the App media folder so that you can use the special effects page... so you have to shoot on the internal memory then export to the App media folder and it works that way... but not with the external memory... ???
Interesting, why lock at 7? For VFX HDR I would shoot at 100 iso to fast shutter speed to the higher to capture all lights details for the CGI integration well is not bad 100 iso every 2 stops is like 14 stops would be great to 9 to have 21 stops this for CGI is just what we need.
Why should I use dng-8 instead of AEB? Nearly all 360 images suffer from exposure issues of too hot sun etc. and does it make a difference motion / ghostinz wise if I use dng 8 vs aeb with 9 stops?
@@YuqingGuo So AEB always wins? @hughhou made a quick test and said AEB is more motion sensitive e.g. to moving tree leaves or objects. Have you experienced the same thing? I wonder since both take as long to capture so why should DNG8 be better here?
I am very disappointed with the purchase of this Insta360 X4! It is of no use to me for making virtual tours, there is no AEB! It's incredible! When will there be an AEB exposure bracketing option for photos in 3/5/7/9 photos in Raw DNG? To generate really high-quality HDR photos? The poor JPG HDR PureShot cannot be used... It is unacceptable, this option is present on any camera these days and is essential! I have to take series of 5 photos by hand, manually changing the exposure between each shot, what a waste of time and if some elements have moved, clouds for example, it is unusable. I regret my purchase. My old Theta ZI from 2019 which unfortunately gave up the ghost had all these options! She had other faults, my HDR photos were sublime... WHEN WILL THERE BE AN UPDATE TO INTEGRATE AEB???
I have complained on Kandao and Insta360 on AEB shooting Mode. Kandao did a great job this time. Both Kandao and Insta360 should learn from RICOH THETA
@YuqingGuo I did too. They fixed the HDR photo banding, but the feature is useless indoors. They need a new leadership direction that believes in photos too. Way more virtual tours shot daily vs 360 videos.

Excellent!. One question I have. Where did you get the lens caps? I have the lens protectors but have never seen Qoocam lens caps for this camera
those were QooCam 3 Lens Cap
@@YuqingGuo thank you. Do you think Kandao will update the camera for 180 photo mode?

interesting. I think Kandao should take a look at your suggestion
Super helpful video btw, thank you do much! :)
Glad it was helpful!
What program are you using to do the ACR editing?
I keep getting FILE METADATA MISSING. Is it because I'm using the newest version of QooCam Studio 2.8.1.10? I reinstalled Adobe Photoshop and Bridge.

so you need more bracket options like 9/11/13/15 right?
@YuqingGuo well, 9 is a well size. would be great.

AEB captures more Dynamic Range. DNG8 only reduce noise thus improve the dark side Dynamic Range.

Is there any good alternative for camera raw or lightroom? Batch processing is quite important for me...
Maybe lightroom or other HDR software
@@YuqingGuo I meant an alternative to these Adobe products

Cam you shoot AEB handheld with a selfiestick? With dng 8 this is possible
Better not handheld
@@YuqingGuo Yeah sure but I shoot 90% handheld and I want to know if it is better to do regular photo, dng8 or aeb then?

Insta x4 vs qoocam ultra 3?
I think for professional use , qoocam 3 ultra is the absolute winner
@SiamakSadati hm. But for daily use x4 is better for its compact size.
