    This lesson walks you through a beginner/lower intermediate version of the famous Spanish guitar song "Malagueña" that includes the strumming technique called "rasgueo." This is fun to play and the better you get at it, the more you can add to it, as shown in the video and in the second more advanced PDF. At the end of the video the tablature will also be shown on the screen and played to a metronome.

    Whoa, you're a brilliant tutor dude! Superbly explained, highlighting the many potential pitfalls, intelligently deconstructing this classic piece in a manner that a novice could digest. Would love to see a lesson on the middle section too. Any chance you could do a lesson on Paco De Lucia's Entre Dos Aguas please? Thank you for editing and uploading. 👍😊

      Wow thank you for your comment I appreciate that. I will one day do a tutorial for Entre dos Aguas, as well as Moorea by the Gipsy Kings and others, but it will probably happen on my RUclips.com/scottaberguitarist channel

    Nice, comprehensive performance of the song incorporating different flamengo techniques.
    By the way, let me ask a question:
    In thumb - index technique or even with arpegios, what is preferable for the i or m a fingers, touching the strings just right at the exact moment of impact or earlier?

    Another review of Malaguena and I was counting the rasqueo as 16th notes which was wrong. You simplified it by using 1,2 and 3 with I.

  • @williamwhittington7294
    @williamwhittington7294 Год назад +1

    Scot, I am trying to take advantage of my meter drills. To save time I set the metronome slower than I need and practice, strumming with the first finger, then down and up, with chord changes, then rasquedo strums, 4 and three fingered drills, then switch to 8th notes then back to rasquedo. Next comes the tripplet tremolo, then classical tremolo, finally flamenco tremolo. After that I throw in arpeggios at the same tempo.
    I take a break, then play a familiar piece of an unrelated piece, then up the tempo on the meter and repeat the drill.
    What do you think of this attempt?

  • @williamwhittington7294
    @williamwhittington7294 Год назад

    I practiced your Malaguena, and I found that I was not doing the rasqueo properly. I was not returning to the fist and not locking all fingers into proper tension before the release. But I will practice that throughout the day. I have to concentrate, otherwise my fingers go wild and hang out into emptiness. But sometimes I right on target.
    Scot when you are messing up in a certain spot, and you can't seem to get it, is it good practice to leave that piece and return to it later?
