Great video & tutorial! Really appreciate you letting the viewer know each product you used to complete these awesomely, funky cats. I have over 800 LP's (no kidding), so I'm sure I could spare a few of the album jackets. Thanks for the inspiration!
spyralspyder I do use thicker paint, definitely helps. I usually mix in a gel medium too to really thicken things up! Thanks for the note, I'll check out your work too :)
Say it ain't so.. not Earth, Wind, and Fire ;-) ..lol.. but I have to hand it to you you make them look GOOD.. This is so much better than trying to find a board that size. Love Love it :)
Tiff Hop oh thanks!!! I know, it's a bit sacrilegious isn't it and j honest love them!!! I can assure you that the record was destroyed or else I wouldn't have used it I swear!! Plus now it has a whole NEW life, right?! (Right?)
soooooo i guesss we don't have to ask what you think about earth, wind & fire's music now do we!?!?!?!? lol i luv the finished piece...even the melted album errrr ashtray? paper bin?? pot plant??? need i go on? lol. All great. I bought heaps of sharpies & have since found hardly anyone uses them in multi media journaling {trypical} but i'm going to cos i like them plus can't afford to waste them. Do you use them very much karen? i'd be interested to know yr thoughts on them please. :)
Oh no, hahaha! I LOVE Earth Wind and Fire! I buy trashed records from Goodwill for 50 cents that wouldn’t play and are headed for the trash bin! And The reason people don’t use Sharpies is that they’re are alcohol based and alcohol Isn’t friends with acrylics because they eat away at them! I hope that helps! Great question!
@@KarenCampbellArtist ahhh thanku. I've still got my "L"s on with all this so bear with me please. Aren't acrylics alcohol based? Or am i getting mixed up here? Yoou have yr water colour paint then you have yr acrylics which i thought were booze [ooooops i mean alcohol} based. What if in my journal i did a page in acrylics & glued something drawn & coloured with a sharpie on the page? Sharpies as you know go thru paper quickly but do you think that'd be ok? {why am i thinking NO in my mind lol}
Nope! Acrylics are water based and dry permanent. And yes Sharpies on top of paper on top of acrylics is okay but not Sharpies on top of acrylics directly. Here’s a series on my favorite layering method! I think you may find it helpful!! Http://bit.ly/hamburgerseries

@@KarenCampbellArtist ok, thanx very much for that...i'll have a good look at it tomorrow night {bedtime here now - we're going to bed as yr getting up}. Thanku for yr patience & answering my questions...i hope one day to be able to help other newbies out too. That's what it's all about - passing on the knowledge. Og Geez, I love this so much! Now I really need more stuff! More art supplies :-) I'm trying to think of what I have, and if I can just go ahead and try to make something like this. Yeah, the kittys are funky, just the way I love them
Good Morning, Karen :-) Hey, I found a manilla file folder and covered it with some transparent gesso. Now, I'm thinking to stick some papers on, and I'm wondering, does it work to use matte Mod Podge to glue stuff on and cover it, and then can we add acrylic paint on top of the Mod Podge? And even mod podge over everything in the end? Thank you if you are able to answer :-)
I love this SO MUCH!!!♥️♥️♥️

staceybrister I use Matte Medium for all my gluing. I use Mod Podge when I'm all done painting and ready to play with my pens!!!
Ok, I did this. I thought "this should be easy", lol lol lol!
Hope you had fun!
I have two cats like this... my white girl Poncielli and my black boy Karcheturian!
