Hi, I don't stack silver or gold, but do collect the cupro-nickel versions of releases. I completely agree with what you have said in this video, and the RM is just using us coin collectors as cash cows now, and churning out too many collectable coins. Many people can't afford all the new releases, but love to collect commemoratives from their everyday change, but the lack of any going into circulation has diminished since 2018. I have all the Queen's Beast set, and up to date on the Tudor Beasts, however I've just noticed on the recent Royal Proclamation of a £5 coin called the Queen's Panther. I don't think this has anything to do with the Tudor Beasts series, but possibly something to do with Camilla? 🤔 In addition, the Royal Mint Exclusive £5 proof coins are just the same designs, but in different packaging (I got all 4 x 2023's, but refuse to get the 2024's), but those people who live hundreds of miles away have no chance of getting them other than through 3rd parties who charge over the odds for them. Just to end my rant, your coins look fantastic 👍
It's a shame it has gotten to this point. I personal think the mint is going in the wrong directly and is more focused on making as every penny they can rather than given good customer service and products. Even the BU versions are getting crazy expensive, it's just never ending.
I can't say more than this...be very very concerned about the future of the Tudor beasts series.
I hope they don't axe it but won't be surprised if they do 😥
People in the UK do not know how fortunate they are to have a mint that age. Without ruthless business tactics, no business can operate in the UK. The systems are breaking down and dieing in the UK unfortunately. It will likely get worse before it gets better. There are so many expenses and taxes, it is a wonder any business can operate. Let alone a very old one with lots of legacy "junk DNA" and politics.
Constructive criticism is a great thing along the right communication lines. Public perception though, can kill a company dead.
I can't say I wouldn't miss the Royal Mint (and their legacy).
It sounds like they are in trouble with their commemoratives.
Everybody thinks the mint can take this stuff and nobody thinks they need help becasue they are (or were) so great. Great things often fall hard, and unapologetically.
Spiteful, greedy or molevolent things are often scared and weak despite being percieved to be strong and provoking 🤔
I can't imagine how hard it is to run a business these days with the cost of everything going bananas. But as they are over 1100 years old they should know how to make a decent good quality coin and with their recent output it's just not happening. If they cut down on the novelty BS and stick to just being a high quality mint that makes a few decent items I think these would be a lot better. But what do I know

You’re spot on with your comment about the Mint flooding the market (despite the cost of living crisis). I’m not sure I follow your criticism of them intending to bring out a 2nd series of some coins such as Star Wars and James Bond though. My reasoning being that you’re collecting the Tudor Beasts series which is also a sequel of the original Queens Beasts series. Perhaps you see Star Wars and James Bond as novelty collections when compared to the Tudor Beasts? All down to personal taste I suppose.
I take your point, I just thought that the star wars and James bond were going to be a one series thing. Think realising tranche after tranche just detracts from the first series and is a way for the mint to get more money out of those who had the first set.
@@the_islandstackerOh yes. Fair comment. I saw this not long after I first started collecting BU then silver proof coins. We had the 1st Peter Rabbit series in 2016, followed by more in 2017 etc. Peter Rabbit was still making appearances on 2018 and 2019 coins from memory, by which time I’d stopped collecting them and moved to gold.

And William is becoming unpopular too, the reason most people believe he has murdered his wife. And the Hatred towards his brother and his wife, makes them very unpopular. When people look at the coin, and the design William and Charles are not popular, it has a bad Omen, A lot of Collector only want the Queen and Not Charles and William. Harry and Megan would make a better Coin, it would appeal to more people, regardless of their History. If they came up with a Harry and Megan Coin would sell out in a day, it has a History. The most expensive Coin is the King that gave up the throne for Mrs Simpson. If a Megan and Harry Coin came out I would buy it, it would have history and a story.
People do generally like the other royals less now that the queen is no longer around. But they are here and don't think it will change anytime soon I guess till we get round to George.

I was hopin for the 2 oz dragon and panther. I got the other 4 but im not willin to pay for proof versions.

I only collect the silver 2oz bullion coin range (same as your gold coins) which are already 2 coins behind the silver proof range and thats annoying enough as it is.
I really hope they don't axe the series but like you said, wouldn't be surprised if they did 😤
The wonky timelines are annoying. But with that email I think we should be ok for this series 🤞🤞
Fingers crossed. I'm definitely not getting into another Royal Mint series once it's done

Totally agree with everything you have said and I fear the same on the Tudor beasts
I have bought all the gold 1oz and 1/4oz and in silver I have several of each of the 10oz 1oz and proofs
If they stop them I will be very unhappy and I too would stop buying from them

That would be a shame as you seem to have a spent a great deal on the series. Fingers crossed it doesn't get binned off. Doesn't really give us collector's/stackers much of an option for buying metals though.

Royal Mint need to get it together. Many collectors who bought the quarter ounce Queens Beast set were left out of joint when no "completer" coin for that size set was produced. I hope the Tudor Beast series is not cancelled as it will leave people in hand with only bullion value coins. It seems apparent the Royal Mint do not want to produce coins anymore; they seem to be producing "newspaper" coin sets for collectors of dubious quality in plush boxes, you are correct its all about profits and not leaving collectors with a viable investment. Often these sets are three to four times higher than the actual coins worth, collectors will prorable never recoup the value of their purchase.
Agree I wish I could have had the completer in the quarter size, but not sure if the design would compress well on a coin that size.
They seem to be trying to compete with Westminster collection in the novelty coin market rather than producing quality coins that can serve as an investment.
This is why I stopped buying silver proofs as they are now 5 times the metal value and of dub standard quality most of the time.
Guess we will just have to watch this space.
Maybe they can't get it together under the current circumstances in the UK. Just made a big investment in recycling plant etc... Maybe they are struggling with this part of their business. Not used to the competition 🤔. What does their companys house book keeping look like? They seem very silent on everything... they have always been like that though 🤔
Dieing birds are the same. They hide their illness until you wake up one day and they are gone. Never know until it is too 🫥
@@browpetj I think if you look at their records they have been making a decent profile ripping us all off for the last few years 😅. I don't think it would ever disappear as it's part of the UK heritage but who knows 🤷
I hope they at least make the Tudor Panther and Dragon in BU. Can't afford the proofs.

@@the_islandstacker I have the Lion, Yale, Bull and Unicorn. But for future collectors it's a shame. I think the series is great, it shows the transition of the throne the Queen then King and I like the hologram background on them.

I will say this as far as frivolous coin releases. I think its beneath the dignity of a mint of a soveriegn country to make coinage of popular culture.
They need to stop all the film and music themed stuff and concentrate on stuff like the sovereign and Britannia

Yes, it's super irrelevant. Especially when it's days away. It's yourube, I don't order my life around tv schedules, I watch when I'm ready. And I go through my sub feed regularly, so don't tend to miss things
The hr notification shows up for alot of channels I dont search for and watch regularly, shows up while scrolling.
It stands to reason that if it is showing up on ppls feeds that dont regularly watch the channel it should bring more exposure to the channel.
Anything that brings more exposure with mild discomfort to regular viewers is a good thing.
Its like people that use ad blockers and say they are supporting the channel. They are not really supporting it at all and jsut want free content ha ha ha ha 😂

Way way too many "special" releases and crazy premiums.
Their premiums are ridiculous. Who the hell pays 200+ for 2 ounces of silver which will milkspot shortly after making them worth bullion? They should take an example from the Perth Mint. They produce quality coins with minimal premiums.
I personaly only buy sovs from the RM as they are popular here and easy to sell.

I stopped watching BYB about a year ago. Got sick of his complaining in every video about the RM and every other episode he would display (ads?) new releases from the RM.
Definitely too many special releases and releases in general, it's a new coin every other day it seems!
Like you say the premiums are crazy compared to the metal value, why I stick to gold.
Royal Mint premiums are nothing compared to US Mint premiums. I hope they never become as insane as our Mint over here across the pond.
The Tudor beasts is not a beautiful series ....the Queens beasts were by far better designs.
