    Hi Gena I have high porosity hair but it’s very coarse textured naturally and extremely protein sensitive. I need maximum moisture with just a little protein and experience flash drying even with conditioner or masks if they have protein 😢. I’ve struggled for ages to find styling products that I really love and have a whole cabinet of fails or meh products 😢. I finally stumbled onto something that works really really well for me🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉and it’s the Camille rose butter gel. I had previously tried the much more popular curl maker which was very meh for me, but bought the butter gel on clearance to try - oh my soft silky defined curls that refresh easily and don’t look dry/frizzy within a couple of days🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉. I use a leave in conditioner underneath (as I do with everything), but otherwise it works as a single step styler. I’m so pleased with it. I live in Scotland and it’s really humid in Summer (80 to 95% humidity) and then very low humidity the rest of the year (cold, wet and windy mostly so lots of central heating). I hope it works well in the colder months too, but I’m hopeful. Best wishes x

      Try different types of proteins, and amounts, and step.
      I'm high porosity too and I can't stand some proteins like Quinoa, wheat, sometimes rice,,, but now I now animal collagen, keratin and just a little of others will do perfect😊

    Perfect timing on this video for me! I have low porosity, dense, medium texture hair. I need a shampoo bc I've been cowashing. I bought v&Co wavy wavy wavy and just realized both that shampoo and my cake curl cream have proteins. Is that too much protein for my hair type? I've been trying to find the answer for 2 days now with no luck 😔

    • @GenaMarie
      @GenaMarie  2 месяца назад +1

      It may be too much protein but you can always try and see how it goes since you've already bought them. The V&Co shampoo and conditioner are wonderful and have peptides which are suitable for all, even low porosity. The wavy version does have an added protein though so I would have that be the only proteins in your routine then use protein-free stylers if you're worried about it. Watch for a brittle or stiff feeling in your hair.

    I have a low-porosity hair conundrum that I'd REALLY appreciate some help with: My husband's hair (long, curly, thick, coarse) is very much low-porosity and seemingly refuses to be moisturized. Yesterday, he used regular conditioner followed by a deep conditioner, and both times he rinsed his hair, it felt just has rough as it did before the conditoners. He has tons of wet frizz which leads to constant tangling and no curl clumps. All of his products are low/no protein, and he's good about clarifying every other week. Brushing and styling helps, but I'm mystified by all these low-porosity videos where girls have stunning, shiny, slippery curl clumps post-conditioning.
    I'm guessing the answer is heat? We haven't tried a heat cap or anything, so that's my next step. But boy god would I appreciate some advice; we're so tired of wasting time and money on products that don't work 😭

    I am the only one here who has no idea what is being talked about. I have extremely fine hair that gets semi-wet, so when I first put in my shampoo and wash it out, there are still parts of my hair that aren’t fully wet. I need to shampoo again to make sure every strand is soaked and shampooed correctly. My hair dries extremely fast and gets frizzy. I am so lost. 😞

    I just found your channel and I’m addicted, but I do have a question for you. Have you ever tried any products from a hair company named Miss Jessie’s? You can usually find it at CVS or Rite Aid. I have made so many mistakes when curling my hair, but you have helped me tremendously! I am addicted to Miss Jessie’s. Just putting the product in my hair makes it curl right away, but the mistakes I kept making before I started watching your videos-putting it on my ends which are extremely fine and see-through, instead of starting at the crown, and all the other techniques you’ve taught through your videos that I didn’t do-were holding me back. I would just love to know if you would try one of her products. The one I use is the original with the green label called “Quick Curls.” Her line became quite popular and has now released, I believe, over 15 different types of gels and conditioners. They’re amazing as well. I have started seeing them at Target and Walmart, but there they tend to be $15, which surprises me. However, they have all been rated five stars, so maybe the company has upped their game? Anyway, if you do try it, i’ll be on the edge of my seat to hear how it worked out for you!
    Sincerely,
    An extremely grateful fan of your videos!

      Yeah if you damage it w bleach, coloring, etc.

    • @GenaMarie
      @GenaMarie  2 месяца назад +2

      Yes by damaging the cuticle with things like bleach. High pH shampoos can also raise your cuticle to deeply cleanse and increase absorption

      These are drugstore-priced products, each about $10-12. It’s hard to find products for a full routine that work well that cost less than that. I feature lots of different products so that there’s someone to fit everyone with different needs. There’s not one specific brand that will just work well for everyone.
