Ben Willibond was playing an HHTV roving reporter and then minutes later he was on stage as George I. Matthew Baynton was shown arriving as Charles II and then minutes later was on stage as George II. Then he was back as Charles II again so that was a quick costume change. The first on after the four Georges was Jim Howick as Richard III.
@@petesampras9613 When he changed from George IV to Richard III there was a dance performance inbetween so he would have been changing just inside the backstage area and would have been assisted by a dresser. They change into their first costumes in their dressing rooms and then during the performance into their second and subsequent costumes in the area just behind the stage curtains. The segment showing both George III and George IV in their dressing room would have been pre-recorded. Same with Queen Victoria watching from a royal box and being served by a butler played by Simon Farnaby. Plus Ben Willibond playing the reporter outside. The Grim Reaper, also played by Simon Farnaby, would have involved putting on that make up as well which is why Stupid Deaths was on after Richard III, Henry VIII and Charles II as he was also George III.
George III reappears again when George IV is singing his solo and then it's the Grim Reaper again. I think someone else might have been playing the Grim Reaper again when he appears the second time or its pre-recorded.

I wondered how he got his make up on and off so quickly. Matthew Bainton didn't have to do much changing to go from caveman to Viking. The hair and facial hair were the same.
It was George III who lost the USA though. He achieved a lot and had 16 children but there were times when he wasn't productive at all because of being bipolar.

Supervideoguy Yeah- in the show they use actual makeup (which changed between Seasons 1 and 2), and here for convenience they use a mask.
Death is a mask. Simon is not fond of too much time in make up...you can see the the mask has a hole for his nose which is painted black....
I wondered how he got his make up on and off so quickly. Matthew Bainton didn't have to do much changing to go from caveman to Viking. The hair and facial hair were the same.
LOVE the childrens choir!! IT adds a LOT.
I just love that the Paleolithic song is in the style of early rock. EARLY ROCK. PERFECTION.
I think my fav Horrible Histories character representation has to be Charles II =)
Rebecca Russ
The Colonel Blood episode pretty much exemplifies everything great about him.
"Can I wear a wig?"
"You already are, sire"
"... So I am."
We did it boys, after 11 years the HH prom has reached 1 million views
Rewatching this to prepare for Ghosts and I just - are we sure early man isn't just Robin back at it again?
No.
let's be honest. There are three sorts of watchers: people being here for bob ( like me), for matt or for the music :-)
I ment bob hale, and I'm here for the music too though
I'm mostly for Jim Howick
for Jim!
music
I'm here for all the actors/their characters AND the music!
God I really enjoyed this, what a treat. An hour of fun, entertainment and education. Awesome stuff. That Viking finalé was epic.
Gorge 3 and 4 were funny
Alicultivated poop
Alicultivated poop
Alicultivated I was there but I was only 3
Skye and jack The fletcher Hills same!!! :)
I love how these songs took kings who did barely anything and turned them into legends especially
Charles II and George IV
It was George III who lost the USA though. He achieved a lot and had 16 children but there were times when he wasn't productive at all because of being bipolar.
Matt : *exists*
Gen z: *dies in love*
I'm 18 and I remember watching HH all the time growing up and this was one of those things I watched over and over as a child, I also knew and still know all of the lyrics to all of the songs 💙💙💙
ha ha i love George the third "i'm a kangaroo" "i'm a cupcake" lol
i am a kangaroo
Banana
I regret this so much. Thank you all for participating.
The quality of the music in this is actually fantastic.
"I'm the bad one ;)"
*swoons*
You and me both sister 😂😍
The British being gloriously, utterly and completely bonkers. God I love my country
I can't even imagine how fast mat had to change costume from caveman to Viking

Matthew Baynton my god..😩
lolz XD
KatyLou70 his "I was the bad one" winks and bites his lip!
The nostalgia hit me so hard when I found this
Charles saying "there's queen victoria, she's a fox, and single." is an interesting line, considering they were first cousins 5 times removed.
I’ll remind you inbreeding is nothing new to royals
Just ask the hapsbergs
When did THAT ever stop any of them?! 😂
@@mamavswild True. Victoria and Albert were first cousins!
Okay but the fact Jim can go so high in other songs (not in this prom unfortunately) is actually amazing, he's literally so talented. Same w/ the other main singers!!
''And i was the bad one'' *winks* ( i swear i just couldn't )
same
+ the lip bite
Fun way to learn history...Love this show...
Charles the 2nd Matt Baynton lip bit and wink tho 😍👌
Can't quite get over how good a singer Jim is.
I was lucky enough to see this live, it still amazes me a couple of years on. So sad the original show got canceled😭😭
Why did it get canceled? I never found that out x
seven epic gymnasts I think it was because the cast were focusing on other things, like yonderland and also i heard there was a shakespeare film happening..
Didn't get cancelled; they ended it. It's getting a reboot with half the original cast later on :>
Tara Louise Thanks!
+Relda Goodwin The film is called Bill, it's sooooo funny and Matt is dressed as a tomato at one point and Jim as a Cucumber 😂
My 15 year old self has decided this is what I'm watching today for the 100th time
Richard the 3rd : Screams at a random lady. DO I LOOK LIKE A BADDIE LUV
i love jim sm
No matter how many times i watch it always great entertainment . Do miss the original cast
im here for dear bobsie and death. i forgot how funny this was
let's be honest, mat performs great ALL the time, and Jim perfomed his Richard song so good, and I normally hate it! His "excuse me"
Richard III was already done dirty enough, how can you hate in his song, which is a classic BOP.
i fkn love richard 3rd song
Love Jim & Richard III
I really liked the old cast they were awesome and I am looking forward to watching horrible histories as it is great
I love how much FANGIRLING there is in the comments and in the audience :3
i can,t help thinking that they get some of their inspiration from Blackadder and Monty Python
Some of their songs are based on Monty Python, which is probably why they're so funny!
i read somewhere that when they were first starting off they showed some Blackadder and Monty Python sketches as a guide for what they were aiming for, and continued to take inspiration from them.
@@lm-il8ou I mentioned to my sister they had to have some MP influence in there. Here in America we are familiar with MP more than anything else
And me too. Also Comic Strip and Carry On and like them go on to do similar things in the same team.
Matt: You don’t want to see someone being beheaded, do you children?
Kids: YEAH!
Mat: ...Right well you’re _weird,_ some of you...
oh to be called weird by Mat Bayton
kinda jealous
@@leahpowell2969 Oh I’m very jealous
I would die to see mat baynton perform The Viking song - Literally
same or any mat song
I love this so much! :) (Mat and Ben are so hot oh my lord
In the original episode the part about Ben dying on the loo wasn't true so they swapped the line for it to be more accu-rat :)
I guess before they got some of the facts mixed up so they fixed it now
I realised this and have been looking for comments about it! Also can confirm - the other reply is right :) I looked it up
There is something about Simon that does it for me. Matt and Ben are adorable too but Simon has a hot bod 🤣
26:34 to replay the audience participation gone "wrong"
Jim's voice is just amazing!!!
Just hearing a classical version of the theme just makes me cry😭😭💓💓💓
I remember watching this when it aired in 2011, before I even really had an interest in performing. I thought “I want to sing in this event at this venue someday”. In 2017, I made my BBC Proms debut at the Royal Albert Hall. I didn't realise it was the Proms/RAH until afterwards but never give up on your dreams.
"I was the bad one" (wink) all women out there, aw swoon! :)
Ah yes my favorite kings the sad one, the bad one, the mad one, and the fat one
This is my childhood in one video and I have to admit I cried
George iv: *finally entering the pearly gates of heaven* "ah finally, heaven at last"
George iii: *sticking his head out of the bars with a huge smile on his face* "GEORGIE, YOU HAVE TO SEE THE PEAKOCKS THEY HAVE HERE, ALSO YOU NEED TO EAT LESS
George iv: NOooOOoOOoooO *sprints to hell*
Thank you for curing my art block, kind stranger.
Ah, it wouldn't be Horrible Histories without Stupid Deaths
Or Shouty Man
@@loggingfire1 "Hi! I'm a Shouty Man!"
33:15 why did my heart melt?? “I’m a cupcake” 😭💜
45:56 - Does anyone else see the conductor look back?
Like he was actually worried about Simon for real?
Then the thumbs up at 46:56 - very funny. I shall miss HH
I never knew this existed until it just popped up on my feed. I'm a GCSE History student who watches HH at school for information retention purposes and it is so good.
basically my life in 1 hour 1 miniute and 5 seconds
Yes
I agree
Lilly-May Coates Oh, so your life is Horrible History? Lol
10 years later and it's still just as awesome.
My sister was lucky enough to be able to play the violin here and I wasn't aloud coz I'm only grade 3 and she's grade 7 so unfair! But it was good to watch xx
I got to sing instead tho! I'm one of the red people x
+seven epic gymnasts DON WORRY BE HAPPY
Thanks!
@@Juliastoreyx that's so cool
That is amazing
I'm 27 and I love to watch this show :D
Crying laughing at the Shouty Man sketch at the interval. LMAO
is it bad that i was getting emotional thro this
No :D
Cloudbushting
What?
Lydia Seymour Absolutely not!
Emily Shadick yeah! Especially with the Richard the third
Poor 11 year old me was gutted when I didn't get tickets 😭😂
I loved it when Matt said "The bad one!" and winked, I nearly fainted!
This show and series is adorable and hilarious :) I don't think any other TV show ever made me laugh harder!
yea same
elsa1942 Yonderland!
elsa1942 + makes history fun and easy to remember. .and I think most parents enjoy it more than their kids because of the odd adult jokes in.
*puts hand up* Here watching this in 2021, still absolutely loving HH at 41! Mostly here for Jim, but love Mat too.
