I rented one in 2004 when I was on vacation in California, we drove it from San Francisco to the Napa Valley then back down the Pacific Coast highway to San Francisco. I really liked it, it was roomy and comfortable.
Once you turn on your navigation, it'll display where the Chrysler logo shows up. If you don't turn the navigation on, it'll just stay blank like that.
When I drove a cab, I was in one of these and loved it! It was a really solid vehicle that hit over 360K miles before something happened with the engine. But even then, they were able to fix it, and I see it driving around every now and then since it was retired.
that chrysler is fully loaded. epic win!! doumb ass "tech" musta been a nissan tech lmao. i rember the gps map is supposed to come on after the chrysler logo on the pop up display.. mabe it needs the gps dvd in the dvdplayer..
I have one of these myself and absolutely love it. When I was a travelling salesman it got me through northern Iowa and southern Minnesota during the dead of winter.
I had an '04 that suffered a broken timing belt which bent a valve. Up to that point, at 235,000 miles, it still got 23.5 on the highway, didn't burn oil and the trans was solid. Didn't want it when I bought it but it grew on me and I really did t want to get rid of it but...bent valve.
My dad owned one of these, this sure was an awesome car. Me and my sister used to sit in the back and watch DVDs on the built-in player during long trips or vacation. Good times. :,) He bought it in 2003 and drove it until 2015, for a solid 12 years. I have so many memories in that car... It was an awesome ride and we never experienced any severe problems with it, except of some broken headlights in its last year of use.
This brings memories back. My family had a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica AWD when they first released in the US Market. Because trim levels didn't exist yet, we essentially got a model that would be considered the Limited in today's market. To see this thing run makes me happy. These were amazing cars brand new, and awesome snow vehicles. The central cluster normally is home to the GPS system. If the screen goes black after the Chrysler logo, you may wanna see if the DVD ROM drive is the problem. The DVD ROM drive is located in the back hatch under a secondary hatch well behind some carpeting. If there is no DVD in the drive, you could find a 2nd hand one for hopefully cheap. The GPS location also made these cars amazing. Super safe too.
Not real sure why ppl would bad mouth the Pacifica. I have own at least 100 different cars makes models whatever and my 2008 Pacifica would have to be in my top 5 favs. Mine has 98K miles without a problem until recently the motor mounts failed ...a common occurrence for this auto. You save a gem
When my kids were small I had the Chrysler town & country and also the dodge grand caravan, both were awesome vehicles, I don't know why anyone would call then crap. That Pacifica looks really nice, congrats
I bought one of these (2006) in 2012 with 47,000 miles, 3.5 V6. Absolutely trouble-free car except for the AC evaporator going bad. It was base trim but with leather and tinted windows which was awesome, very comfortable Benz-like seats too. At 158,000 the transmission started to sound funky so I traded it in.
Every car has its ups and downs. I love my Lincolns and Mercurys but some people are Cadillac people and wouldn't touch a Lincoln. Personally i d rather have a Lincoln anyday...but that's personal preference. ..doesn't mean I'm going to sit here and call Cadillac garbage...cause it's not. People need to get off their high horse and calling cars they don't like garbage..or the worst..or this or that. It all depends on how they are taken care of.
Completely agree. I've always been a Ford guy, but there are reasons that there are other vehicle brands on the road. They are good too! No car is perfect, but the vast majority of cars are good.
I'm aware of Chryler's reputation nowadays, but in my book, any "garbage-mobile" that looks and runs that well at 179k deserves a second chance! You're doing a good work Jay (along with all your buddies)! I wish more auto scrappers had a heart like you to save old cars if they can be saved. The same goes for that white '99 Toyota Solara convertible, and many other cars you have featured. Too many car scrappers don't give a rip and just want to make a fast buck from scrapping them right away, or only seem to make a minimum cursory effort of advertising it on the internet, then crushing it on RUclips, saying, "we gave you all a chance to save it, so don't bitch when we crush it!". That's what happened to one RUNNING unwrecked 1959 Buick. BTW, that video got DISSED BIGTIME in the comments (including from me).
I love Chrysler products, we own our third grand caravan, trouble free, our 2005 grand caravan was trouble free all the way to 290,000 miles, we sold it when we bought our Grand Caravan R/T. I wouldn't give you a nickel for a barn full of GM trucks, our 1 ton dually is nothing but trouble, and it rusts to shits just standing in the garage.
I dont doubt it. I dont know about Cryslers, but my dad owned many GMs (Kadett, Astra, Zafira and Vectra, in that order) and though he loved those cars, and the Kadett and Zafira were pretty damm reliable, he didnt really get to enjoy the other ones. He hidrolocked the Astra in a flood (his fault) and the Vectras automatic transmission blew up. At 50.000 KM (some 20-30.000 miles). He then promissed he'd never buy GM again.
I HATE Chrysler products. 90s stuff was alright, but mid-2000s was HORRID. My mom's Dodge Caliber lasted a good 40K miles before it was junk. (laden with huge expensive problems) Meanwhile, my grandma's Saturn has 70-80K miles and never had any major problems.
Yea all of our GM products let us down! Brand new trail blazer lost its transfer case in its fist year, our Impala kept seizing brake calipers, and burned oil since day 1! I have owned Chryslers, jeeps, and dodges since the 90s till present and they have been great to me! Especially my dodge yea tucks
In our family we have two GMC trucks from 1997 and they're still running, they haven't gave us any problems and there's no rust in them at all. Our Ram trucks (2005 & 2013) have been great also. Our Ford F150, Crown Victoria, Expedition and my uncle's Windstar all had problems, if it wasn't the tranny it was some electrical issue or something else, but they were always failing...
Our 2003 GMC Sierra Crew Cab Duramax is still going strong, 250,000 mi trouble free. My dad still daily drives it, as well as an immaculate 2004 Toyota Solara Hard top.
I’ve always been a Chrysler and GM fan. We have 2 Jeeps and a Buick. My grandmother has a 2005 Grand Caravan. It still runs good. We used to have a 2012 Grand Caravan. The control arms were a common failure point on these Pacificas. I’m not talking about the Fiat badged Chrysler Pacifica, either. I know someone who’s daughter had one, and it had a bad control arm.
Its hilarious. This Pacifica is arguably one of the first domestic crossovers. Now the Chrysler brand is struggling to be relevant, when they were one of the first brands to enter one of the hottest segments of the current market.
I have had no serious problems with the Chrysler's I have owned. They have relatively simple engine control computers and I do most of the work on mine myself. The aftermarket is full of inexpensive parts to fix them and as long as you buy good parts you can easily get your money back and more out of these cars.
Yea ive bought dodge rams when they thought the motor was bad it was just a worn out water pump making a bad noise from the pump and they thought it was the engine other words it was a cheap fix truck made no noises after pump was replaced.
I wish your junkyard was the one my School sent its car's to after they were done with them, we would have put the 68 mile Mercury Villager up for scrap if we knew you woulda saved it lol
Grow up in this model. It’s way better still til this day. If I ever find one I’ll buy it for sure. Don’t really care for the Van’s they’ve turned it into. But I love these older models…
I know this video is several years old, but it sounds to me like that dealership was trying to screw whoever owned this car in the first place. That is one of the quietest Chrysler vehicles I’ve ever heard.
Chrysler's are reliable and last along time... They just have a bad reputation by non Chrysler owners,or the people that owned them and never maintained them will complain at 180,000 miles that it needs minor work ! Well,I own a used car lot and I will tell you I see 120,000 mile Honda's and Toyota's with $10,000 in receipts for work done to them..Then I get a Chrysler with 120,000 miles and all they did ever was oil and a brake job ! All vehicles have water pump, timing belt, control arm, bushing issues today..Well,the majority of them..Thanks for the sealed suspension front end parts with no grease nipples !
Hey Jay Smart, I know this may be a little strange but please, read on. My girlfriend and I just moved down here to the Spartanburg area from Maryland a few months ago. One day we were out at our local Wally world, was trying to pick up some rad flush for my 88 XJ I've been working on restoring. As we drove through the parking lot we saw a very distinct looking XJ that had been chopped into a truck. Had a speaker that looked zip-tied on, on the rear left side. I thought nothing of it other then "that's pretty cool" and went about my day. Then I was watching some of your videos the other day and you won't believe how shocked I was to discover that very same truck-chopped XJ. From what I can see in your video it HAS to be the same one. Especially considering that was the first truck XJ I've seen in my life. Please, tell me that was you! If so, I'd love to meet up sometime and talk XJ's or just shoot the shit. I haven't made any friends since we've been here and it seems like we both have similar interests. Hell, maybe we could go scrapyard diving for XJ parts.
Not sure about the Pacificas but the minivans are usually good for at least 300k miles with the exception of weak transmissions on certain model years. If these last as long as the minivans then it'd be a great bargain for someone on a budget. Those engines have plenty of power.
I had an '05 Pacifica, great car when I bought it had 28K on the odometer when I traded it in form my '07 Dodge Ram 4X4 Quad Cab it had 72K on the odometer and I got exactly what I paid for it. Honestly I do miss that car, it was light blue with a grey leather interior. Guess I should mention that I spent a lot of time between Ohio and Virginia and Florida in the year and change that i owned it
Give it at nice wash, and get those headlights fixed at home. Chrisfix got a headlight restore video on how to do so, and it will make it look good ✌🏻💪🏻 You can do it at home. Chrisfix does how to car videos, and can help you alot.
Good deal, these do have a pretty high resale value as people want them and they are reliable.. I have GM/Ford/VW/Honda/Toyota/Nissan with the same mileage and they needed the same type of repairs or even more than the Chrysler products needed.. People bash Chrysler because alot are jealous of the powerful cars they made in the 50's,60's 70's and even today.. Plus GM/Ford and Toyota guys hate the fact their car uses a Chrysler HEMI in Top Fuel , Top Alcohol,Funny car and Drag Racing, that really gets to them !! Since 1992 The Viper dominated performance and road courses then the Hemi cars came out again and destroyed everything... Thus GM/Ford guys bash Chrysler and most Import buyers bash them and anything American as being unreliable, yet they own more problematic vehicles. I find that people bash them and never owned them...The majority of people never had a problem with them but never come out and tell people, more conservative I guess.
*hell of a score on that one. hell yeah man throw a good clean up on that one and buff the headlights out good wax job and put that sucker up for sale if you got the title for it no reason in the world you shouldn't be able to tripple your money for it, all day long*
Someone donated a boat to a charity that had a worn out single cylinder diesel, a mechanic determined this by checking the compression and looking at how old the engine was. The cost to replace was higher then the value of the boat, so it got donated, who would buy it? Turns out the exhaust valve was stuck open, you could hear it if you put your ear up to the air cleaner and cranked it. A good smack with a block of wood and it runs like new. The engine was recently rebuilt. It is a new engine. Some needs a career I'd suggest diesel mechanic. Bad diagnostic by a lazy mechanic is common.
I would abought. But being 10 months too late. Damn the luck. Nice auto for 500.00 into it. Score on selling it. Great job.. ( yeah this was years ago.)
Yeah, do the headlights. Hey, did you see my comment on the Saab video about determining the 'official' year of a vehicle just by looking at the 10th digit on the VIN?
@@Mastaflex007 You can order a cradle on eBay for about 600 bucks and labor would be about another 600 bucks...so it's only worth it if you can get the car real cheap and everything else is in good condition....
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Wikimedia Commons has media related to Chrysler Pacifica. Main articles: Chrysler Pacifica (1999 concept vehicle), Chrysler Pacifica (CS), and Chrysler Pacifica (RU) The Chrysler Pacifica nameplate was used by Chrysler for a variety of vehicles. It was first used on a luxury minivan concept vehicle in 1999. From 2004 to 2008, it was used on a mid-size crossover. Since the 2017 model year, it has been used on the Town & Country minivan's replacement.
Jay Smart It's really incredible what some people consider junk. That guy from the dealership that sent it to you guys needs his head examined. Bad Engine my ass!!! 😂
@@BigJon22091 I have the same exact one which is a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica. When I say I really adore this vehicle I really do. It's down for the moment due to a bad alternator, pulley, alternator belt, motor mount and a tune up. I can't wait to get it fixed and be back on the road again.
One of my coworkers owns a 2005. I asked him about the monitor in thr speedometer, and he said that it is a navigation system. It will not display anything unless it is switched on with the keypad.
Believe it or not but this is a collaboration between Mercedes and Chrysler like the Chrysler Crossfire and honestly they look alike and they also look like a Mercedes (Pacifica) outside (Crossfire) inside and outside
hey i don't hate them but they have enough problems it's like buying a old British car sometimes they are good sometimes they are bad and you never know till you get it home and it breaks on you
I've put well over 200k on most of my Chrysler products yes they have stupid issues here and there but out off all the brands I have owned mopars have been the most reliable and cheapest to fix :)
I rented one in 2004 when I was on vacation in California, we drove it from San Francisco to the Napa Valley then back down the Pacific Coast highway to San Francisco. I really liked it, it was roomy and comfortable.
At the price and with all those options that Pacifica is definitely a keeper.

Naw probably a Chrysler tech, they are almost all universally bad. Biggest issue with Chrysler are the dealerships.
The tech didn't want to be bothered with it.
Nice pointer finger way to funny !
Pretty smart tech....talked the owner out of their car and evidently into a new sale at the dealership.
I have one of these myself and absolutely love it. When I was a travelling salesman it got me through northern Iowa and southern Minnesota during the dead of winter.
I just picked up a 2004, same color, fully loaded, 108k miles, $5000.
You got a smokin' deal.

Chrysler's are kind like Saab's, You don't really know why you love them. You just do !

this is slowly becoming my new favorite series
that gear shifter is everything

Awesome car, I don't think it's garbage at all, heck if I lived closer to you I'd buy it in a heartbeat
For 2003 that’s one fancy car

The control arms were a common failure point on these Pacificas. I’m not talking about the Fiat badged Chrysler Pacifica, either. I know someone who’s daughter had one, and it had a bad control arm.
The original Chrysler Pacificas were on the road starting around summer of 2003. Remember seeing one in Myrtle Beach that year.
When you get flipped off in the first 10 seconds you know this is gunna be a good video! :) and I was right it was
I am a big Chrysler fan
Ethan Meyers same here. Chrysler is one of my favorite car companies alongside Ford and Chevrolet
Why do you like Chrysler?
The control arms on these pacificas are a common thing I can't tell you how many times I've had to replace mine.
dad had an '04 Jeep Liberty great car had minuscule issues
FYI that middle screen on the instrument cluster is where the navigation is. Those buttons next to the vent control it.
Its hilarious. This Pacifica is arguably one of the first domestic crossovers. Now the Chrysler brand is struggling to be relevant, when they were one of the first brands to enter one of the hottest segments of the current market.
A very nice vehicle for the miles
Wow car run quite
Nice car
The dealer Tech didn't just didn't want to fix it he was lazy
Cause they won't put the money out to fix it
For the price you guys pick these cars up for; I could get used to driving cars I didn't give a second look to. I'm jealous.
Already knew it was the water pump and idler tensioner! Common 3.5l issues when people don't change them on time! Other wise they are solid engines
Not an exciting ride but certainly a nice one for the money.
Those r very good gas saver
Eh I mean I'm a huge Mopar fan, the more the better 👌👌
oh yeah, put me in gear, baby.

So a used car salesman yelling me Chryslers are not pieces of shit... Yeah
I always make jokes about the gear shifter lol hope it's at least a foot long
Lol its less about the shifter and more about the cutout the shifter is in. Shape is clearly genitals

Loved the XJ40s... especially with the dual sealed beams. They ride like a cloud.
That’s a steal man, good on you.
What a miracle. I like the old ones b/c the new ones made the Grand caravan retire. And Dodge is stopping the viper.

i love Chrysler
The screen in the middle is for navigation.. you have to play with it to see if it works
wow all the power equipment still works ?after 4 years they were breaking on our 2006 .

The engine was recently rebuilt. It is a new engine. Some needs a career I'd suggest diesel mechanic. Bad diagnostic by a lazy mechanic is common.
I'm sure you keep your insurance company busy, add this vehicle, cancel this...ha
Ya just like mine 🤣(i have 2 companies, cause the one am using dont do cars older than 15-20 years, but i like the broker cause he puts up with me 🤣)
Take it back to that dealer that said the engine is bad. Show them you guys fixed it. Someone can really enjoy that car.
I love chryslers
Tidy looking car, should put it up for sale.
I would abought. But being 10 months too late. Damn the luck. Nice auto for 500.00 into it. Score on selling it. Great job.. ( yeah this was years ago.)
Ok i would of bought it... Couldn't my post. Frickin youtube
Fuck you youtube. Stop fucking with my outdated posts
You have to press the NAV button next to the analog clock to get the GPS to come up in the speedometer
Yeah, do the headlights. Hey, did you see my comment on the Saab video about determining the 'official' year of a vehicle just by looking at the 10th digit on the VIN?
I rented one of those once....i loved it haha .....stupid tech. Even if i saw it and heard it before repairs...id play along and grab it cheap 😈
These are good vehicles I still own my 2005 model ! The biggest problem for these vehicles is the engine cradle frames rusting out !
Is the engine cradle a easy fix?? im going to see a 2006 tomorrow & thats the only thing it needs supposedly
@@Mastaflex007 You can order a cradle on eBay for about 600 bucks and labor would be about another 600 bucks...so it's only worth it if you can get the car real cheap and everything else is in good condition....
Makes sense im gettin it for 1200 & everything else is looking good im going for it
Honestly sounds like the 'tech' is no better than the 'mobile mechanic' that was dumbfounded by the serpentine belt on my 04 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP

The Chrysler Pacifica nameplate was used by Chrysler for a variety of vehicles. It was first used on a luxury minivan concept vehicle in 1999. From 2004 to 2008, it was used on a mid-size crossover. Since the 2017 model year, it has been used on the Town & Country minivan's replacement.
I had a 1987 Dodge Daytona Pacifica. T-Tops, turbo, leather, digital dash, etc. That's when the Pacifica badge started.
My water pump just went out. Going to repair it myself. Wish me luck.
Hay u know what as long as it runs just let it be right? Don't care what model it is as long a it runs and drives
Ok, just keep up the good work.
Beautiful Car. You could get $3,500 for it easy.
Thats the goal! Waiting for this bad weather to pass us by so I can wash it up
Jay Smart These cars clean up well.
You can probably get a new seat bottom pretty cheaply to maximize resale value.
I've been watching your channel for a while now....so what's the deal with the scrap yard? Do you work there? Does your dad own it or something?
Streetwhore8te4 right I'm curious to
One of my coworkers owns a 2005.
It must have that shift console optional lower dangley parts recognition security system. 🤣
How dare that dealership scrap this thing, it runs PERFECTLY.
hey i don't hate them but they have enough problems it's like buying a old British car sometimes they are good sometimes they are bad and you never know till you get it home and it breaks on you
dposer10 tbh every car has problems
dposer10 You know what they say about old British cars? If there isn't any oil underneath them, there isn't any oil in them.
Ae86 Hachi You could say the same about Italian cars.
I've put well over 200k on most of my Chrysler products yes they have stupid issues here and there but out off all the brands I have owned mopars have been the most reliable and cheapest to fix :)
Nice car bit they do have thier quirks
itsa keeper jay....
You should take it top that dealership... get a quote on the control arm
the car is still good, don't deserve this car for scrapped, i feel so sad to see this car for scrapped :((
5:47 bruh. 😂😂
