I've never had issues with the yellow springs, and I've ran multiple sets on multiple motors till long after they are still yellow. Even my 04' ls6 from a zo6 I have have ran them over 100k. before I got it. Only time they let me down was When I ran a .600 lift cam. The valves would float around 6k. After a year or so, I was forced to buy some pac 1219s when I added boost.

thanks for the good video, but 2002-2003 and yellow doesn't necessarily = bad. although impossible to know if your yellow springs are bad, the failure rate of these (yellow) was still really low.

The research I read a while back, had the numbers of yellow failures about 12x that of other springs.

Uses this video to check my SyS. It has the dreaded yellow springs. Getting them swapped out along with upgrade for cold air intake, headers and x pipe.

I just checked my 2003 zo6 with a camera and the 1 right under the oil fill cap is silver. Did they come with silver and yellow springs?
Are the silver ones, if oem still problematic?

From all that I have read, the problem springs were all yellow in the 2002/2003 years. Yours could have been replaced already.

@Just Corvette Crazy ive been researching like crazy too and it appears some cars came from the factory with silver colored springs as well. But im not 100%.
Anyway, got my appointment booked to get pac 1218's installed. Hopefully my car can make it another 6 days 😅

I’ve been aware of this issue for years…I finally could not stop thinking about breaking this beautiful engine which I’ve owned since…I brought it to local Corvette expert, he had no idea what I was talking about…”I’ve never seen a yellow valve spring…”I ‘ll take your money” world class asshole, but very competent…he did the job…he handed me my box of “used but good” yellow valve springs…as I left his shop…I feel so much better now…

I have a 2003 Corvette Z06. I read so much about yellow valve springs I decided I should change mine. The car has 23,000 miles on it. I pulled a valve cover expecting to see yellow valve springs but found natural color ones instead. No paint, not blue or yellow. The new ones I bought are natural color. Can I be confident previous owner actually changed them or should I go ahead and change them anyway. Is it possible natural color were originals or were they all yellow?

Yes you can be certain that they have been switched out. As far as I know the only colors GM used at the time were Yellow and Blue for the LS6 or no color ones for LS1 motors. So those are most likely some aftermarket springs.

Love the videos. When using the endoscope, you can really only inspect or view (1) of the Valve Springs correct? I saw (1) and it was silver, is it safe to assume I don't have the yellow springs? Thanks in advance. -JW

Would be very strange that someone just replaced one valve spring. And even stranger that it is the one that you can see. Only way to be sure is to pull the valve cover but I think the yellow ones are gone if you see silver.

Hey this is off topic but i bought a c4 corvette and a ran well for a 4 hour drive and it lasted about two weeks when it went weak and died while i was driving home . Since then i replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter , fuel injectors and ecm and icm and i get 40 pounds of fuels to the rails so i thought it might be spark but it has spark but its not blue but the engine just cranks and doesnt catch at all im thinking it might be the injectors not getting power to fire but starting fluid doesnt work either maybe timing is bad i really need help its driving me insane and its been parked for almost 5 months maybe its the oils sending unit any help please? im 17 and i want my car back alive ps its an l98 engine 1991 corvette
