That was great to see. Thanks from Australia. I went to Killinkere in 2010, visiting a friend in Dublin. I was, at the time, researching a Lynch, who ended up in Australia. I’m pretty sure I saw the ruin of that school but it was more overgrown when I saw it. I think there was a Fort also near by. I remember finding an old road that went up past Mr Smiths farm. His farm was where I think Lynch lived. The original farm overlooked the lough. Vincent Smiths cattle farm still had the late 1800s home on it that was his fathers. The original old stone farm was gone. Vincent told me he recalled as a small boy, the ruins of a cot5age on the land
The old road I found had cobble type stones under the weeds and grass and the stone fence was covered and had trees growing out of it. I even found a little stone stair going over the fence

My grandmother lived in Cliffin, Killinkere. She was Margaret “Peggy” Jennings. 😊

Father McCabe was a nephew of My Great Grandfather. He visits him in the original film

These videos are great. Any chance you have any footage of around Virginia in the 80's or 90's?

Hi Adrian, wish I could say I had but no I don't, I only found this snippet recorded on a DVD that was sitting around for years. Someone out there might see this and come forward with more info. The full version might be out there somewhere. Maybe it is in the RTE archives. It would be worth checking...and someone might still have the old cine footage somewhere recorded by Fr McCabe.
