I only discovered your videos a few weeks ago when I was doing genealogy research on my ancestors that made Pennsylvania their home back in the 19th century and before.
Great content. Who knows, I may see one of my ancestors names in one of your old abandoned cemetery videos.

The “General” was manufactured by the Osgood Co. of Marion, Ohio. Osgood began in 1910 under another name, but changed to the Osgood Co. after a lawsuit in 1912. The company operated until 1954 when it was purchased by the Marion Steam Shovel Co., the same company that sued over Osgood original name in 1912! This machine was reportedly a gasoline shovel. I’ve never been able to determine what year it was built though.

It's not a steam shovel. A piece of equipment like that is considered an excavator. On tracks.

Visited the General with you B4, cool to see it again. A friend from the mining town of Morea, Pa took me to his childhood home in 83 or so. There were two huge abandoned machines similar to the General but larger and operated by electric motors. Just left there to rust away, probably still there.

It would be interesting to know the Ph of that " spring drainage " . Up on Barklay Mt. in Bradford county it usually is between 3.0 and 4.0 where the metals drop out and color the stream bed. Maybe in the future you could grab a sample for testing.

I've heard that bent trees like the one you saw near the random pipe in the ground (timestamp ~ 9:07) had been made by Native Americans to mark trails etc. Do you know if there is any truth to that?

    • @FUNKRUBICON

Most of the trees shaped like that come from weather damage of some sort. Almost all of the trees that were around during the time of Native Americans living here are all gone.
